I like most of the cover versions that Metallica have done over the years (even the less likely ones like "Turn the Page" and "Loverman") but my #1 cover version has to be System of a Down's version of "Snowblind" on Nativity in Black II - A Tribute to Black Sabbath (now that's a powerful song) and I much prefer it to the original Sabbath version.

I have Nativity in Black I, very cool covers. I´ll try to get this one too.

Snowblind is also on the Scorpion King Soundtrack. Very awesome song.

speaking of SOAD, anyone heard from them recently?

Nope, not that I really look out for them at all. Although I haven't really been keeping up on Music lately. Been a busy man.

are all your posts about SJR? what are some of your other favorite bands?

Well, according to him, there doesn't seem to be any other bands close to SuperJoint Ritual. They "are the ultimate underground keep it real etc etc" band.

Well, they have a few good songs. I'm not going to go into detail about them, the discussion is old.

Agreed... I enjoy maybe 2 or 3 of their songs... Plus, the fact that every song is 3 minutes or less, takes away from it IMHO... It feels like the song is just getting good, and then it's over...

HATECORE: You need to open your mind to some different music... Just a suggestion...

;)

Do you actually think any other bands are at least decent, though? Or are you just one-sided?

Even Phil likes other bands. Including one which would be a breach of the "dodging-profanity-censor" rule if I posted it.

I do. They get frustrating for some reason. They seem to go off-beat a lot, but not intentionally. They just aren't very good at all. They have a couple of good songs, but that's about it.

Yeah, I've been getting a lot of music from a while back, or just music that noone else here would probably like. But more or less, there's not much happening in the music world.

I've been doing the same thing. Not necessarily a bad thing listening to old albums, but new stuff is good too 👍.

excuse me for popping in late, but -

you are aware that Phil Anselmo isn't a Texan, and is actually from New Orleans, I assume?

Phil Anselmo... Ah!

My post may be irrelevant to the topic on hand, but talking about him reminded me of the now-defunct "Tapeworm Project", between himself, Trent Reznor and Maynard James Keenan.

I still wish they'd restart that, "Vacant" (covered by APC, later to be called "Passive" in the new eMOTIVe album) was a very nice song, and I would love to hear the finished product. :(

I would assume so, as he seems to have an obsession.

It's not irrelevant, as it's the Metal Thread. Anyway, I heard of that side-project, but I didn't hear anything from it. Sounds like it could be something to check out, thanks for that Stinky Chicken. 👍

I have been listening to a bit of Cradle Of Filth, Him, And Fear Factory recently. anyone else like these bands?

Fear Factory 👍 👍 👍

Cradle of Filth 👎 👎 👎 👎 👎 (I could keep going, but you get the idea)

Then again, I'm not a big black metal fan...

I've been getting into All That Remains lately... Fantastic guitarist...

;)

Don't know about 'em.

Have I been listening to Fear Factory?

It's all I've been really listening to for the past week and a half.

Don't like Cradle of Filth, never have. Not even before they became known. HIM is intended as a joke, but it's funny. I don't like it as music, but it makes me laugh. Love Metal is a funny concept.

Been listening to Fear Factory's new album, Killswitch Engage's new album and some Pantera mostly.

Archetype (Fear Factory's new album) is pretty boring for them. I didn't enjoy it at all. Obsolete is definately their best. Demanufacture is pretty good, but it gets very strange for Fear Factory in the last few songs. Very soft, slow songs. It's weird.
