Hmm there is one interesting thing, you guys are saying the demo is an older build, let´s say 2 months old... So now you think the new build has improved a lot ok? So if we get PD another year, the game will improve a lot!??

And all the haters here are unsatisfied with the damage now...

So what now? I think PD must delay the game till christmas 2011 to make it perfect... but wait... then comes the next hate... and so on and so on...

So don´t buy it, go whining... Wait for FM4 and get satisfied... Stop comparing, be happy that we get it after 5 1/2 years...

We can all make the argument about how this build may be two months old or whatnot, but I think for now we should reserve JUDGMENT. Criticism is all fine and dandy, but let's not just immediately express disappointment from what is most certainly an old build.

Really, we only have to wait 9 more days. Hopefully everything is revealed in TGS if this game is to hit November 2nd. I think we can all agree that this game has to go gold this month to make the release date as a month is needed to print out copies of the game.

Well the line isn't that defined or even that thin other than personal attitude and a posting history consisting of complaints only with no single positive element ( or only positives for that matter ).
We should feel assured enough on a forum to express both criticism and enthusiasm without being called either a troll or a fanboy unless there are clear distinct reasons for it.
I can get just as annoyed by those who are only praising everything PD related and sweep any possible negative under the carpet as to those who are clearly trying to be negative to provoke a reaction.
And you only feel the need to defend when you're under the assumption of being attacked, no need to defend if someone else expresses concern or dislike whilst posting on a forum to discuss the same game they love as the one you do, if they're not they're indeed just trolling.
 
I have to say that the damaged is really showing its strength now,I mean in games like shift and grid you had already this stuff(you could also get killed),the damage seems to be more spot on,and if the standards have same level of mechanical damage of the premium(this is a fact BTW check the official web site of GT)then the game could well be a really good build for all racing needs on GT5.

Apart from that the damaged its not perfect,and seems a bit doll but at least it shows more of real damage on body panels and its seems that it takes damage over structural parts of the cars(we don't know how monocoques will react to crashes,well or at least I don't know yet).

And yeah a bit of criticism over the game is good,it helps to show really a quality of a game,still this game will cover almost all the basis but is impossible to cover everything perfectly.

If that were true we would have now a GT5 without 16 cars on track, without cockpit views, with no Ferrari and Lambo, with empty tracks, with no damage, with no deformations, with unrealistic physics, with no rollovers, with GT4 collisions, with poor AI, with poor online, with no skidmarks, with no rear lights, with no day/night cicles, with no weather, with no track editor, etc.....

What were all those negatives proven true? the premium and standard cars and what more? or you talk about nitpicking the little details when a feature that nobody expected surfaces?

Depends on perception, meaning if you regard critical opinions as attacks needing to be defended or just a critical opinion not shared by you which you could counterargue if you feel like it or simply ignore.

It's all about an attitude, easy to spot when becomes repetitive post after post. I have no problem with critical opinions, no game is perfect.
 
I honestly think that criticism does have its place, although we must acknowledge the fact that throughout history, "no statue has ever been erected for a CRITIC". I also personally think that if a statue be erected for any of the GT games in the series it's this one!

How often do you plan on slamming into other cars and the walls during a race anyway? I personally hope that I won't end up seeing much damage on my vehicle, because I don't plan on wall riding, or driving like... well, crap. I would hope that many of the people on this board aren't really concerned with damage from hitting a wall at 90+MPH.

I am more concerned with mechanical damage, and the slight dents and scratches that let me know that I rubbed the car next to me, and not damage from fooling around or just plain horrible driving. If someone sucked that bad at the game, it is nice to know that your car at least still runs for the person that does happed to be terrible.
 
Now that's more like it indeed!

Sure the cars still feel too damn solid but hopefully this can be adjusted or PD is still holding back the full damage.

So far I'd say the damage is lacking, but it does show potential. Since we haven't seen a demo with rollover yet, I believe there's more to damage than PD is willing to show now.

For regular production model cars, you'll be able to scuff the paint job, as well as deform specific areas of the cars. For race model cars, like WRC and NASCAR models, damage will be extended to include parts falling off the car during particularly violent shunts.

If PD plan to showcase the final damage model, then it should be along the most sensitive mechanical damage they can fit in the game. Tired of this visual damage for kicks and giggles.

This sorta goes with what you guys have seen with my photos of the 458 and the videos going around. They (as in production cars such as the 458) do deform, but not to the point of parts falling off.

Any particular reason why the damage system is more extensive than what we seen on production models but is exclusive to racing cars? I mean I can't see the manufacturer not giving the 'OK' for production cars to lose body panels when Forza 3 does.

Seeing as the technology is there then why not extend it to Premium production cars?

simple: GT5 is more realistic than Forza 3. Forza is an arcade-sim, like NFS Shift. The cars in Shift had about the same amount of damage as Forza does. However, GT5 is seen as more realistic. I mean, actual racing school actually use Gran Turismo as a teaching tool. So, I'm sure that the manufacturers don't want an overly realistic damage model for their production models. However, pretty much the only thing on a racing model that's really built by the manufacturer is the engine and the badge. To make a race car, you take a production model and make a mold of the body and then cover said mold in fiber glass or whatever you want to use. In the end, the manufacterur might "own" the car simply because it has the badge, but in reality, a race car and a road car are completely different. It's only the showroom stock cars that are anywhere close, and a even a lot of those are fiberglass bodies based on the production model.

We'd have GT5 without a full on track editor, without a livery editor, without incredibly realistic fully procedural damage, without a delay in release date...

Oh what am I forgetting? That's right.... without 800 subpar cars...

And what potential negatives have turned out not to be true? I am sure it's nothing even near the scale of 80% of the cars a noteably lower quality.

Face it, we have heard plenty of times how Kaz is the master, people here know how he thinks, he is like us, he is a perfectionists, PD would never let anything but a perfectly polished diamond release... and then what... oh yeah... where'd they all go? I'm still here...

Repetitive posts like "I am so sick of all the complaining! GTP isn't a place for complaining, complainers suck and I hate having to deal with all of you". You mean repetetive like that? Or do you only mean repetitve in terms of wont back down that something appears sub par no matter how much the PD Defense Club insists you do?

I think this quote is from about a year ago and while I don't understand why it was said then I can't help but think it's somehow incorrect... there was much speculation at one point that the two levels of cars would be racing and production (before it was commonly accepted that it would be how it is officially now) and I wonder if somehow that understanding got carried over into this explanation.

In retrospect I do agree those were a poor choice of words (sucks so bad), nevertheless they were mine and in fact these images, if they are real, are absolutely terrible and not consistent with the type of material we have seen in the GT series.
 
Guys I have a question!If there is will be dirt accomulation, does it affect windows?And how it looked from cockpit view?I think dirty car with clean windows will look very bad - they need to make special effect for it (like in Dirt at least), because in GT5P you can barely see the front window itself.Maybe very good news are still wait for us!

If above is not the procedural real-time damage, than nothing is. If above is not from demo probably far from final code, than nothing is. If above is the showcase of things to come, than we're very happy people.

This looks more than good, it looks incredible. Arguing about acomplishing something on this scale with all other elements of the actual code on almost 5 year old hardware, is nothing but deliberate crapping in order to make yourself smart.

However, internet ego is an intresting thing so I presume the constructive criticsm will continue to copy/past same "arguments" all over again, again, again, again and again. And again after that.

^^^ Oh how I glad that I'm not only who thinks that damage is AMAZING!

Edited: But I've noticed that rear-view mirrors are still clipping through wall :( I really, really hope they got it fixed!
