Ya'know, I just realized that I own just one figure. I picked it up off of amazon for $60 about a year ago.

Good watch I'd say.

Any recommendations for something similar? Maybe something a little lighter?

Eh, don't watch Kill la Kill around people who's respect you want though. The mc's transformed costume is pretty um... unclothed, for lack of a better word.

I don't know if its similar to Mirai Nikki, but I recommend Psycho-Pass S1. Its a "cyberpunk" cop (for lack of a better term) show that draws inspiration from Blade Runner and various other works.

Yeah, @TayeezSA I should note that in KLK the "fan service" is mostly played for laughs or drama, depending. Also, this list is pretty good, and I'm going to elaborate some on it.

NGE is, well NGE (mind-screwy and somewhat depressing), Shirobako is about the anime industry (think an anime-ized documentary on the making of an anime), Cowboy Bebop is a space western, Ghost in the Shell is more traditionally cyberpunk than Psycho-Pass and is still pretty relevant, and the rest I cannot comment on as I haven't seen them.

I will recommend Akira though.

I started that Ghost in the Shell Arise, saw the first two eps though they are a hour long each.

And it wasnt to bad not as detailed as either the old movie or the series but a good watch.
Not gonna recommend starting there if your new to the series though.

Kancolle i think ill continue with even though im not a fan of the weird fighting style where supposed to endure with, but i kinda like characters already and the WWll Japanese military theme is pretty cool.
Plus i wanna stick around and see how much or if Shimekaze or Amatsukaze play a role in the show because it was alot different than i was expecting it to be.
Looks like the second episode just dropped on CR so thats ill be doing tonight.

I haven't been able to check this for a long time.
Is Mirai Nikki even worth watching? I heard it was rather generic.

Didn't we talk about that show already?

Psycho-Pass isn't what I describe as a "light" show. But whateves

Given @C-ZETA's hate of KanColle, I'm surprised they haven't mentioned what has actually offended people as I hear. Here's some things I've heard about the games that REALLY offend one person I know (And they happen to be male)... (And their hatred of the games probably surpasses C-ZETA's)

-Taking damage=Clothes ripping away
-Bigger fuel tank=You have bigger boobs
-Repairs=Being in a hot spring
-Ships=Girls, objectification of women

animefanservice

*fixed*

What, you guys know its true.

Seriously though, does no one in Japan complain about this? Or do the otaku just keep shows like this afloat amid all of the complaining?

Let's put it this way, in Japan, they view things various things relating to sex different than us. Like rape for example is meant to be fanservice, and you're supposed to identify more with the attacker than the victim and find pleasure seeing it, yeah...

This is one of the things I REALLY hope Japan changes, they're REALLY behind the times.

So simply for something like KanColle, they enjoy whatever happens to the girls, and enjoy the mechanics of the games, such as the cringeworthy "The bigger your boobs, the bigger your fueltank is!".

Actually in KanColle greater ship displacement is what determines bust size. I read that off a Crunchyroll article somewhere, can't remember which.

Also regarding the ridiculous way that Japan sees rape and molestation etc., remember that Japan still gets away with racial stereotyping. Just putting that out there.

Or so I think...

Well when you consider Japan is xenophobic and if you're not Asian you'll stick out like a sore thumb...

What would an anime be named if Syfy had to come up with a ridiculous title? Classic examples include Sharknado and Dinocroc vs. Supergator

So I wonder... What would Syfy call the following animes?

- Black Lagoon
- Hellsing
- Gurren Lagann
- Kill la Kill
- Evangelion
- Panty and Stocking
- Samurai Champloo
- Blue Exorcist
- Attack on Titan
- Sword Art Online

Don't know, could be a pretty fun game just thinking about.

Heard that Highschool of the Dead is ecchi, but if you're into that sorta thing it could be worth the watch.

They're both ecchi... I actually preferred Highschool of the Dead because of the comedic relief.

...and the nosebleeds.

EDIT: Not flat-out ecchi, but they have ecchi elements in there.

I suppose if female anime fans tried to call for rapists to be depicted in a way harsher (i.e. realistic) light, they'd be harassed under the guise of "ethics in anime journalism".
