And that's all this is. People's opinions being thrown around, and we can do this all day. Point is, we can't do anything about the sounds to make them better (I think they are fine) so why don't we just end the discussion?

👎
Really? Last I checked, much of GT5's features had been implemented because that's what KY was reading from the fans.

So, I would say that there is something we can do about it to a degree.

That last part was actually retorical, because some time ago I got warned to watch my words because "they are watching".
It's getting pretty ridiculous how every time we get a confirmation the sound still sucks there's someone to come out and say it's just an internet video and the full game will be muuuuuch better. No, really how do you know? They let prologue come out with the embarasing sound...A page or two back I gave an example of a low quality forza 3 video, but I guess you gotta be more than a fanboy to stay in the conversation.
I however agree the game is ready and all that we're left with is start moaning about the release date.

Sure. I mean, what's the point right now? The game is pretty much finished and it's way too late for them to change anything. Unless you don't care that the game get's hit with it's first delay?

I say we just leave it be. Let them finally release the damn game and enjoy it for what it is.

I hate to say it, but that's not how any forum works, at least none that I've been on ;)

When the game is not even out yet, all you'll get is speculation, and when info does come out, it gets dissected to the finest points with people unreasonably saying its awesome and others unreasonably saying its crap.

Personally I find it amusing, but there's no point telling people to stop bitching about things. ;)

You're right, but it is VERY annoying. So much so that I have decided to spend less time in the GT5 section of this site and have been paying more attention to the news page. The game just needs to come out. Soon. So we can all stop speculating and dissecting and just play the damn thing.

I think some people misunderstood what i said (or is it just my imagination?)

The sounds are fine, but there is a lot of room for improvement, just like many other aspects of the game. The fact is, if you want the best all round package in a racing game, GT5 will be a very good choice. The best current choice is Forza 3, a lot of the PC racing games are missing a lot of things.

I will be buying GT5, i couldn't care less if the sounds are like vacuum cleaners, or if the trees are just 2D bitmaps (or whatever they are) or if the damage is just bumps and scrapes. You know i'll bet the physics, compared to the likes of iRacing and rFactor are going to be rubbish and unrealistic just like GT4 and to some extent prologue (Though prologue and the TT demo did have a lot of good points, still many flaws). The graphics don't matter much to me either, if i had the choice i would turn down the graphics to up the number of cars for better racing. Come to think of it, i could list way more bad things about GT than i could good things, and i'm a GT fanboy, always have been.

What i get with GT is the best experience among any other driving/racing game, and thats what matters to me. For me no other games come close enough.

I just can't wait to play it. On my Sixaxis if necessary.

By your analogy, you should quit the forums then, because there is nothing you can do about any aspect of the game.

Judging by the fact that PD doesn't listen to us and puts whatever they want in the game, then yes. I still believe there is nothing we can do to change the game. So why bother arguing about it?

Because discussion and argument make life interesting. If everyone agreed, life would be very boring.
Not that people should go OTT defending and attacking opinions, but at the same time its not "pointless" to debate. Debating allows people to learn from other's points and hopefully it causes intelligent discussion of the more technical aspects of the game(s).

And I think there is evidence to the contrary that PD does listen to the fans.

If you find it annoying to read, then don't open the threads. If you don't want to get into an argument over it, don't post. Its as simple as that.

Might just have to do that. I see myself doing this:

than anything else lately.

That's bordering on irrational. Why bother joining discussion forums at all if that's how you feel? Just because somebody cannot affect something in a game does not mean they should refrain from expressing their opinions about it.

At the end of the day, it's Kaz's brain behind the game. It's his vision that he is creating, not yours or anybody elses. As such, of course they put whatever they want in the game. Having said that, I'm sure they read forums like these, and they will take away all kinds of things from the general media, but what they produce has to have a realistic end point. If they put everything into the game that everybody ever asked for, it would never get finished, and timescales are silly enough as they are.

Will you be just as annoyed when people have opinions on the game once it has released?

One word: Damage.

Wouldn't be in if it wasn't for communities like this always complaining about the lack of it.

I've said this before. We don't have the game, we haven't played it. We're judging it based on low quality internet videos. Who in their right mind would listen to people with no first hand experience and change things in their multi million dollar project?

Nope, cause I'll be busy playing the game and enjoying it for what it is. :dopey:👍
Good for you 👍

Right, but does the fact that we do not have the game mean people should not discuss it based on what they have been presented with?

Who in their right mind would listen to people with no first hand experience and change things in their multi million dollar project?
I don't follow... Are you saying that Kaz should not listen to people in forums? Ideas are ideas, they do not need first hand exprience. Sorry if I mis-understood.

Why should he listen to us when we don't know what we're talking about? After the game is released and we have experience and some solid evidence to back up any claims/complaints, yes, he will listen, most likely.

Well that all depends doesn't it? Ideas for new developments are one thing, opinions on existing (unfinished) developments are another. It doesn't take first-hand experience for somebody to make a suggestion about including something new.

I know I said that it is his vision and all that, but the fact remains that this is a commercial venture. So, while I hear what you are saying about not listening to peoples opinion, he would be wise to.

Sound is very hard to complain or be happy about. We could judge the sound on the GT5 TT, but that could or couldnt be a true reprsentation of the sound in GT5.

Not to get all audiophile here, but what is being recorded, how is it being recorded, and how is it being played back?

This thread is about sound. We are basing the sound of the game SOLELY on internet videos of a loud and crowded warehouse. Honestly, if you were in his shoes, would you even consider changing anything sound related based on that info?

In that specific context, no, I wouldn't, nor would I go around saying that people should not discuss sound in a forum just because we cannot change it as per R1600Turbo's posts.

WHat? I'm not saying that. Stop putting words in my mouth. What I said and what R1600 has said is that at this time thinking that what you're saying matters to anyone at PD, is ridiculous.

If anything we said, asked for, complained about didn't matter...damage wouldn't have been introduced to the series, nor would the original model itself have been improved.

lol, thanks for not reading most of the things that you're blindly replying to.
As for damage, honestly, after 5 races 95% of people will disable it. KY was right about not wanting it in.

What is there to misunderstand?

Doesn't matter whether or not damage was implemented prior to you saying that, it was implemented (mostly) because we asked for it. The damage model was improved after the Gamescon demonstration (?) because a lot of "us" didn't like where it was going. So, to re-iterate, if none of what we said mattered or if they didn't read it in the very slightest that would have happened.

Again, thanks for arguing about something that is being argued.

No one said they don't listen. What I said is that they would be stupid to listen to us now and should wait after the game comes out seeing as its both too late to change anything and it's stupid of them to change anything based on our accounts of watching crap quality internet videos.

People actually believe that was is said on forums is taken on consideration by developers? Come on... damage was never implemented because of forum posters. Damage is something that nearly everyone wants included in the game. That's why it's there now.
