Just finished Rah-Xephon......Well actually i finished it a couple of weeks ago but not got around to posting here. Im sure a few of you have already seen it but i must say i was very impressed. I wasnt terrably keen on many of the ideas in RX at first as it was very similar to Neon Genesis which is one of my favorite shows ever, but if anything it made the show easyer to watch. The story seems deeper than NGE's but is not so deep as to make you uninterested.

For those that dont know much about it, without giving to much away, the basic plot is Kamina, a young boy and the animes protagonist, lives in Tokyo. The whole world around him has been destroyed and the population of earth is about 4/5 million. Kamina is contacted by a woman who basically turns his world upside down. There is still a world outside of tokyo and kamina becomes attached to a Xephon (large creature which kamina can control)

The story all comes together at the rights times and helps the anime flow well at quite a fast pace and shows how well the plot has been thought out.

I wont go into more details as i potentially have the ability to spoil what is a very good anime which will keep you guessing even though you kinda know what to expect (sounds odd but trust me on this)

A fantastic show which comes highly reccomended.

Next on my list is Bleach and Gundam Seed both of which are downloading now. However im kinda running into a storage problem, so it seems i will have to get another external HD. Found a good deal on a USB2 250gb Iomega HD for £82. Its not a eSATA HD or anything but its only for basic storage so i think it will do the job nicely.

Spec.....

Why not just save yourself the effort and money and just buy a DVD burner and some DVD CD's, then you save space and don't have to suffer with external speeds.

Not to mention then you could get a DIVX DVD player for like $60 and watch it on your TV :)

Thanks for the suggestion, I have already got a DVD burner at home but i am to lazy to start burning all the anime i have onto DVD. Also my music collection is increasing just as fast as the anime so i will have to get a larger HD at some point. Another problem i have is that alot of my anime files are in OGM and MKV file format. Not sure if these will work in a DVD player?

If anybody knows about this could you PM me rather than take this thread off topic :)

Yet another good episode of Eureka Seven tonight. Part of it made me laugh and other parts made me chuckle a little. I like the mechs and how they operate in this series. The little bits of action in tonight's episode was also very good. Very good stuff! 👍

You should just download them in Japanese with the English Subtitles, they are all already finished and out, so you wouldn't have to wait once a week :P

Hmmm, I haven't been on this thread for a damn long time:sly:

Just a quick question to all you hardcore anime fans out there, who seem to amass their DVD collection faster than Vash screaming out 'Love and peace'👍

Q: Seeing as the new Blu-ray formatted discs will soon be out, (no doubt late towards the end of this year), does this render forking out all that hard-earned cash on those much wanted DVD's and Box-sets, only to find that they will all be re-released on the classier-bigger-better blu-ray soon after Nov-Dec?

Seeing as I'm awaiting the arrival of the Dragonball Z: Uncut Edition Box set to find it's way to Australia (Eventually) and upon other things Orphen Season 2 and many others, I just want to know if and when our beloved Anime titles are going to be released on the 'Blu-ray format'

Regards, GT Pro.

I don't really have a very big anime collection to begin with, so I don't really plan on upgrading any of it to Blu-ray. I just don't see the point in it; that is unless I won't be able to play my DVDs on a Blu-ray player 👎, then I might be forced to upgrade all of my anime to Blu-ray. 👎 But I don't exactly see a whole lot of anime being released on Blu-ray very soon. :grumpy: It already takes a while for the DVD manufacturer's to release anime now as it is and I don't see anime being on top of the priority list of Blu-ray releases. :grumpy: I also don't want to see the cost of anime on Blu-ray. :yuck: Anime is already more expensive than anything else to buy on DVD, it is only going to be that much worse on Blu-ray. :yuck:

So at the moment, I don't plan on any Blu-ray purchases. I'll wait for the initial sky-high prices to drop to much more reasonable prices. After the prices drop, I may make some Blu-ray purchases. I doubt I'll buy anything I already have on DVD though, I just don't have the money to go blow on Blu-ray just so I can have the latest and greatest.

i recently watched all of gundam seed :) pretty good series its kinda funny seeing kids get blown up and crushed :p

and the latest naruto episode was funny ^_^

Naruto has gone waaaay downhill since ep 100.

I'm currently reading the GTO manga and watching the anime, both killer comedy dramas IMO.. Some of it is actually sad too, which is hard to admit for an anime  . Also, I'm getting the entire Neon Genesis Evangelion collection, fully subbed. Apparently there is also another anime going by Eureka 7, which I've heard is like a much more happier version of Evangelion.

Can anybody recommend me some good adult drama anime? I am getting into that phase since the action anime scene is starting to bore me.

And on one final note, if you want a quick dispensible anime that is not brainracking, I suggest Bakuretsi Tenshi ;)

So far, I've watched all eight episodes of Eureka Seven that has been shown on Cartoon Network and I have really enjoyed the series. 👍 It follows the life of Renton and his foibles--is foibles even a word?--as a teenager. There has been some good action with the mecha in the series. The mecha are a little different in that they surf the waves of sky. There has also been some comedy in Renton with the growing pains of being a teenager. The story has also been a good one so far giving only enough to the viewer to keep them wanting to come back for more; right now in the series, there are a bunch of questions I'm wanting to be answered and the series is slowly answering them.

Right now, it is the only anime I'm making sure I catch every week on Cartoon Network; though this is not saying much as there are not any other new series on CN right now, but that in no way changes my opinion of Eureka Seven. I would definitely recommend checking it out if you get a chance. 👍

In between being stupidly busy lately i have managed to fit in Gundam Seed. Its a pretty good anime, a little harder to "get into" than some others i have watches and the story kinda drags in places and is totally predictable. This series ended quite well though, which is something of a rarity! I have also managed to get up to speed on Bleach which i think is awsome, some great fights and a few surprises along the way are making this a must watch series.

After a incident involving my brother, my laptop, Ghost in a shell (movies along with 1st and 2nd gig S.A.C.) and a delete button i am having to download all this again and was not best pleased to say the least!

As I've discussed with 'VashTheStampede', no there isn't any confirmation on new episodes, yet.

There are many people around here that I'm sure watch the Dragon Ball series and Full Metal Alchemist.

Just for a hint, I'm going to hopelessly admit that I'm a hardcore dragonball fan.
(I now have over 1500 items on the series:lol:)

There are not any planned new episodes of Trigun. Trigun was a run of 26 episodes and that was the entire series.

I've seen all of Full Metal Alchemist. It is really good stuff and definitely worth watching all of it.

Though I still prefer Trigun.

I haven't seen Appleseed, but I have heard of it and it was through this thread. If you go back some pages--I don't know how many, though probably ten at the most--you will see a couple of the other members who have discussed the movie in this thread. That would help you find out who has seen it.

And since you mention it, have you seen it? I've completely forgotten what everyone has said about it.

What is the movie even about? I don't remember what everyone else said and haven't really looked into what the movie is about.

The movie is about the fall of earth from war, eventually the planet will die, etc etc.

Humans create "artificial" humans to do day to day tasks etc, and eventually war breaks out in this perfect "utopia" that is apparently the last good place on earth. I can't relaly tell much more or I'll give a lot of it away.

The trailer to the highlander anime is out there somewhere (I've seen it).

Also, I'm guessing the new 3D AppleSeed has a different story than the old normal anime.
I could just have a bad memory, but in the previous (original) appleseed I thought there was a huge conspiracy about bringing down the system (more or less) and taking power of a city using an enormous floating multi-legged tank.

If any of you have seen the 3D version and not the original please take the time to watch the original- you just might like it. 👍

Initial D! Any thoughts on this cartoon?

Well as long as you dont take it seriously its a pretty fun anime to watch, Its a no brain required anime. I enjoyed watching it although it does get a little repetative and you know that everytime Takumi races who is going to win.

I pretty much agree with Spec here. I haven't seen all of the series, only Season 1 and maybe an episode or two of Season 2, but it is good fun.

my gainax addiction was in a long detox session unitl this........

Theres gotta be other info on this out there, vash? It doesnt release unitl 2007 :ouch:

I just Googled the anime and did not find much of anything. Every website I looked at had just about as much information as you have given. That is, it will be released in 2007. There just is not much more known about it at the moment, at least from what I could see. A more thorough search might turn some stuff up, but probably not a whole lot more.

Just an update from myself really.

1) - I have watched all of .//Hack - Sign. Id heard a few things about this anime so thought i would give it a try. Well it wasnt really my cup of tea! The concept was pretty good but it is a real slow anime, I was really was bored to tears at points but kept with it in the hope that .//Hack would pick up. Unfortunately it never does. Its essentially about an online RPG where people can interact with others etc, one boy cant log out and strange thigns begin to happen.

As you can tell im not overly impressed with .//Hack and i would only give it a 5/10 rating. Its not great but i have seen worse.

2) - I noticed appleseed getting some good reviews in this thread so thought i would check that out to. A good anime i must admit, the cell shading look really odd compared to other cell shading i have seen. I guess they tried to add alot of detail to the cell shading and it kinda defeats the point of using a basic type of presentation. The plot is good with some great action scenes and a story which is constantly developing keeping the audience captured.

All in all a very polished animated movie and i would reccomend it but its not quite in the top ten. If i had to give it a rating id give it a 8/10

3) - I got back all my Ghost in a Shell (movies 1&2 and 1st & 2nd Gig SAC) back too which is good news!

4) - VashTheStampede will be happy to know that i have started watching Trigun. Seems good so far even though i only watched two episodes, Its certainly good for a few laughs though.

5) - I got Full Metal Alchemist working its way to me too and should be completed in a couple of days. Heard good things from lots of people so i have my fingers crossed!

6) - Bleach, Well i have caught up with this pretty quickly, and i was very impressed, especially when Ichigos sword turns black and he has "THAT" fight (trying to not spoil it for people who havnt got that far) but all these fillers of recent are rubbish! I hear that the animators and production team have been changed a few times which would obviously change the flow and there is a bleach movie coming out soon so i have a feeling they are trying to stall the storyline so that the movie will essentially be the last episode and bring eveythign to an end.
