Is Ghost in the Shell the one that has been advertised a whole lot on CTN? If it is, or whatever has been advertised on CTN, it really makes me wonder if CTN is going to start showing the series or not. It would almost makes sense with all the exposure it has been getting.

I just picked up Ghost in the shell: standalone complex and Evangelion platnium 01 both pretty desent dvds.

!!!!!!!!! Hey!! My favorite series!! (Besides Lain and FLCL)...... Eva is definately one of the best before the millenium (or so I claim)..... And Ghost in the Shell is awesome (according to the movie, not seen the TV series).....

BTW, I have my eyes on ExcelSaga and Hellsing boxsets for the moment..... (Don't have the money yet)

I'd like to see Ghost in the Shell series on CN, but I'd rather see Rurouni Kenshin first, slot it in Adult Swim and show uncut version. I also like Excel Saga, I rented it back on Blockbuster and looks like its a decent buy.

I think some of the Ghost in the shell could get censored maybe for some of its violence? I dont know whether that will happen or not but it does have some violence in it. I havnet seen adult swim yet so maybe it wont be censored.

Evangelion is a brilliant series.

hey ppl, longtime no see, they took of the NGE series
:grumpy: :grumpy:

Rurouni Kenshin is by far one of the best Animes of all time and one of the most violent (Ninja Scroll aside). I think it deserves to be back on Adult Swim, dang I miss seeing that reverse blade katana. GITS is ok, but deserves to be on the Anime Network than to be on CN. At least CN has the RK series on hand, so it will be a lot easier for them to show it.

BTW, nice to see you back NK4E. 👍

Rurouni Kenshin definitely needs to be brought back onto the air on CTN. What were they thinking taking it off in the first place?!?! :banghead:

Is Ghost in the Shell the DVDs they keep advertising that are now on sale? If that is so, I would definitely like to see it brought to CTN. The previews look pretty good for it. 👍

Indeed Kenshin is good. 👍
I loved it and once it went to cable I recorded every episode on my old VHS. 👍

On a side note though, RK is not nearly as violent as some of the other stuff out there (just my opinion).

First thought in my mind was a really early anime for me... Fist of the North Star. Fist was really, really, head exploding violent. Very similar to a 1980's version of "ninja scroll violence."
Only Fist of the North Star is a huge series of individual episodes (also availible in movie format).

So "FOTNS" certainly is a notable violent anime. ;)

With that sort of anime in mind, I say that anime can get even worse. The Japanese have some amazing imaginations.

Any way...

:D

Hope things went well. 👍 ?
I kept up on a bit of Inu Yasha throughout the re-run week day shows incase you missed.

Also, glad to see someone mention the new Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex.

I learned of the series a long time ago.
It's been in the works for a while and until I saw previews and release dates just recently, I had thought it was all ready realesed.

Sadly it is not... Sorta...

Actually, the first installment has been released in America with 2 more dvds coming after it (closely).
Everything should be out by christmas ( I am guessing).

You can probably find out more here

Any way, I'm out.
But
👍 violent anime & 👍 Ghost in the Shell

Later. :D

I think the reason why they took it out (on the "Saturday" slot before it was replaced by Toonami) is that CN realized that the RK is way too violent to be slotted on the Toonami block, but heres where I scratched my skull, how come they didn't tranferred those episodes on the Adult Swim block? In which Adult Swim is the best suited of RK to be shown this side of HBO, what a stupid way to get rid of RK. While right now almost all the anime slots in Adult Swim are all reruns and they stopped airing Witch Hunter Robin where its getting good. :grumpy:

Well CTN really needs to do something to get RK back on the air. I don't care what they do just get it back on air. Adult Swim is not all that great right now. Though I do not mind the reruns of Inu Yasha, as they are getting me caught up in the series and tell me everything I could ever want to know about what I don't know . . . if that makes any sense at all. Case Closed is definitely good and I hope it stays on for a good while. 👍 But I will say I have seen every episode of Family Guy, Futurama, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, and Lupin III, so those are somewhat boring because of that.

GoKents,

I didn't really miss any of Inu Yasha while I was gone, though I could not tell you a thing of what happened in any of the episodes. I was pretty much asleep while I was watching most of them and did not pay a whole lot of attention to the TV, so I missed parts of each episode. Though I did catch the part where Sango was betrayed by Naraku (go figure . . . ) and that is about all I remember of the episodes I saw.

it fills to be back, i have been in a anime forum and the drifting forum

Same here I've been going back-and -forth from here and Drag Racing Pinoy and back. And also on Cars and Games in General forum. :)

my fav anime is...Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien, go watch it!!! xD
intersted...please enlighten us. comedy? sci-fi? mutating vegtables? hospital drama? all of thee above?

they should play more mecha...
no kidding seito,
some gasaraki, nadesico, getter robo, patlabor, manziger, gaogaodagar..something.
While on robo, curently playing super robot taisen 3 alpha for ps2, its jammed with SD giant robo heros for the past 20 years or so. It will play corresponding theme music for each attack, bathroom break. or unions that were just never meant to be. Like eva unit 2 and a gekiganger type in team attack 6, pattern F.

peace and good night *collapses at mercy of high angled screen*

ah, when that shinseiki eva game came out on ps2 i almost busted a nut..wait, i did bust a nut..nvm (It's a really fun game if you are an Evangelion fan [note] the old N64 game is pretty cool too)

Nope, but I will soon, as I am going to buy it here in the next couple of days. Oh and Best Buy is having a sale on anime this week. 20% off all anime!

Though, other than Gungrave, I don't really know what else I want to buy. I am kinda thinking about getting Wolf's Rain, Ghost in the Shell, or Excel Saga. I don't really know enough about Wolf's Rain to give myself a go ahead and go buy it too. Same goes with Ghost in the Shell. Could someone tell me more about Wolf's Rain? I know it is from the same people who made Bebop, but I have yet to find a review on the web for it that really tells me anything at all.

(saturday anime will come later, if at all :( just tired right now)

However,

Vash,
Wolf Rain is basically about the idea that humans came from an old civilization of wolves.
Then it picks up on the idea that there are some people out there who are actually wolves and then can change between human and wolf form.

The base story:
A long complex story of Wars between nobles, love between species and the persecution of wolves, all the while, following a group of wolves in search of paradise.

That's not to mention the personal stories and character development of the wolves, the wolf hunters and the nobles.

Personally, I don't really like the series much.
However, it is quality.
Just keep in mind that even though it is from the same creators, being a fan of Cowboy Bebop does not necessarily mean you will like Wolf's Rain.

If I was you, I would buy Ghost in the Shell.
First off because I bought the original movie a long time back and have loved it since.

But secondly, and more importantly, Ghost in the Shell is an awesome concept.

If you were thinking about getting the original movie. 👍
If you were thinking about getting the new series. 👍

I still haven't gotten "Stand Alone Complex," but damn am I excited to see it.
I just can't wait to see what the story is, none the less, see that awesome animation. :D

Any way, good luck in your choices.

Well I don't think I will get Wolf's Rain, at least not until I have seen some more of it on TV. Every review I looked at on the internet was basically the exact same thing, except with slightly different words. And no offense to you GoKents, but I see some of the same things appearing yet again in what you have said about it. It almost leads me to believe that Wolf's Rain is kinda one-dimensional.

I think I will see if they happen to have the Ghost in the Shell movie in, buy it, watch it, and see if I like the movie. Then if I do go back and buy some of the series.

Gungrave is definitely a go though for me. It is from Yasuhiro Nightow, creator of Trigun nonetheless, and because it is from him, it has kinda gotten me pumped for another good series.

Sounds like a good plan to me. 👍

I must say, I am not at all offended by your comments. Actually, they are almost complimentary!
You see, I have only watched 2 or 3 full episodes and 5 or 6 10-minute clips of Wolf's Rain.

If I was able to explain it that closely to what other actually review sites are saying, then I am pleased with my writing.

Just on a side note though, I wanted to let you know that Ghost in the Shell is a great movie in my opinion.

There is only one problem with it if you ask me...
The philosophical times of the movie can be a bit dull.

With that out of the way though, you get an awesome Sci-fi action flick with a bad ass chick as the main character. 👍

The detail of the animation in all aspects of the movie is top notch.

Only one thing concerns me about talking with you regarding your next purchase.
Actually purchasing the anime.

I think that you should try to rent Ghost.
That way you can find out if you will like it or not.

Personally, I am a big fan (as you can tell), so I am going to fork up the money for each of the Stand Alone Complex DVDs (hopefully).
(keep in mind that nothing of a "collectors edition" will be bought. :cheapskate: )

Any way,
Again, good luck on your purchase and choose wisely. :oldKnightfromIndianaJones:

Not everything you said about the series is what the reviews said, it is just the reviews were so completely the same that it annoyed me. But nice job on your part in being able to find the same about what you have watched of the series. 👍

Well I just am going to say that I hate renting anything. I do not feel like paying money on something, especially if it is good enough to buy, that will only be used to temporarily "own" the movie. The only place of that I know rents anime around here at the moment is Blockbuster and paying five+ dollars to rent something just does not agree with my ways of reasoning.

Plus if the movie is action, sci-fi, and well done, then more than likely I will like it. I like sci-fi stuff and well action do I need to actually tell how good it is. I will take your word of how good the movie is and give it a try.

Good deal, go get yourself Ghost In The Shell.
It really is a classic. 👍

And regarding your attitude towards renting... it reminds me of George Patton who once replied to the suggestion of retreat by saying something like...
"I don't like paying for the same real-estate twice."

I would say that is a good saying to remember... or at least for you it might be better to say "I don't like paying for the same anime twice" !

:D

Patton was a great man. Not only was he a tactical genius, he is also one of the best people to quote.

Now I offer you another of his quotes, "May God have mercy upon my enemies, because I won't".
