Also, I think I'm the only one here not madly following Kill La Kill.

Nope, I'm not following it at all.
Watched an episode or two, it wasn't bad but I'm not all crazy for it or anything.
I can't really say I've been interested in any anime lately, at this point I'm just reading a handful of mangas each week.

It does take a few episodes to hit its stride, admittedly. The whole thing really takes a more serious turn around episode 11, that's when the characters start getting some real development, and it becomes much less slice-of-life.

I'm waiting for the right time. Usually after some time has passed since the original broadcast has ended. I never watch anything that's ongoing. Otherwise, I'd turn into my parents :p I'd risk losing interest and forgetting about it. Like The Walking Dead. :(

Kill La Kill is added to my long, long, long, list of To Watch though. Definitely need to check it out.

So how big is each of those industries?
Don't really know, aside from anime itself being niche even over in Japan. It doesn't make very much money to begin with.

Manga though is mainstream in Japan.

I'm here for the obligatory recommendation of Samurai Champloo. Nujabes is something everyone must hear.

I've never seen Samurai Champloo, but I'm listening to Nujabes right now.

And yes, everyone should here Nujabes.

I was watching the first episode of kill la kil. It just didn't capture me at all sorry. I really tried to like it but idk the whole feel of it and art style is throwing me off. Then again I kinda felt that way about Toradora and ended up loving it, but toradora was actually interesting :/

Yeah I know what you mean. I wouldn't have continued to watch it if it weren't for my stubbornness. I refuse to quit on a show no matter what, if I started then I finish it. And since I kept watching, I came to love the show. And Nui.

No regrets. :)

As I said, midway through it comes into its own. There's not much point forcing you to watch it though. A pity it didn't grab you...

ahhhh no I don't wanna turn into a bronie >.<

The words "weirdest" and "boner" come to mind.

Champloo is definitely worth the time to watch it just happens to have one of the worst faults any show can have- it's done by Watanabe and therefore always gets compared to CB. :ouch:

It's a masterpiece and has nothing (directly) in common with CB other than the creator.
That said, it does share similar qualities of having an excellent soundtrack and awesome animation.

Super-size sideburns is such a weird hair style they like giving their characters. But I like that the scarf is matching the uniform colour.

Would have been wise to give us an idea of how far in you were beforehand, given how often everyone else here post about it. Or that you were actually following the show.

And as someone who isn't up-to-date on a number of other series', isn't it always better to avoid any threads or sites that may carry potential spoilers until you're completely up-to-date on matters? I've witnessed enough debating in the Walking Dead thread to know how anyone lagging behind would benefit from steering clear.

I'm with Sly in here. This is a general anime thread, and as such there is general anime discussion that can or can't include Kill la Kill (in this case). By what you're saying, if Sly (or whoever) doesn't want to be spoiled, he can't come in here and miss all the other non-KLK talk? I don't think so.

Your example with the Walking Dead thread is moot because that is a specific thread for a show. This one isn't. Please use the spoiler tags or don't hot link images or something.
