Maybe its because he isn't very stable? Seems like to me all of them have very screwed up views of the world. I don't see how the crying does not fit into that perspective.

Still comical nonetheless with either Reno/Rude comment . . . and none the more nonsensical.

whatever ya say buddy..i'll pop it in one more time see if i notice any other direct video game cues that were completely uneccessary and nonsensical......

Oh.....BTW...the whole cell phone thing with vincent..
and the cell phone working underwater....

and dozens of other things..

You really do take the whole movie too seriously. The movie was not meant to be realistic, as in our world type physics. I would have thought you would have gotten that point with the over-the-top fight scenes. The movie was never meant to be viewed thinking how these things could be happening in our world. It is set in a fantasy world and thus our world and their world cannot be directly compared.

Do you actually have anything positive to say about it at all? All I've heard is negative, negative, and more negative.

See..once again you come in with the "the movie wasn't meant to be realistic"...Blah blah blah

Is that the only arguement people who don't agree with my opinions have? The same thing's seen over on the silent hill thread..god d*mn it's old..

NO i knew it wasn't going to be a goddamn documentary..it's final fantasy...That doesn't mean that phones have to be water proof..

that doesn't mean that you can't reload a gun..
that doesn't mean that a truck can slam into a cement wall get totalled...but not have a scratch on it..

There's a difference between Realistic, and realism....This movie is lacking both...Good movies can always fit in realism, no matter how completely BS and imaginary the movie may be...

if you get shot in the face...you die...Cloud got shot in the face.....he got a scratch on his eyebrow....

as for

Do you actually have anything positive to say about it at all? All I've heard is negative, negative, and more negative.

Driftster
Got this movie about a week ago as a "bonus deal" from the video store (they wern't flying off the shelves as they had planned os if you bought 3 other DVD's you got this one free)..

It's not a bad movie, much to my dismay it wasn't a retelling of the FFVII story, but another continuation of it.

Great CGI not Spirits within quality, but good none the less(althought they seemed to have "some" problems with straight hair)
good fight scenes for the most part...Stuck with the character traits pretty well, but it did get kinda cheezy with how the characters acted...pulling lines and catch phrases from directly out of the game....
had a sephiroth/cloud fight...wasn't that long but it was alright....

but yeah...not a bad rent...wouldn't sudgest buying it unless you can get it for 9.99

Driftster
it was ok the first time, like the fight scenes..

i appologize for not sitting here and saying

"this cartoon was haunting"

or that because it has the name "final fantasy" in it, it was quote unquote 1337 h4x0rs

Okay, on the cell phone . . . cell phone can take a mighty amount of abuse and still work. I have personally destroyed three cell phone and still had them continue to work for a significant amount of time.

And what about not reloading a gun? I vividly remember Vincent reloading his gun multiple times.

I don't particulary remember any truck slamming into a wall and not being scratced, but I'll take your word for it that it happened. And lets not mention the fact that much more wierd things have happened than a truck slamming into a wall and not getting scratched.

You don't always die when you get shot in the face, there are multiple stories out there of victims surviving gun shot wounds to the face. As I remember in the movie, the bullet barely grazed Cloud's face, but that is only a minor detail.

And I'm only defending the movie because all you can seem to do is nitpick little details that have barely any significance in the overall picture of the movie. I could careless if the movie was called "This is the Most Stupid Crap in the World Movie", instead of having "Final Fantasy" in it. If the movie was pretty good, then there is no reason for me not to defend it, especially considering you seem to give the movie an unfair review because you have a thing against Final Fantasy and have a thing with pulling small minor details out of no where and blowing them out of proportion. It is no different than me saying, "This movie completely sucked because there was a book on a shelf, but the book should have been on a shelf two rows above it". I mean seriously, what does that have to do with anything at all?

Ok..go ahead and drop your phone into a full tub, and then call it and see if it works....

I gaurentee you within 10 seconds it's ruined and will never turn on again..

That was not pretaining to the movie that was pretaining to your inability to tell the difference between reality and realism...examples are an amazing thing don't you think?

Pure genius at work..

As I remember, excuse me..as i'm watching right now...The gun is aimed right at clouds forehead...not NEAR his face..not towards his face...the gun is about 2 inches away from his face and he's starring down the barrel..
BOOM!!
Oh no my glasses broke and I have a cut on my eyebrow..

And I'm only defending the movie because all you can seem to do is nitpick little details that have barely any significance in the overall picture of the movie.
Nope..I'm not nitpicking every little detail, the fact that the dialog is supposed to be an important part of the movie, and a good 1/4 of it was lame.....That's not really nitpicking...If I were to say, the cobwebs of the church changed their orientation with each scene...then that would be nit picking.....but what the hey right....

I could care less if the movie was called "This is the Most Stupid Crap in the World Movie", instead of having "Final Fantasy" in it. Now I have a thing against final fantasy?
Wow...so it's my deep rooted hatred for final fantasy that makes me want to "nitpick this film" getting a little Freudy dontcha think?

Yep, I try! :dunce:

Oh, that part of the movie, now I remember it. I didn't think anything of it at the time and I still don't. He had some goggles on and that was enough protection to stop the bullet, good enough reason for me.

Dialog is supposed to be important to the overall movement of the story, but the quotes you bring have no relevance at all. Every single movie in the history of man has lines that could be considered "lame" as you put it. No real reason to rip a movie.

Now I have a thing against final fantasy?

To quote you, "When the FF fan community goes from gigantic loser nerds..to normal people who just like games..then I'LL consider becoming a fan." Seems like to me you have something against FF.

......................................................what?

My point exactly!

yup..makes perfect sense..

Your right..every movie has one or two lines..from one or two characters..

not 30+ lines..
and one from Every single character..

Yup...meaning I'm not going to sit around and talkg about the game with my nerdocracy of friends..

Doesn't mean I don't enjoy the series...it means I'm not haunted by a cartoon..

Your point exactly? that made absolutely no sense...sooooooo....yeah your point is you make no sense?

Pay no attention to Drifster, Vash, he's a troll basically, running around these forums on a constant basis looking for "e-fights" so he can "argue" his nonsense with people. He cannot appreciate that it is a FICTIONAL film, thus he feels the need to run around and complain and cry like a 6 year old school girl.

Anyone watch Monster? Great series, definately one of the best I've ever watched. Currently I'm watching Ergo Proxy, which is just as great, awesome plot and some good twists so far.

Black Lagoon is a good anime as well, very interesting.

Yeah, my point made perfect sense if you go back and try and comprehend what I was trying to say, but it seems you completely missed the point, which is exactly why you said, "..........what?".

Just seems to me that you cannot sit there and watch a movie for two hours, actually less than that because this movie was not two hours long, take it for what it worth, and enjoy it.

I've already figured out that he is a troll. Looking back before the first post I commented on, seeing a couple of his other posts, led me to believe he is a troll. All of this conversation has just proved me to be true.

I can't say I've heard of any of the series you have mentioned. Where did you hear about them at?

The funny thing is, Tha_Con to date up until Vash has been the only person to have a problem with me stating my opinion..

Which he usually follows it with some infantile remark about my intelligence....but...people will be people....

Remember, if you don't agree with Tha_con you're wrong...

^^^ The fact that you post your opinion only to start flame wars is the only problem I have from you. You are insulting with everything you say, hence, you are a child. Not once can I remember you stating your opinon in an adult like manner, just running around acting like a teenager.

But, kids will be kids.

And what does this have to do with anything in this thread? Please stop trolling.

I have no problem with you stating your opinion. Where did I once say I had a problem with you stating your opinion? Please do not put words into my mouth.

At least when tha_con came in here, he actually made a contribution to the thread, unlike your original post, with a mention of some anime and I am curious as to what each of them is about and where he heard about them from. Having said that, please tha_con, could you please give us a little more information on each of the series you mentioned?

Oh..So you mean my first post of KARAS being a bad anime and don't go see it...

then my take on Advent children....

completely useless..

no contribution at all..

tha_con, could you please give us a little more information on each of the series you mentioned?

Monster - It's about a surgeon who saves the life of a young boy who has been shot in the head (I assume Driftster will love this). Years later, the boy becomes a serial killer and the Doctor feels it's responsibility to fix the problems. Huge underlying issues and plot twists remain, referencing Nazi germany, orphanages, brainwashing, and government coverups. Great stuff.

Ergo Proxy - Takes place in the future, kind of a Cross between the Matrix and iRobot, very interesting, not very far, maybe 8 episodes out thus far.

Black Lagoon - A group of mercinaries kidnaps a young business man, with important data on a disc, the man is now targeted by his company as they set out to destory him and the disc. I won't say anything else so as not to ruin it, lol. Just watch :)

Yes, your first post about Karas was completely useless. You gave absolutely no reason at all for why it stunk. That is like me saying Kobe Bryant sucks and then not backing it up at all. It doesn't have any real impact on anyone who might read it. There have also been other posts to the same effect.

Your take on Advent Children is a little better, but I still think it is misguided. That is only my opinion though, someone else may find it helpful.

That is just too funny, at least the first part about the Monster description. Seems like it might be an anime that is deep into psychlogical stuff.

Is Ergo Proxy, the first Matrix movie or the 2nd and 3rd ones? I thought the first one was great and the 2nd and 3rd ones not so much. iRobot was okay, I've only seen it once and thought it was only average.

Black Lagoon sounds like it could be a trip, especially if it was done in a comic way.

Ergo Proxy is like this. It's set in the future, and robots run all around the earth, helping humans, possessing no emotions etc.

The only reason I compare it to the matrix is because the earth is scortched and there is a "virus" that is in the air.

There is a huge problem with Robots getting infected with a virus and attacking humans. Lots of cool gunfights and awesome animation, drawn by the same folks who animated samurai champloo.

Good comparison then! That makes it make a lot more sense. Knowing the animation is done by those who did Champloo is also a plus because Champloo was done very well. I may have to look into Ergo Proxy.

Nice job keeping a level head about the final fantasy movie Vash.

Also, nice write-up by tha con.
I'll have to look into some of the anime you mentioned con.
Thanks for pointing them out.

Thank you Kent!

I also am interested in checking out the anime tha_con mentioned and its no wonder I haven't heard of any of them, as each of the series tha_con mentioned are all fairly recent releases, if not released just this year.

I stay on top of anime, haha, regular TV bores me, it's all the same over and over again. So I venture out to the internet to find good things to watch, lol.

I don't really do a whole lot of internet watching, but I need to change that. As it is right now, I pretty much just watch whatever is on Cartoon Network or a DVD if I happen to purchase one, the first is much more common.

If you have MSN or AIM you'll definately have to add me so I can enlighten you to the world of anime that isn't destoryed by english dubbing.

Japanese + English Subtitles > All other anime.

Add me for MSN or AIM if you're interested :)

I've read Monster and it is quite something...👍

BTW getting nick picky on action scenes? If every movie created was realistic we wouldn't get a lot off cars blowing up just because they crashed or rolled... They rarely do... At most, they would catch on fire. I don't see any critics complaining about that...

VashTheStampede
I'm guessing "con lude" is your screen on AIM?

yep, just drop me a line anytime.

And don't tell too many people who fictional all action sequences in movies are, it'll ruin the industry [/sarcasm]

Some people just pretend to be nitpicky because they prefer to go against the grain out of rebellion, I call it streaming conciousness of the emo mindset.

So did anyone watch JLU tonight (justice league unlimited)?

It wasn't bad.
Not great and I wouldn't say it was as good as most of what you could find on the first few seasons of the Justice League but it was still great none the less.

At one point Superman gave a little speech about living in a cardboard world and not wanting to break anything...
He then proceeded to punch Apocalypse harder than anyone has ever hit anyone in the history of cartoons.
Then after Apocalypse went through about 5 buildings, Superman was appeared (flying super fast to get there) in a spot just right to drop a mean two-handed slam on Apocalypse. 👍

So that was a pretty awesome scene.
Did anyone catch it? :D

Nope, I completely missed it; I was busy playing GT4. But I can imagine the episode being a pretty good on, as Justice League and Justice League Unlimited are good shows to watch. Not anything overly spectactular in either, but still a good watch.

This just in, Black Lagoon is much cooler than I originally thought. I love it :) Too bad there's only 3 ep's out for download :(

Ergo Proxy is getting reaaaly good by the way.

Just finished Rah-Xephon......Well actually i finished it a couple of weeks ago but not got around to posting here. Im sure a few of you have already seen it but i must say i was very impressed. I wasnt terrably keen on many of the ideas in RX at first as it was very similar to Neon Genesis which is one of my favorite shows ever, but if anything it made the show easyer to watch. The story seems deeper than NGE's but is not so deep as to make you uninterested.

For those that dont know much about it, without giving to much away, the basic plot is Kamina, a young boy and the animes protagonist, lives in Tokyo. The whole world around him has been destroyed and the population of earth is about 4/5 million. Kamina is contacted by a woman who basically turns his world upside down. There is still a world outside of tokyo and kamina becomes attached to a Xephon (large creature which kamina can control)

The story all comes together at the rights times and helps the anime flow well at quite a fast pace and shows how well the plot has been thought out.

I wont go into more details as i potentially have the ability to spoil what is a very good anime which will keep you guessing even though you kinda know what to expect (sounds odd but trust me on this)

A fantastic show which comes highly reccomended.

Next on my list is Bleach and Gundam Seed both of which are downloading now. However im kinda running into a storage problem, so it seems i will have to get another external HD. Found a good deal on a USB2 250gb Iomega HD for £82. Its not a eSATA HD or anything but its only for basic storage so i think it will do the job nicely.

Spec.....
