Finished up A Certain Magical Index II tonight, bringing an end to the series. Very enjoyable, but the prime spot of the anime was towards the middle of it, but that's not to say the rest of it wasn't enjoyable.

Onwards to A Certain Scientific Railgun. :D

I heard that it was best if you just watched the two of those at the same time, lol
But for some reason I just don't feel any interest in it. Maybe it's because it seems to be aimed toward a less mature audience because that's the audience that makes money.

Welp, I saw Watamote

Nice presentation and quite funny, however the lack of progression put me off and the embarrassing moments in the show will put some people off despite the comedy of them.

Tomoko is a really relatable character

MAL knows whats up.

Boku no Pico...... Nah son:sick:

@Roger the Horse I've been checking the reviews of the show too. Some sites have given it some hate due to the humour based on the social anxiety

I find it funny because I can relate to a few of the situations, plus Tomoko's character and fantasizing is just the best:tup:

I can see why it hits a bit too close to home for some people. Fortunately the only way to hit too close to home for a British person is to hit New Zealand (or failing that perhaps New Caledonia or New South Wales).

At the end of the day, Watamote is an all right anime, with a few outstanding elements while the rest is mediocre at best. How much one enjoys it is very subjective, and largely depends on how and how much one relates to Tomoko's character.

Anyway, apparently Escaflowne is getting a new release. Worth it?

Tomorrow I start with High School of The Dead..... This should be interesting...

If you look past the fanservice, HsOTD is actually a well-made show. Its author has sweated bullets to make the original version as darkly and morbidly realistic as possible. Then there's of course, the fanservice. XD

It's British, region 2.

Great publisher. Their stuff is rather expensive compared with some of the others but you really get what you pay for. My copy of Cowboy Bebop that I got from them has some of the best packaging I've ever encountered for anything.

Tumblr gets butthurt once more. What did you expect?

I only remembered today that Myself; Yourself existed. It's pretty damn good. While Aoi is quite possibly the most annoying little mouse to have ever lived, I think the story's not bad. Certainly better than School Days (with which it shares a similar art style).

It probably "triggers" their "PTSD". They think that anime is for "fat autistic atheist fedora-wearing neckbeard nerds" anyway, so it shouldn't really affect them, but anything associated with "nerd" culture is "sexist" and "oppressive", so whatever, they might care.

"Muh soggy knee", and all that.

...

Christ, I hate Tumblr.

Arrrrgh, if there's one thing I hate, it has to be "Tumblr feminism", or fem-nazism. These "feminists" are not striving for complete gender equality like true feminists, oh heck no: they're all a bunch of misandrist 🤬 on a seriously bad period. The catch is, said period lasts the entire time they believe in this form of so-called feminism, which is more like putrid sexism.

Most people on Tumblr are annoying. Fact.

That's the same thing I thought as soon as I read the title, but mind you, we both loved Chuunibyou, right? :P

I personally think it's worth the watch. It is a tad slow at the start but as it proceeds onwards it gets very interesting.

It's R17, by the way, so it's not really a younger audience anime. :P

We're still on the Subject of Watamote or nah?

I haven't actually seen anyone like this on Tumblr, but then I don't go near the bit that might think that anyway. Only the proper and good parts of it. Wherever they may be.

All fair arguments towards Tumblr too. However I've always noticed it's not just feminism that some deal with - they find literally anything wrong with the world and complain about it and say it's all going wrong. Sometimes they'll even take the 'good' side of some current affair and show us some 'shocking' stats towards the 'bad' side, and make us feel sympathy for the 'bad' side. Yeah, nice ****ing try. Go back to crying behind your complaint wall, which is probably 'all you live for'. My word...

I prefer to use it as an actual blog. I mean when you take away the people it's a great way of saying whatever the hell you want (on your own interests, not current 'problems') without anyone really giving a toss.

I always get jealous when I see some of their stuff. Unfortunately with how much anime has been devalued here and sales slipped due to prices dropping (i.e. the price cuts didn't cause much of an increase in sales), getting nice stuff can be tougher. The singles era was so much better, while anime was much more expensive ($30-$40 for 3-4 episodes), you got nicer stuff. Neat pack-ins (Posters, shirts, booklets, reversible-covers, CD's, pencil boards), thick fat artboxes, among other stuff.

What truly makes me jealous these days though is European releases since in Europe people actually buy anime instead of going "$20 for the whole show? OVERPRICED!!!!". Just looking through these threads makes me so jealous.

Let's just say it, here in Italy we know and love our anime. Hell, this is pretty much your average Italian's reaction to anime (just replace the word "chocolate" with "anime"). ;)
And damn, they actually made an Italian dub of Sword Art Online?! If so... I'm off to watch it! Still waiting for an Italian dub of Kill la Kill, though, and - God permit - a full Italian dubbing of both seasons of High School DxD, as well as the upcoming 3rd season. At least DxD's manga adaptation was localized. :3

Hm? I was replying to @Not_A_Guest regarding A Certain Magical Index...?

Ah I see, I got confused. Must be the heat, there is a heatwave here in SA after all :boggled:

Am I the only one who finds the humor in Watamote from how relatable it is?

You're not the only one, I related to few a instances

@TheCorvette In South Africa, one of the only Anime/Comic stores here called AnimeWorx, had Future Diary Part 1 going for R900/USD$85 .... Mind you, that is the DVD, not the Blu Ray. The prices for anime here will make you cry. Mostly because our Anime is Imported , I think from Australia but don't take my word on that. Thank the Lord for streaming!

Which brings me to this question, for those of you in the States, Crunchyroll or Funimation for streaming?

I know prices far higher than what you have, so unless they're higher, they can't make me cry. Japanese ones, where you pay like $50-$70 for 2-4 episodes. I paid $440+ to import all 12 episodes of IS: Infinite Stratos 2. I also paid $370 to get all of the first half of Fate/Zero back when the yen was strong. I've done a decent amount of importing, so I've felt those prices, despite the dollar getting stronger than the yen ($1=around 120 yen these days).

As for streaming, CR>>>>>FUNi

CR has always had the better video player. Though there's the usual video quality issues. Hello The Pet Girl of Sakurasou being completely plagued by banding. (FUNi has issues too. Hello banding on Absolute Duo.)
