Wich should be the track for the last race?

You know, it would be kind of cool to make use of the new hosted session feature of starting fuel. If we ran a 60 minute race, and a maximum starting fuel that was enough for about 45 minutes, some nice strategy would be involved. And a pit stop for 15 minutes worth of fuel is plenty of time to get a fresh set of tires.

That would be great, well at least for the guys on the lead lap. :) Commentary would be cool too, don't know what glaciertv charges (if anything) but it looks like shanedougherty charges 5 bucks per race. Doesn't matter to me who we go with. Everyone could throw in a few bucks to the kitty.

I don't like the broadcasting idea.

"Oh look at that, the entire grid just wrecked 3 seconds after the start!"

Plus it adds to the pressure. I'm sure only a few drivers (myself not included) feel really good in the Caddy not to make mistakes or spin out and the like.

We should wait and see how the first iteration goes, depending on that we can start broadcasting, but that's just me.

Same mamenzies from GT Mustards training academy? hehe
hi Magz, yes m8 i used to race in Mustards rooms but since ive been using triple screens in iracing i cant seem to get back to grips with GT5,its a real shame for me cus i miss you guys:)

I've thought about that too

It doesn't matter to me either way about the broadcasting. If you guys want to do it I'll chip it a few bucks. As far as extra pressure goes for it being broadcasted it isn't a big deal to me. The last oval league I ran in for 6 months or so broadcasted a full season of our class A cup series races. To me there is no extra pressure with it being broadcasted. Once the lights go green you don't think about that. There were times I didn't even remember it was being broadcasted until the end of the race lol.

I hope everyone puts in a fair amount of practice before our first race this weekend. Especially on the starts. I would hate to get crashed before the first turn. Getting this car off the line isn't that hard just do some practice starts. Just remember it's better to lose a couple tenths on a slow start than it is to give it too much throttle and spin the car around taking yourself and possibly others out of the race. The race can't be won on the first turn, but it can sure be lost.

I hope so too, the last practice race at Mosport I attended one of the members floored it when the lights turned green and he took out 3 or 4 guys. Any way we can have rolling starts with the Caddy?

Yeah I know that was the race I hosted. I saw all that happen behind me. That was right when the car first came out so I hope people are better at starts now. I'm sure you can probably set it to be a rolling start if you wanted. I'd rather it be a standing start long as no one takes out half the field on the start.

Well I got my dates mixed up. I thought the first race was this weekend on the 13th . Kinda tired of laguna for right now. Going to do one more official race this week and I'm done. Was going to start practicing okayama tomorrow, but kinda bummed now the race isn't this weekend.

A standing start would be fine as well, a rolling start has less problems for the starts. You are right, it was your hosted session and it was right after the Caddy released.

Another issue the came up during your hosted session was people that quit. I ended up in 2nd place, I had a fast tow then a 12 minute repair. I came out and was several laps down. I ended up 4 laps down (I think) and in second place, every one quit except the 1st place racer and me. It is not much fun if everyone quits. I think there were only 7 or 8 of us in your session.

Will there or should there be any penalty for quitting once we start the series?

I think having a penalty would be a good idea so long as you are able to continue in the race if you have terminal damage id rather see people stay and be a good sport but I can see why they would leave then.

The race I hosted was just a fun race to try and start getting use to the car. You can't really compare my race to what the league races will be like when points are up for grabs. Since we ran at night our time that counted a lot of people out. I'm guessing that's why we are going with the time we have scheduled now.

I think most everyone quit in my race because so many people got damaged there at the start or either ran off track. I was leading by 25 seconds or so at lap 11 then I ran off. Just lost concentration since it was only like 3 or 4 of us on track so I wasn't fully into it. I had 2 official mosport races right after with 0 incidents so I made up for it lol. I did quit myself with about 8 minutes to go. I really did hate to quit because I never do, but I had over 9 minutes of repairs left for 8 minutes left in the race. I got some damage from that first run off on lap 11 and just tried to fix the required repairs and just a little optional, but it wasn't enough and I ran off getting more damage resulting in the 9 minutes of repairs.

I don't think people will just quit the league races when there are points on the line. Especially since there will be prizes and stuff. I doubt there will be and I don't think there should be any penalties for quitting early. If your car gets too damaged to finish not much you can do. I'm not sure how the points will be scored but I'm assuming that you gets points for wherever you finish no matter if you quit the race or not. I always stay to the end and fix my car and try and get the most points possible. Picking up another spot or two can make a difference in the end.

I understand packing it in with 10 minutes left in the race when a person has 13 minutes of repair, that's understandable. However the guys that get pissed off at their self for making a mistake and then exiting the game for absolutely no good reason. Sort of like iRacing punishes a individual in points if they disconnect for any reason. I believe the individual that caused the crash at the start of MadRR hosted session packed it in after the big crash. That should be punishable.

Maybe if there were points awarded to everyone that stays in the game down to the last place person. I don't really care one way or another, it's just a thought to keep everyone in the game.

I haven't poked my head in here for a little while. I am still planning on running in the championship. I will be missing the race on the 20th as I will be out of town.

I put in some practice this week with the Cadillac at Laguna. I can't seem to put a full lap together. Its driving me nuts. My fastest time of 1'23.7 is a full second of my optimal time. In other cars at other tracks, it is usually not a problem to run a lap .1 to .2 off of my optimal time. Connecting all the turns into one full lap in this car is definitely eluding me.

Are you guys having a hard time running close to your optimal time lap after lap as well? I hope I am not alone here:scared:

Hey. You're not alone. Last practice I did was at Okayama, and my best time was over a second slower than my optimal. :yuck:

In the iRacing forum there is a CTS thread called "calling all aliens" and there are 2 replays in there, both in the mid to high 1:22 range, I watched one of them and I gained 2 seconds, now I'm down to averaging a 1:30 - 1:31, but I am by no means the fastest driver

Guys I'm gonna host a fun session in a few minutes with the Caddy/MX5/Solstice at Okayama, it'll be a 2hr open session 75 minute practice 10 minute quali and 30 minute race! Come out and let's have some fun!

Great time, thanks Jav, I got in just in time for qualifying. A couple black flags in pit lane and running out of gas but it was a blast.

Thanks again Derek, I jumped in around 7:30 PM EDT, there were a lot of people although I didn't recognize anyone.

Thanks Josh, for making me feel better.. less alone.. and slightly less frustrated.:) Tough car to really understand where the speed comes from.

My optimal is in the mid '22s, so I have an idea where the lines are. Putting it into one lap is the hard part. But I will review a few of those laps as you suggest. It never hurts to watch a lap that puts it all together. 👍

Thanks guys.. Should be a fun season.👍

Here you go Magz, just found this:

Another lap with the Cadillac at Okayama. Did a 1:28.234 which I thought was quite fast....

That's a pretty damn good lap so I'd say 32s are pretty competitive!

Guys Magz is hosting a practice session right now! Come on in if you're arround!
I'll be hosting 6hr sessions tomorrow/Thursday/Saturday starting at 18GMT!
