Tien... Tri-beam... 👍

Ahh yes...Tien's desperate attempt to defeat 2nd stage Cell with his Tri-beam cannon. Definately earns him some rep for that one.
But I forget the last time Yamcha achieved something through fighting, save for his fights in the original Dragon Ball series. But what do you believe are some feats he achieved in Dragon Ball Z? As I fail to think of one...

Yamcha, for what I can recall, has no acheivement to bragg about in DBZ. However, that is exactly what makes him an important character.

Much like Krillan, he represents all of us... The normal people (who just happen to still be more amazing than all but aliens). In DB he was important in various ways but in DBZ he was a "control." A sort of base for us to judge power.

Yamcha is the reminder that the saiyans are amazing. 👍
At the same time, I believe he killed one of the weakingly green aliens from the early saiyan/vegeta dbz stuff (sadly he died in the process, that is, if he even killed the green alien).

I agree with Kent on Yamcha. He filled his role. And though he was a very weak character towards the end, he was still very cool to the people who followed the original Dragon Ball. He was bit like a Vegeta, early on. OK, much nicer.

I agree with the DBZ comment. All of the fight being drawn out over 15-20 episodes gets old very quickly. I thought up to the Cell saga that DBZ was pretty good, after that with Buu it was not near as good.
As you probably already know, it is based on the comic books. In the comics, those long battles were epic, artform(IMO). I never watched much of Dragon Ball anything on TV, but I don't think it would have translated very well onto the screen.

The publisher Toriyama Akira(creator) was working for, they insisted on the Majin Buu. I believe Toriyama wanted to quit after Cell(those were the days, huh?), but DBZ were making so much money, Jump Magazine that carried the comic wouldn't let him off the hook. While Buu was at times boring, I think it worked out OK. I don't think the fans were ready to let go of the DBZ either, not just the publisher. :D

Was it just me or was AS extra gory tonight? And by that I mean, between Trinity Blood, Bleach, and Eureka Seven, blood was flying everywhere. I was not expecting this intense of a night from AS, but it definitely delievered.

I just happened to wake up a little before the second showing of Trinity Blood. From what I saw on the first episode, I definitely think I will be making it one of the shows I am sure to catch every Saturday. The main character, Abel Nightroad, we have seen so far is a good one. He comes off as making a fool of himself, but when the times comes no one will be able to stop him. That sure does sound like someone familiar. If the series continues like the first episode, then I think it is going to be a good one. 👍

Bleach was also good stuff tonight. 👍 The story is a little different, but looks like it could make for an interesting one. I do not have as much to say about Bleach for the moment because I did not think the first episode of it was quite as strong as Trinity Blood's, but still very good nonetheless.

And finally Eureka Seven! 👍 Tonight's episode was absolutely great stuff. Holland was totally wailing on Renton for a while and Renton finally figured something out about Holland. This caused Renton to go berserk and at the same time, the Nirvash. The battle scene with Renton piloting the Nirvash to save Holland was top notch and great stuff. 👍 I found myself leaning towards the TV during the battle scene. The Nirvash just ripped through KLF after KLF; they stood absolutely no chance of survival whatsoever.

So I for one am definitely looking forward to next Saturday's AS lineup. Having Trinity Blood, Bleach, and Eureka Seven all back-to-back-to-back is going to make for really good programming and an hour and a half of very good anime. 👍

Now all I need to do is watch the last two week's of Naruto. Hopefully I will be able to find a little bit of time later to do that. Between the NFL kicking their season off, the F1 race at Monza, the final US Open match, and a ton of homework to do, I doubt there is reallly going to be much time to watch Naruto. I also have another two hours of another show to watch . . . there is just not enough time for anything at the moment. And . . . bloody homework!

I wish I had caught that episode of Eureka7. :ouch:
When you say "renton figured out..."
What do you mean? Obviously I missed something big. :(

I've known for a while there was something between Holland, his past, Renton, and Renton's origin.

If you could fill me in on that Vash I would appreicate it.
Thanks in advance,
-Kent

I don't really know if he figured something out, so much as he finally realized that Holland also always wants to protect Eureka. So much so, that he went on a near suicidal mission to save one of the priests from the Voderac from one of the military's prisons. Knowing that the priest would most likely be able to help Eureka.

Renton also finally realized that the Gekko State are at war with the military, not that the Gekko State is a bunch of people who are constantly looking to ride Trapar waves. He realizes this when he keeps beating on one of the military's KLF and sees a man's arm laying on the ground detached from the body, more specifically that the man had a wedding ring on one of his fingers.

You really missed out Kent. That episode was one of the best of Eureka Seven so far. Renton totally ripped through KLF after KLF. The animation was top notch and it was great to finally see a lot of action in a spurt like that, as I knew it had to be coming. Not to say all of the episodes have not had any action because some of them have had action in them, this particular episode had Renton going berserk in the Nirvash and absolutely nothing was going to stop him. For comparison sake, during this battle, the Nirvash looked somewhat like Mel Gibson in Braveheart after the many battles, absolutely covered in blood. The Nirvash was an absolute animal. 👍

And about this week's rundown of anime on Cartoon Network and Adult Swim. Naruto was a pretty good episode. The episode was the one in which Kakashi passes Naruto off to Ebisu to be his trainer before the final part of the Chunin Exams. There were some very comical parts between Naruto and Ebisu. Good stuff! 👍 Looking forward to the next episode.

Trinity Blood had another good episode. Good amounts of action throughout the episode and we got to meet another new character in Father Tres Iqus. It is apparent very early in the episode that Tres in not normal, in that his characteristics do not show him to be very human, even though his appearance says so. He is in fact an android, a dual wielding gun android and a very efficient one at that. We also got to see a little bit more of Father Nightroad's abilities when it comes to killing vampires.

Bleach's episode was an alright one. It advanced the story a little in that Ichigo learns more about being a Soul Reaper and some of the responsibilites of being a Soul Reaper. We also got a small bit of insight into what the Hollows are and how they came about to being a Hollow. Though nothing very major was revealed in either of the two I just talked about, a little insight is better than none.

Eureka Seven went a little deeper into what I have already talked about above. It really was more of revealing of Renton realizing that the Gekko State are at war and showing Eureka recovering slowly from her previous bad condition. The episode also showed Renton having a nightmare about the previously mentioned detached arm. It is because of Holland not allowing Renton to see and talk to Eureka, the fact that they are at war, and no one giving Renton any sympathetic attention that Renton decides to leave the Gekko State. It is pretty much at this point where Talho finds out that Renton has left that the episode ends.

And it was another great night for anime! Between Naruto and the lineup on Adult Swim, any anime fan should be really enjoying each Saturday. Looking forward to next Saturday and the anime that ensues. 👍

No it has not, the tournament at the end of the Chunin Exams has not even started yet. All of the ninja who passed all the previous tests have a month off to train and learn new skills before the tournament. The next episode we get to meet Jiraiya.

Someone give that man some positive rep! (I can't do it yet)
Do it because he deserves it. Look at that post! It's great and does an excellent job of getting down on anime the way we should all try to do in this thread (not those one line spammy replies :yuck: ).

And man oh man do I wish I hadn't skipped that episode. I would love to catch it and I'm sure there will be a re-run sometime in the future.
However, for now, I'm going to have to agree with nearly everything Vash said.
The one contention I have is with his optimism about Trinity Blood. Not that I haven't enjoyed it so far, but... and this is a big but...
I'm worried there will be too much philosophy without substance. Hopefully they will not get too deep into the philosophical side of religion. However, based on anime from the past, I'm going to guess that phil. will come up and it just will not be developed well enough for us to really appreciate.
Either that or the phil. will be too well developed and the language/ cultural divide will contribute to us fat-dumb-americans not understanding.

In anycase, all the shows look great but Trinity Blood is going to be walking a thin line until I see more of the show to make a better decision about whether or not I like what I see.
Like I said though, for the time being, the show looks great. 👍

Anyone here know who the creative forces behind Trin. Blood are? (any ties to other animes out there that we may know of?)

Oh and again, somebody rep that fellas post! It's just too much quality and quantity to ignore!

Hi Kent,

Thought id stick my nose in as i havnt been in here for a while. When i want to research animes i usually use a website called animenfo (Boundary Layer let me in on this little gem a while ago),www.animenfo.com, its not got tons of information but it does have a large anime directory and does tell you the basics such as the studio, actors voices etc. Its enough to help you on your search and im sure the search facility on the site can be used more effectively than i do! (i just type in the anime name and bobs your uncle) Maybe you can search for studios etc......

Animenfo says tha the studio behind Trinity Blood is " Gonzo Digimation"
Clicky here for link to info

If you click on the hyperlink for Gonzo Digimation it brings up a list of all other animes they have had a hand in

Click here for animations connected with the sudio

Gonzo Digimation seems to have been the studio behind Full Metal Panic

Hope this helps you out

Thanks, I much appreicate the heads up. 👍
Rep for that (which also means I'm one step closer to being able to give Vash the rep he deserves). (I don't give out enough rep so Vash has to wait a while before he can get rep from me again) (that's despite the fact that I last gave it to him last before summer)

In anycase, thanks again for the info and the link Ben (if I can call you that).

Well thanks again for the link Ben.

Also, the rep I gave you for your helpful and informative post was by chance the last rep I needed to give out before I could hit Vash in honor of that excellent post above.

So with that said, I finally got you for that awesome post Vash. Thanks for keeping me up to date and taking the time to explain just where saturday anime is going.
Man that takes me back too... Remember when I used to come in this thread and post throughout saturday nights giving recaps of everything?
Looks like it has all come full circle. 👍

You are much too kind, I am just pretty pumped about the current lineup Adult Swim and Cartoon Network are giving up with Naruto, Eureka Seven, Trinity Blood, Bleach, and getting close to wrapping InuYasha up. I look forward to every Saturday right now at the moment. Saturdays are pretty much the only bright day of my week at the moment with this semester of college sucking so much. Between OU football and the excellent anime, Saturdays make for very great days.

I agree with what you have said about Trinity Blood. I will not mind some philosophical stuff so much as long as the action we have seen so far continues. Hopefully they can maintain both in a balance much like what was done in Trigun with the two.

For another reference on finding stuff about anime, I tend to use Wikipedia. Wikipedia offers all kinds of great information on just about everything in the world. Trinity Blood Wiki

Thanks for the link to the site! 👍 I will also definitely check it out and see what I can find on all kinds of things. + Rep  Except I cannot give you anymore rep at the moment! Dang! I don't post enough to be giving rep around all the time. Well good post nonetheless.

Well like you were before, I am very much excited about the anime on Saturdays. It only feels right to come in here and give my opinion on what I thought of the excellent Saturday night anime. Didn't I already talk about this above?

Thanks, I much appreicate the heads up. 👍

oh man, that's crap... giving him rep for something I lead him to. ;) j/k

I'm bored with Naruto (curse the fillers.... only a few more weeks to go though, or so they say), finished Haruhi awhile ago, and am at the start of the Bleach fillers...

Guess I'll start in on that monster of a series they call One Piece. I've heard enough good about that one. Wish me luck.

I'm still faithfully waiting for ID stage 5.. I've watched all Inuyashas, initial D's ( even the live action movie ) my neighbour totoro, hanaukyo maids, ragnarok etc etc..

Adult Swim will finally have shown every episode of InuYasha here in the coming weeks. I cannot remember exactly when it is scheduled to happen, but it is coming soon. I can only hope I remember to watch that week to see how the series is wrapped up. After that, I can work on filling in all of the rest of the episodes I have missed.

So uhhh . . . I almost feel pretty bad about not giving updates about what is going on on Adult Swim at the moment, but I really don't. There have been a bunch of football games going on and when those have not been going on, I have been out drinking. I have really tried to figure out why I did not start this habit earlier; but that is neither here, nor there.

Anyways, more importantly about the anime. I missed Naruto for the last couple of weeks, along with Trinity Blood and Bleach. I am really starting to miss my anime fix and I have got to figure something out. I have caught Eureka Seven though, and I still thoroughly enjoy the series. It has been absolutely great and I still recommend it to anyone who wants to watch a very good anime series. Tonight's episode revealed something to me and that is both Renton and Eureka love each other . . . pretty deeply. It has taken them a while to learn this, but they have finally realized it and I see the series continuing on with that theme. That is Renton searching to get back with the Gekko State, so that he can be Eureka. I figure the series is going to continue this for a couple more episodes and the military is going to try and stop the Gekko at least more than once. It should be good action. I am really looking forward to the next couple of episode because they are 'Morning Glory' and 'Helter Skelter' . . . songs from my two favorite bands.

To wrap it up, watch Eureka Seven. It is good stuff. Also at the moment, Adult Swim is doing a very good job of showing multiple series.

Just watched Cowboy Bepop: The Movie the other night and I can definately say it was a great movie in-all. Entertaining storyline, constant suspense and had an interesting subject on how the world would see it's demise. (Nano-cells??)

Nevertheless, I'll be sure to see Eureka Seven. 👍

Cowboy Bebop The Movie is a good one. I have had it for a while now, but have only watched it once. I do not really remember much of the storyline, though I do remember bits and pieces, the biggest thing I remember is some of the really good action throughout the movie.

I watched the Cowboy Bebob movie a bunch of times... I liked it a lot...

Anyways, finally finished Samurai Shamploo and Wolf's Rain... Good stuff...
I would be the first one to admit that I was sure that they would kill every one in Shamploo though... Really tense moments at the end:sick: ...

Anyways finally finished Aim for the Top! 2 also... Pretty cool ending~ I liked it but it really only works for those who liked and finished the first series... The ending would mean nothing to those who didn't watch the first.

I felt much the same way during the end of Samurai Champloo. I was very much glad with the way it ended. There is one thing I would have liked to see different and really it is just nitpicking, but that is neither here nor there. Still very good stuff and one of my favorite series at the moment.

Been a while since i posted in here so i thought id give an update.

Well i got seriously hooked on Eureka Seven and finished the whole series in a little over five days which is nearly 10 eps a day :scared: Guess i should calm down a bit. However it is a very good anime and i know a few of you in here are still watching so will not spoil anything for you. For anybody who hasnt seen it though it comes highly reccomended, this anime has alot going for it. Great music, excellent animation and attention to detail also a pretty good plot which has a few twists.

Ive also just broken the 100 episode mark in two other animes im watching too - Naruto and Bleach. Naruto is well.......Naruto. Pretty funny stuff and easy watching, there isnt much in the way of storyline going on at the moment and i have heard that im coming up to a large patch of filler eps. Ill just see how it goes but it seems i might have to skip some episodes. Bleach is going from strength to strength again which is great news. There are lots of fights happeneing now and looks like were going to see some of the captains have some tough battles.

Recently a friend introduced me to a new anime. Its called the Boondocks. Now i must stress that this anime is very un-PC. Imagine a comedy sketch by Chris Rock translated into an anime and your getting there. I thinks its a very funny anime and suggest anybody who doesnt find things such as Chris Rock's stand up shows offencive to check it out.

Spec....

After hearing you guys talk about Cowboy Bebop i've decided to rewatch all the episodes i've got downloaded. I love Shinichirô Watanabe, he's got an amazing talent at criss-crossing time periods and genres with eachother. Nothing cooler than a jazz cowboy in the future. Are there any works he's done besides Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo (and the segments in the Animatrix)?
