Someone had a brain-barf. I'm still waiting to hear on the GTS news as well. It's just a bit annoying that they've ducked under the table, metaphorically speaking.
Or it's more likely that English is not his/her first language.

It doesn't seem all that confusing really. He/she's waiting to get a G29, that's waiting for a PS4 Pro, which in turn is waiting for the game to actually be released. Although, the "soon" part might be a bit out there.

Or more realistically, waiting for the G29 to come in, then the PS4 pro to release. Then the game.

uh... what?
True story: I ordered a G29 with black friday sales should arrive in a couple of days and I'm waiting GT Sport to hit the stores in order to buy a PS4 Pro.

Yep. Everything is waiting for something :) and the "Soon" part is obviously PDI sarcasm. :)

Yeah, that's what it is, maybe I tried too hard to make it sound like a joke.

As a long time GT fan, I'm really disappointed by what I'm seeing in GTS.
This was the only game that could have enticed me to buy a PS4, but from what I'm seeing and reading it's not worth it.
My main gripes are:

- Only 15 locations
- Watered down career mode
- Poor feedback on physics
- Lots of fantasy cars
- Loss of dynamic weather and time of day
- No more car collecting or driving of all sorts of models

I was hoping that PD would up their game after the long wait and delivery of GT5, but alas, no luck.

It is only the GT Sports beta version and not the full game.

Look, I can live without the car collecting. After all, my favorite game in the series is GT3 and that game only has 150+ cars. But this trailer still rubbed me the wrong way:

I've heard people call GT a "car encyclopedia" all the time in the past. Saying that a huge car count isn't something that people loved about GT is straight up denial and this trailer is basically telling those people to 🤬 off. PD is isolating a big part of their fanbase. And apparently, "wanting sport" means kicking the career mode out the door too. :dunce:

If I learned anything from GT5/6 is to wait 2 years to grab it for $20 from the bargain bin for twice the content and half the glitchds... but then again depending on the offline content that might no longer be an option.

I've always considered sport to be like prologue. I never anticipated a ton of content or a full fledged GT. Has PD talked about a GT7 yet? That's where I would expect to see all the heavy car counts to be. This seems to be more about e-sports and just finally getting something on the PS4

According to PD this isn't a prologue and there isn't going to be a GT7.

Not on the PS4. But i'm sure GT7 should be ready when the PS5 Pro comes out :)
Implication is the next game will be GTS2 I believe, Gran Turismo Sport is supposed to be a reboot for the series I think.

...Well, that will be only until GT:S, for some crazy reason, doesn't hit Sony's and PDI's internal sales targets. If so, then it's bye-bye GT:S-2,and hello GT7....

All my assumptions, of course. They could conceivably persevere with the new "Sport" theme till the proverbial kingdom come....

All the things going on with PD and GT.. I'm just sitting here thinking, please add full FOV settings and dash cam (or ability to turn off hands and wheel).

So much time spent to miss a couple minor yet so important features...

6 hrs 30mins left..

Very good points and a direct honest statement at the end there. Which I agree with.

MrWaflz55: It's not finished yet, save your expectations for the final release. That is all.
i think a fair amount of folks will not care. pd has lost its way

I agree, PD has lost a great deal of touch with the general audience. At the end of the day (as I've said above) GT SPort and all others are a game at the end of the day and what's going to matter is whether people enjoy it or not. If they do, they'll (we) will play it and recommend it to others. If it is not enjoyed it will be placed aside, forgotten and bagged out!

I loved all the cars!! Who wouldn't want over 1200 cars to drive?! Granted half of them were Miatas or Civics but you could never get bored with the insanely large car and track counts. Now it's down to like over 170 and Forza 7 will reportedly contain around 700. With better graphics, customization, damage, and sound and larger car and track counts I'm more tempted to buy Forza now

It doesn't help that the script is terrible and the delivery is awful... but overall it's like a return to the Forza days of "so much less is so much more!" that simply insults the listener's intelligence.

I mentioned last week how this trailer irked me. I felt like they were trying to brainwash viewers into thinking that GT of the past isn't what they really want, they want less of everything after waiting years. Insulting to say the least.

Not only that. Forza 7 will now reward you for having lots of cars collected in your garage for career mode, where you could drive any car you want. I've also heard FM7 for the first will feature a 'track day' option for online like GT5/6's free run.

It's a shame what PD has taken the franchise at. I mean nobody asked for an esports title, but instead most wanted the several issues to be solved from their last two games as well as oldest ones. But no, gotta reboot the series because why not?...

Still I see nothing that interests me to get GTS other than the rally mode (though I wonder if they've fixed the physics on that?)

They're marketing the game as more of a racing game with actual competition rather than a car collecting game which was actually GT's biggest criticism. Not sure how you deducted all that from that trailer.

As for people complaining about the "direction" of GTS, this title is arguably the biggest evolution I've seen in the series. They've re-worked almost everything and have addressed a lot of the complaints. Also funnily enough, GTS (the first title on the PS4) will have roughly the same amount of cars that GT3 did and roughly the same amount of premium cars in GT5.

I don't recall one of GT's main complaints beings that it was a car collecting game. If theres anything to go by, it seems to be what people miss the most.

If you don't count the standard cars, and the 177 number is to be believed, then this game has roughly the same amount of cars as GT1,GT3,GT5P,GT5.

A few things:
  • Going by GT Sport's counting style, GT1 actually had well over 300 cars.
  • GT3 did have a similar number, but appeared about a year into the console's life, not four.
  • GT5 launched with something like 35% more Premiums than GT Sport's total car count, and — barring some Super GT and NASCAR models — offered more variety. There's also the whole issue of those Premiums being referred to as more appropriate for the next-generation... only for them to be dropped, it seems. :(
While it hasn't been outright confirmed, it appears the car count includes things like the road-going Alfa 4C and Gr.4 versions as separate models. That's fine — there's a reasonable amount of difference between them — but it does mean there will be much less variety in terms of that headline number than what might've been the case in previous GTs.

As @ImaRobot said, I'm not sure the car collecting aspect of GT has ever been the main criticism levelled at the game. Did some folks want a stronger focus on the racing side of things, with rules and flags? Yeah. But I don't recall many saying they wanted that instead of the traditional approach.

I'm not saying either way is right or wrong. I just know that GT is largely responsible for my tastes in racing games, and so I've become accustomed to the car encyclopedia approach.
