I always thought Journeyman's chorus was awesome. It sticks to the head well.

"I know what I want
I'll say what I want
And no one can take it away"

You'll take my life but I'll take yours too
You'll fire your musket but I'll run you through

jcm
You'll take my life but I'll take yours too
You'll fire your musket but I'll run you through

BADA-DA-DAM!

So when you're waiting for the next attack

BADA-DA-DAM!

You'd better stand there's no turning back.

Du-du-dada...

The bugle sounds as the charge begins
But on this battlefield no one wins
The smell of acrid smoke and horses breath
As you plunge into a certain death

The horse he sweats with fear - we break to run
The mighty roar of the Russian guns
And as we race towards the human wall
The screams of pain as my comrades fall

We hurdle bodies that lay on the ground
And the Russians fire another round
We get so near yet so far away
We won't live to fight another day!

[insert epic guitar solo here]

We get so close near enough to fight
When a Russian gets me in his sights
He pulls the trigger and I feel the blow
A burst of rounds takes my horse below

And as I lay there gazing at the sky
My body's numb and my throat is dry
And as I lay forgotten and alone
Without a tear I draw my parting groan

Thanks to you guys I chose The Trooper as my alarm song this morning.

I did not regret it. Massive smile on my face as I repeatedly pressed snooze.

Again, Piece Of Mind is a fantastic album.

, my alarm is even better. The sweet sound of no alarm and then waking up at 11 AM. :sly:

No he doesn't. That's just lazy; I go to bed at 1am and wake up at 6:30am for work.

Well, I don't have to work, it's the Summer Holidays. In about 10 days I'll be getting at quarter to seven in the morning like normal. But wait, you only get 5 hours sleep? That's not lazy, but silly. Why do you stay up so late knowing that you have to go to work so early? :odd:

It's not through choice, I just don't fall asleep easy. Going to sleep at 1am is a) a forced attempt at going to sleep; and b) much earlier than I normally would because I have to get up. I stay up until 4, 5 or 6am if I've got days off.

I spend my days full of emptiness and my years full of loneliness by going through my Electric Light Orchestra, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai and Iron Maiden discographies. Keeps me going as I scour the internet for lulz while playing Football Manager.

Saints and Sinners,
Something willing us,
To be lord of the flies.

Days of lonliness?

^ Strange, I was thinking of doing that in my post but I couldn't be bothered typing it all out. Now the song is stuck in my head

You know what I just find generally amazing? That these guys are now in their 50s but remain as popular as ever, still producing new material and their old stuff, in some people's eyes the better stuff, has stood the test of time and are highly regarded as classics.

The fact that this band has transcended generations is simply outstanding.

You walk into my school and more than half of the kids there have at least 1 Maiden shirt, or Metallica shirt. EASY. Maiden is very popular in my area. I had a guy come up to me the other day and say how glad he was that younger generations were actually listening to good music and not that pop garbage.

There was an open day at work today and my room was a room dedicated to Britain and to a lesser extent, Wales because of my own nationality.

I decided to have some music playing constantly in the background and in addition to some Steve Vai and Joe Satriani I chose Running Free, Phantom Of The Opera (Dickinson vocals) and Chains Of Misery.

Playing Iron Maiden in a school was just ace.

I want to live in your town, Slash.

Exactly, the guys have said themselves, they'll go to a show somewhere, they'll see someone about 40 that they say twenty years ago as a 20 year old, and that it's amazing they've seen generations grown on their music.

Only if the metalheads here listened to Maiden. They just listen to Slayer, Pantera, etc. Sort of too heavy for me.

Over half? Damn, in my school only about 30-40 out 900 of people, if that. Seem to appreciate decent music made with real instruments. None of that wind-breaking Dubstep or Justin Bleeder crap. I really wish I lived in an area where people appreciated music.

Good on you, sir! I want to live there as well, let's rent an apartment. :sly:

Also, check this out..

Dickinson on vocals just blows my mind.

Kinda how I feel. Although I'm trying my best to broaden my musical, especially metallic, horizons.

When I was in school, (which compared to you guys seems like years and years ago!), there were around 1,100 pupils and of those around 40-50ish who liked 'metal', that horribly broad genre. I wasn't really one of those people at that time, mind.

To put it in perspective though, I will give you a direct quote from an English lesson, Year 11, 2006. It was me and a friend and she was saying what bands she listened to before this d!ck butted in;

Moron who I hate
You listen to Guns 'N' Roses? Goth!

Some people...

Although thankfully, there is a decent amount of people who listen to good music. And if you know the right pubs to go to when you visit the local cities, then it's even better. Pub, music, drinks, conversation; that is how things should be, younglings.

I do regularly go gigs at pubs, I love checking out bands that are yet to be discovered. And that 🤬 who butted in should be hung, drawn and quartered.

I have seen him wear Ugg boots. In public.

That is punishment and humiliation enough, whether he realises it now or not.

I know how great that video is, I have the DVD. :sly: Though to be honest I don't like the feel of the set list. Nor the flashiness of the stage and effects. I liked Dance of Death and Paschendale though.

Really? In my opinion, this is one of their best performances ever recorded live. Though Rock in Rio, Live After Death and Donington '92 are simply untouchable.
