You are starting to really slack GoKents! You really need to pick up the pace.

Leave me alone about my anime reviews, I have so much anime right now that I do not know where to begin. I have still yet to watch the rest of Gungrave and have not even touched Akira or GITS:SAC yet. I did watch the very beginning of the first episode of Rurouni Kenshin though and I have to say I love the series. The humor in it is just great stuff! 👍 Though I have not watched much of what I have bought yet, I did watch about the first six episodes of Neon Genesis Evangelion and I have to say I am very impressed with the animation. The story has a whole lot of depth to it and I just need to watch more of it.

Gosh, I have so much anime to watch and so little time. What a dilemma I have! Well not this week, but the next one, I should have plenty of time, as this week is my last of work. So I will have a whole week off before college starts and I will need something to do before then, so thus anime watching more than likely.

Who watches anime? ME :dopey:

What animes do you like?
  • Love Hina
  • Chobits (:()
  • Excel Saga
  • Initial D (but I'm not obsessed with drifting, I just like watching a fictional show...)
  • Trigun
  • Slayers
  • Dual! Parallel Trouble
  • Neon Genesis Evangelion
  • Final Fantasy Unlimited

Are you into anything else directly related to anime? does manga count? I've read the Chobits, Love Hina, some of Initial D, some of Ranma 1/2, and some of Inuyasha.

What is your fav. anime series? Either Chobits (even though its so sad), Initial D (yet agian, just like the show...), or NGE..

What is your fav. anime movie? Probably the "End of Evangelion" movie.

Alright, another person to talk about anime with! It is always good to get another person to talk anime with. 👍

Nice avatar!

Big Time!

Back soon w/ anime related crap, till then,
-

All though I don't like the avatar, I do like the list of anime.

Actually, I am suprised to see "Dual" on that list.
Not that the show is bad, or that it isn't worth being on the list.

It's just that I haven't seen any one mention it in this thread besides (I think) maybe 1 person who I also mentioned something to.

Personally, I really liked "Dual" as a late night anime, especially since nothing else was on. The humor of the show was really great, and the mech designs weren't bad. So all in all, I liked the series.

Really the only problem I have with "Dual" is who owns the broad casting rights in America... G4TechTV.

They don't even show it any more and it was one of their best shows.
Hell, it may have been their best show!

Really the only problem I have with "Dual" is who owns the broad casting rights in America... G4TechTV.

I HATE G4TechTV. They ruined a perfectly good channel... I liked the old TechTV... they combined a computer channel with a "sports" channel... how dumb is that? :grumpy: 👎 👎 :nervous:

Anyway....

Yeah, Dual! is one of my favs. The lightheartedness is great after watching somthing super serious or sad... I watched the ending of Chobits the other night, which is like super sad to me (especially since it hits close to home :(), and I wanted somthing funny but noooo my friend has my copy of Excel Saga haha. I ended up turning to Dual.

The only probs I had with the mechs of dual was the high heel. The rest was good.

The only thing about it.... my copy, which is just japanese with subs, not dubbed, sometimes calls the "bad guys" the RaRa Empire and sometimes its the LaLa Empire...

VashTheStampede
I thought it was pretty funny.

I thought it was mostly funny... parts were just too far, parts were just dumb, the rest were funny... but lets not spoil the anime thread with talk of the whole political thing... frankly I'm getting tired of the whole political "I know what you did when you said you did somthing else" mess.... and I've gotten tired of that avatar too, so if you like it save it Vash, I'm changing sometime tomorrow when I get around to making a new one...

Since you mentioned G4TechTV, I just recently watched it for the first time. As far as I know right now, I do not get the channel. But right now do they have any anime on showing the channel? I will be severely disappointed in myself for not flipping over there a couple more times if they had anime on it.

well, TechTV (pre-merger) used to show several. I'm not sure what they were for sure, I'd have to ask my friend that gets it. I don't think they show any now, but I could be wrong... I think cartoon network does, but I don't know for sure. The only anime I get on my normal broadcasting thing is Pokemon and YuGiOh

G4TechTV still shows Anime Unleashed. They have such shows as Banner of the Stars, Crest of the Stars, Last Exile, Duel!, Geneshaft, etc.

G4TechTV is a great channel. G4 is purely a videogame network and Tech TV is an all technology network, putting both together only makes both better.

Well,

I don't really have problems with techtv too much.
Right now they do show all the shows listed above... The thing is, they aren't showing "Dual" for at least a few months. In fact, I spent an entire night scrolling through their schedule for Anime Unleashed and in all that time I found that "Dual" isn't getting air time until after the summer (at the earliest).

Next comes my newest problem...
I'm sure some of you have noticed, but 2 shows are going to be cancelled on Cartoon Network.
1) Aqua Teen Hunger Force:
This sucks big time for me since I absolutely love watching that show at the end of the night once I've had my alcohol intake.
Next...
2) Inu Yasha:
That's right they are taking Inu Yasha off air.
Does that mean they will only show new episodes once a week on saturday? I have no clue.
Does it mean they will not even be showing the new episodes? I don't know, but I hope not.

When they get the reruns of IY off air I will be unhappy. If they take the new episodes off of the saturday schedule, then I will be really, really pissed off!

Inu Yasha and Case Closed are about the only 2 shows I watch on a daily basis. ATHF comes in with a semi-daily schedule, and the rest just fall into my "seen-it-a-million-times-before" category.

Not to whine, but for real, think about this...
Inu Yasha has tons and tons of episodes, at least 5 seasons to be a bit closer to the truth.

So with that many episodes, do you think they need to worry about reruns being showed too often?

Hey, maybe that's why Inu Yasha will go off air.

Maybe they can't show reruns often enough for people to get sickened by them.

I mean,
Cowboy Bebop: 1 season that has been aired at least 8 times.
Family Guy: 2 seasons that have been aired non-stop since CN got the rights.
Futur-ama: ? seasons shown enough times for me to know I'm tired of it.

All of the above listed shows are good shows 👍
But all of them are taking presidence over the long term story of Inu Yasha.
So that makes me mad.

Not just because I am a huge Inu Yasha fan, but really because it shows me that CN has no sense when it comes to scheduling.

If I was cartoon network's Adult Swim head executive, I would go with the old strategy on weekdays and weekends (with my own twist).

I would stick to blocking up the subjects.
Anime for one section of the weekday block.
Comedy for the other section.
Then on week ends I would do a day of anime and a day of comedy (anime on saturday, comedy on sunday).

Let's say the weekday block is 4 hours...
2 hours for comedy: Family Guy, Futurama, ATHF, unknown CN pick
2 hours for Anime: Inu Yasha, Cowboy Bebop, Roununi Kenshin, Random CN pick

Then, let's say the weekend blocks were about 5 or 6 hours.
With that sort of time you could air everything you wanted.
Saturday: (every anime CN has) Yu Yu, CB, IY, RK, WR, WHR, etc, etc.
Sunday: (every cheesy comedy CN has) Home movies, brak, Harvey bird man, ATHF, etc, etc.

So would you all go with something like that as well?

And do you think taking Inu Yasha off air, as well as ATHF, is a good idea?

On a final note:
The only way CN could make me feel all right about the new moves they are taking would be to replace those two shows on their weekday spots with something that is really good.

On that same note, does anyone know what the deal is with their commercials for an "old school anime" starting at midnight?
I hope they aren't reffering to Case Closed & Lupin.
Even worse, I hope they aren't going to put on some dumb crap that only carries weight due to it's age. :scared:

Don't get me wrong, I know old school, I like old school, but I am also savy enough to know that Speed racer and voltron just aren't gonna cut it when I'm looking for an anime fix.

So yeah, try to address all of the above if possible, or just hit the spots you like.
Either way, get back to me as usual. :D

Later. :sly:

ViperZero
G4 is purely a videogame network

Then what is with all the fitness shows, fighting shows, etc that is shown on there? I saw it with my own eyes while at my friends house. I would tell you the names of the shows I mean, but I didn't make note of them. I just know when I'd flip through it'd be some kickboxing thing and every time I went to that channel within the hour it was on. Unless they stopped showing them recently, its not just a video game channel. It didn't get better to me or my friend here that watched it. TechTV was better when it had the old Screen Savers (which has been just messed up terribly IMO), and a few other technical shows. Some people like the technical side of things instead of just video games. I admit I like XPlay, but ONE video game show on a channel is enough, not video games most of the time.

GoKents
Well,
Cowboy Bebop: 1 season that has been aired at least 8 times.
Family Guy: 2 seasons that have been aired non-stop since CN got the rights.

Wasn't Cowboy Bebop made of 2 seasons and a movie? I know I have a copy of 26 eps plus the "Knockin On Heaven's Door" movie.

Also, Family Guy is returning to Fox with all new episodes, they say, supposidly somtime in the next week. They've advertised it non-stop. I think its on fridays, they were advertising it as an alternative to the Olymics. 👍

I can see the rapid cancellations of its Anime slots on Adult Swim lately, its like they're loosing touch now.

For example:
-Inu Yasha is doing fine with those reruns on weekdays and new episodes on Saturday night. But will be cancelled soon!!?? It will be an outrage!!!

-For the love of God, please enough of Cowboy Bebop already!!! The reruns takes forever!!!

-Where are the reruns of Witch Hunter Robin, FLCL, and Wolf's Rain?

-Lupin the III has more episode than that!

-Why is ATHF got cancelled all of the sudden??!!! (thats the best non-anime slot on AW)

-Case Closed/Detective Conan deserves to be put on an earlier slot (after Inu Yasha is the perfect slot to that)

-Right now, Toonami has the juicier line-up now compared to AW, in which before its the other way around.

-The Venture Bros. suck. Why oh why did they put that crap in???

These are only my opinion, to shut myself up, we need the Anime Network here in Vegas!!!
Hear that Cox Communications???!!!!

Well I don't really know the number of seasons, just the episodes.

I guess 13 episodes works since it is a quarter of a year in weekly terms.

However, with 1 episode a week you still have only a half year's worth of shows from that series.

Don't get me wrong, I really, really love bebop.

Problem is, I have literally seen the entire series over # times now. (It is really a countless number since it has been so many! )

Hell! the first advertised anime for adult swim was Cowboy Bebop, and since that time (about 2 or 3 years ago) they have aired the entire 26 episode series a dozen times.

At first it was only once a week, but then AS went to weekdays...
Think about it... 26 episodes for a schedule that shows 5 or 6 episodes a week?
That's an aweful lot of reruns.

I think 1 reason I get pissed off with them is not so much that I am tired of bebop, but more that I am tired of the screwy managment.

The guys at CN got their hands on the rights to show Evangelion during the Giant Robo Week, why can't they put out that effort to get Eva on adult swim?

I would have appreciated Eva on adult swim so much more than witch hunter robin!

Or what about the fact that they have been showing all of these other shows, yet they can't find the time to get Kenshin back on air (in any block none the less).

It's not like I demand Kenshin on adult swim... edit the hell out of it, I don't care, it will still be better than big O or Venture Bros, I mean come on!

So yeah... I'm just saying that Adult Swim needs to go back to the formula that originally made it so popular.

Cowboy Bebop
Inu Yasha
Trigun
Kenshin
(other animes unshown before on American Cable Television)

All of those are great shows and yet CN manages to screw them up with poor managment.

One of the biggest problems in this is that I am a very, very accepting person when it comes to my anime on cable.
Dubbing, editing, any of that crap! None of it bothers me much since I am getting anime on American Cable Television.

However, when they start to neglect the best shows they have, or when they start to screw with scheduling so we get 1 series month after month and another series once every 6 months, it gets old!

Why is it that adult swim and cartoon network insist on using the most popular series in their schedules as a tool to attact viewers to other shows?
I thought the whole atmosphere of Adult Swim was to go against the grain, not follow in the foot steps of ABC and CBS.

Any way, sorry to get loud... just getting frustrated with the idea of how these guys run the show, that's all.
Sorry all you cartoon net execs (if you're reading this)...

btw, Vanishing Boy,
Can I just count this as a second part to your post?
You said a bunch that I couldn't have said better myself! :D

I agree with everyone on the cancelling of Inu Yasha. The series is so long that reruns happen one in a blue moon and Rurouni Kenshin would be the same way if they were to bring it to the schedule since it is 95 or 96 episodes long. Could anyone tell me actually how many episodes there are of RK? I remember reading about a hidden episode or lost episode and for some reason it was like number 96. [EDIT]Is Rurouni Kenshin ever going to be put back or just fall off in to unknown recognition by CTN? Seems like the later right now.[/EDIT]

How long has Cowboy Bebop been on the air? If some one has yet to watch it, well then that is there fault for not watching it. I would not complain at all, even though I have yet to see all of Bebop in order; but that does matter because I have it on DVD. :)

I definitely want to see FLCL back on the air, as I never watched it when it was on. And they really do not have to keep it on all that long considering it is only six episodes long.

I also feel the same about wanting to see Witch Hunter Robin, as I never watched it either.

Wouldn't it be kinda hard to show Wolf's Rain when the series has yet to finish on it's Saturday post? But as soon as it is done there, I think it would be nice to have it nightly for a while or something.

I have seen every episode of Lupin III that has been aired on CTN about 12 billion times, along with every episode of Futurama, Family Guy, and ATHF. All three of these though, I sure would like to see new episodes of them; but it seems that that will not be happening any time soon, unless Fox picks up Futurama or Family Guy again. [EDIT]When are they actually going to show more of Lupin III? Is what they have now currently all have rights to or what? :odd:[/EDIT]

Does any one know why ATHF has been cancelled? They just put it on AS recently and it seems that it will not be shown any more.

Case Closed definitely needs to be on earlier.

[EDIT]As it is right now, I only watch Inu Yasha and Case Closed because I have seen every episode of the other series more times than I am willing to count with the exception of SeaLab. I have yet to watch any of SeaLab 2021; it does not have the same appeal to me that ATHF does. I have really found the humor in the show that I have in ATHF. Maybe I should give it more of a chance, I don't really know.[/EDIT]

Crap [AW] is putting crap like Venture Bros. and the corny Mission Hill.

Why not [AW] stay the same as it was before, I was glued to the set when [AW] started.

Vash,

I'm actually thinking that case closed may be on late because of its content.

I'm sure all of you have noticed that the editors probably had their hands full when it came time to put an American version on the market.

All of the deaths in CC are violent and most of them are pretty graphic about it.
Even in the Adult Swim content there is graphic content not suitable for some viewers. ;)

Gotta run for now, but back soon. :D

Well I have to say that tonight's episode of Inu Yasha hit home hard for some reason. Whether it was the fact that I could relate to Jinenji in a way or the fact that people in general need to be more understanding of each other. Either way I could take something from both points made within the episode.

And now for another good episode of Case Closed! 👍

actually, when AS first aired, it was twice a week. on sunday and i think either wednesday or thursday.

i remember the original adult swim advertisments from a year before it was created like it was yesterday.
