One thing that's odd is that the customization is mentioned as a separate point:

So it should be something beyond simply aero and wheels, right? (And paint, hopefully...)

That's what I was thinking about too. If they just mentioned in one bullet point that you'll be able to personalize your cars then that would make the whole situation seem more ambiguous. The fact that they have a separate point for the customization gives me some hope.

We have already seen the '' extra custom parts '' or the '' personalisation'' on the presentation...

More wings and More wheels. Thats all folks :)

Ooooh no you won't! We still have E3, Gamescom and TGS to find out if threres more first, saids Kaz. ;)

Why would they advertise a new feature that is same as the old?

Edit:I'm still hopping the Missing Blue Racing Mini from GT5 is indicative of a possible inclusion of a livery editor.

Sorry, but what is the "Missing Blue Racing Mini"?

before GT5 was released (seems like ages ago)we got alot of screenshots one of which featured a blue Mini with a livery(looks kind of like the WRC Mini livery )but this car never made it into GT5.

here it is.

After watching the video where Kaz talks about the game. They never got into the personalization bit. They skipped it. Sounds to me that we will get a lot of new options, but livery editor.. Hmm. Would be great, I'm all for it. But I don't know.. Hmm

From the news page:

J: Is there going to be more car customization options? Are you going to be able to swap the engine or put decals on the car?

Kaz:
Both are technically possible, and we might be preparing it (laughs).

Won't believe him!

The recent reveal was to announce the games "core" features and there was no specific mention of a livery editor.

With Forza on the other hand, the livery editor is a core feature so i think if we are to see one in GT6 it will be limited and lack the functionality of the one seen in Forza.
I hope we get something but i'm not getting my hopes up.

The livery editor on Forza is very perfect !

=> https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=275894

I really would like to have the same on GT6...
Not perfect at all unless one can load files/livery made with proper tools on a PC. If the developer's aim was to limit creativity, then on Forza it failed as people determined enough or with enough time to waste can still, with the "predefined shapes only" method, make what they want.

So if the potential for obscene liveries (if this is the problem) is still there, it wouldn't make much sense, if it were to be implemented in GT6, to limit livery creation to in-game screens.

I think that a livery editor MUST BE IN GT6. Please, stop joking PD, this is something you have to do... If it's complicated to create, it doesnt matter.. you have sold over 70 millions copies of GT, so..

Whats wrong with you, PD??? We only want to personalize our cars!!!!! We want to paint in them whatever we want to!!

PS: Sorry for my excess of emotion LOL :D

I can't say I care for an editor. Just having different skins you can paste on your car would be good enough for me. I just want racing cars to not be identical with one another and have tuned cars that look a little more "racy" to fit into racing series.

But.. don't you think create liveries for your cars would be very good? Instead of adding parts that will help your car to look more "racy"

I'm not reallycreative. I'd rather just have some generic ones ready I can just add.

There wouldnt be much ceativity left, when there would be an import feature for files from pc. And many childs would import their porn.jpeg-file, stick it on their fully tuned veyron and show it around in public lobbies. Where is the creativity, when someone imports a picture from google-search to their car, instead of working on their own for some hours and learn something by it?

And the designing of liveries in photoshop on the pc is also nothing that would be acceptable for the masses. It is also not possible to change colours and placement of decals on the car while creating. You would have to import the livery all the time. That doesnt make any sense and is no useful solution for a console game.

The livery editor as it is now in Forza, is actually nearly perfect. It creates creativity, it is easy to use and is very social. If you need logos or a very well k own livery, you will easily find it in the auction house. You can work on a livery with friends and exchange assets with friends.

I don't know why, but I feel like that "nismo" sticker on the yellow 370Z from a GT6 video is made by a livery editor.
