There's already several threads on this.

This thread is relevant to new information, and will discuss nothing but facts and opinions about what the new information could mean. See below.

It's purposefully ambiguous. It could mean anything.

That's the point in creating the thread, decoding the mystery by confusing ourselves!  But, before you get carried away, try to keep it to "I think" and not "you're wrong for what you think."

I like to have the track day look for my cars quick vinyl paste add some color and off we go.

This would be intriguing, though the "track day" look is slightly different from numbers. Most track day cars don't need numbers.

Cars that compete in championships need numbers, for timing and scoring purposes. My number, for example, in karting and autocross, is #51. But, at track days, my car doesn't need numbers.

Edit: I'd actually like to see the ability to change the name of the car;

"Mazda MX-5" could become "Mazda MX-5 Cup Car #51" for example. I'd be quite happy.

I hope its not just per-determined stickers or decals.

Hoping for a full editor or a downloadable template for us to edit and upload.. but i think that's just wishful thinking on my part. I can imagine myself doing up a load of liveries if templates could be downloaded though.

Well my point remains, it's too ambiguous to decode. It could mean a lot of things but it would just be guessing.

Sooo. Aerodynamic parts huh? ;)

To create something like this? YES PLEASE! :D

That would be a giant PITA for people who don't use photoshop. I was once in that boat, I know the feeling. The full editor is a good idea, though. Even if there were like 50 "pre-determined stickers or decals" I'd be perfectly fine with that. It'd be especially awesome if we could change the colour of all of these decals.

Exactly. We'll keep guessing, and we'll keep speculating, and we'll enjoy it.

Oh gosh yes! :sly:

And, if we could rename it, and "sign off on our work" like Chip Foose and Mine's... 💡

Now that will be awesome. :D Maybe these type of parts can be available for only cars that can race off road. Idea from TXRD2. 👍

Just a thought. :P

Slightly off-topic, but... extremely on-topic, in a way.

Being as I'm considering, in real life, a purchase of mud flaps for my Impreza, I'd definitely like to see mud flaps put in GT6. :)

Do any of you guys remember the game SuperCar: Street Challenge? You could make your own car on there as well by adjusting sliders to different levels of hood width/type as well as wings, etc.

I wonder if that's what he means by "your very own personalized cars."

Question still remains:

What do you (yes, and you, too) think the latest updates in the story of "very own personalized car" refers to?

Does this mean you'll be taking automotive design courses, and mixing parts together?

Does this mean you'll have a chance to receive a dedicated number for a championship?

Does this mean that your designs and creations can be named aptly?

What are your thoughts?

(I might make a poll for this.)

Or, suddenly, you can design better cars than LADA in five minutes. :D

So because you wouldn't like it, it shouldn't be in the game? Have you seen real race cars lately? Even at grass roots level liveries are used, it's an important part of car customisation.

I didn't say shouldn't, I said I wouldn't want it to be in the game. Selfish, I know. You're right, it should be in the game, i just hope it isn't for my own reasons.

It would be, but for those that do use photoshop, the possibilities are almost limitless. Those who don't use could still use the in-game editor.

This could be a nice option.

I think you'll find it's easier than you think. Or, if all else fails, ask someone else to figure it out for you.

I hope that this they mentioned would be as the Forza 4 Livery Editor... don't you?

Not entirely. It's a difficult system for beginners, and a perverse system for those who teach themselves how to use it. I found, more often, cars covered in pornography, bad jokes, and movie scenes, than I did cars with numbers and sponsors.

I envisage an "Aero chip" system.

:ouch: Please no, please tell me you're kidding.

Well.. I think a livery editor would be great exactly for that reason MrMelancholy15. You would be absolutely free to create whatever you want...For example, if you want to take a Lancia Delta and paint it as the Martini Racing livery, or take it to paint it for a championship you're racing with your "own" livery, you would be able to do it..

Meanwhile if they have created a little editor, only with some shapes, numbers and that, I would be very dissapointed, just seeing that Forza have had a livery editor since Forza 3..

One thing that's odd is that the customization is mentioned as a separate point:

  • Multiple aerodynamic parts and custom wheels will be available for almost all cars.
  • Players can create their own personalised custom car in the game.

So it should be something beyond simply aero and wheels, right? (And paint, hopefully...)

You guys.. do you reckon there's a possibility that PD might just give us the option to change engines and the drivetrain?

It goes well with the "personal customization" part.. Imagine.. an FR Civic '96 with a rotary engine! :D

Forza has had a livery editor forever; I'm the somewhat proud owner of every Forza ever made, excluding Forza Horizon.

Hopefully indeed, this is the point behind this thread; what are they not telling us? What are they hiding in plain sight?

That would be very personal, but, I can't be sure as to whether the motor mounts would match up or not. Small problem, yes, but, I doubt PD would be that in-depth. FF -> FR conversions aren't very common, either, since most FF cars extend the floor pan well below the normal confines of the area above the spot where the transmission normally would be, in an FR or 4WD car. This is just one more thing to consider.

So, while I remain doubtful, given Polyphony Digital's hesitance towards exchanging real world physics for a bit of added fun, I can agree that it could be cool. I just doubt it.

I came to another realization.. wouldn't this breach the agreement between PD & car manufacturer's..? I mean if we aren't even allowed to paint stock rims.. engine exchanges between different brands must be completely intolerable! though they could implement engine changes within the same brand.

This is what Forza does.

However, there are few engine changes worth the hassle in video games. Power is plentiful in games. I have FF cars running 400+ hp in my garage. There's no need for that much power, unless your B-Spec drivers just entirely lack all sorts of talent and need a bit of "help."

Hehe reminds me of the "auto-sculpting" feature in some of the older NFS games like Carbon and ProStreet. If you fiddled around with the sliders enough you could make some very odd looking cars (wheels protruding way out from the car, smiley face front bumper).

Speaking about personalized cars...

They should also bring back the Racing Modifications, or at least let us costumize it part by part.
They had it in GT5 but it was only for a few cars... :indiff:

Of course, they could add different Racing Modifications, like 2 or 3 for each car. Though maybe that would be a little too much...

Speaking about the personalizable parts, what I really liked about the wheels in GT4, was that you could pick the used rims from other cars. It was... Used Rims I guess?

Here, I found a picture:

gt4wheels114cz3.jpg

Thought it was kinda funny to see a Honda with Fiat rims for instance, sometimes it was also cool to pick rims of the same make as your car. It felt like the actual showrooms where there are various wheels you can pick for your car as base.
I also feel like GT5 had less custom wheels than GT4 and even GT2 had... :irked:

Not really fussed about what my car looks like.
I just want to be able to drive my real life car on GT in the same colour.

If I did have a livery editor I'd probably have a picture of translator san on the hood.
