Well,

I've added to the rep of VashtheStampede and Specialized for replies 2934 and 2935 (by using the little red check at the top right of each post you can check your own rep and give rep points to others... Giving rep doesn't lower your own rep either).
Both posts were just what I like to see in this thread. 👍
Regarding the Guyver.

When I rented the show I didn't expect much. However, in the first episode they gave a nice little background story of how this suit was made as the ultimate predator and I think it appeared on earth during the time of the dinosaurs.
I don't remember the story too well because it has been so long.
I do remember that the Guyver had some bad ass abilities and awesome weapons (especially those blades off the elbows).
Also, specialized,
NGE is kind of old believe it or not (not all that old though).
That may be why you get the old vibe off it.
Think NGE was produced in 1994.

That makes it nearly 13 years old.
Still, NGE is one of my favs (easily too).
Only a handful of shows have captured my attention like NGE simply because I'm tired of seeing shows that are all eye-candy and nothing more.
Don't get me wrong, I love some good new-age anime with great style, production quality, and awesome art.
However, I really love shows that can do that while producing a great story that will tie you down emotionally and take you for a ride.
NGE and Cowboy Bebop are perfect examples of that. 👍
I also feel like there are others out there that achieve that but sometimes it just isn't as pure as what is seen in those two.
For example, Full Metal Alchemist is amazing.
The idea of "alchemy" as they use it is enough to base a series on by itself.
Then add to that how the mother dies + brother is taken by demons & given back only after older bro sacrifices an arm and leg on the spot just to get back little bros soul and not the body to go with it! ... Talk about starting a story up with a bang.
Then from there the story gets even better in terms of character development because of how they depict Ed and Al growing and dealing with their problems (all the while leaning on "mom's death and the incident").
Once again, my relationship with my little brother comes into play, but none the less it is easy to understand why the basic premise of this story can be so enthralling.
Sadly though, sometimes I feel like the show sells itself short by attempting to create an all-age-acceptable anime.
Luckily they never stick with that and usually the show ends up on the extremely dark side of "what's in the afterlife, why do we die, why can't we change death, what's waiting for us on the other side, and worst (or best) of all... What kinds of monsters and demons are playing games with the lives and deaths of humans throughout the world"?????
(lots of questions I know)
In any case, I've done too much typing already this morning and I've still gotta run off to school.
So, until next time,
