My copy isn't like that. Dave's is the most prominent but you can hear everything. The Rude Awakening dvd was the same. My Machine Head Elegies dvd has non-existent lead guitar.

I'll try playing it through something else then 👍

Alright kids, new Scar Symmetry album is out. It's called Holographic Universe... anyone given it a listen yet?

I have to report that the new Scar Symmetry album is very good. It's a bit different than the previous ones, but very much the same at the uh... same time.

Its not the original line up. Its the line up from 1990 onwards. Still cool though. I'm a huge fan of the Priest. What did you think of the new album?

If your a fan of Rob Halford also, check out the link I posted on the previous page to the Fight stream.

Death Magnetic track listing has been made public:

1. That Was Just Your Life
2. The End of the Line
3. Broken, Beat & Scarred
4. The Day That Never Comes
5. All Nightmare Long
6. Cyanide
7. The Unforgiven III
8. The Judas Kiss
9. Suicide & Redemption
10. My Apocalypse

Yeah, I'm super-pumped over this, especially The Unforgiven III, as its predecessors are some of my favourite Metallica songs. All Nightmare Long, Cyanide and The Judas Kiss all sound like pretty good titles, too.

Roll on September.

Excuse me for ruining this thread.....

Okay, I don't really know a whole lot about metal or anything and as many has know, I'm not really into your average metal songs. I just want to ask this, can you guys recommend any good death metal bands out there? I couldn't care if they are American death metal, satanic death metal or any of that crap, if they sound really good I'll buy their albums or download them somewhere...... ;)

Anyways, the current Metal bands that I have on my iPod as of now is:
  • Metallica
  • Death
  • Divine Heresy 👍
  • Lamb of God 👍
  • All Shall Perish
  • As Blood Runs Black
  • Chimaira
  • Cryptosy 👍
  • DragonForce 👍 (yeah, their new album is coming out this August :D)
  • Fear Factory
  • The Black Dahlia Murder
  • Within Temptation
  • and probably more.....

*👍 indicates the bands I listened to most.....

Personally I think you should try Children of Bodom because they are just that awesome and there new album Blood Drunk is even more awesome. But my personally favorite is Hate Crew Deathroll, but they have lots of albums with some different sounds.

Some other bands you might like are... Soulfly, A Perfect Murder, Amon Amarth, Exodus (YEAH! Represent local bands!), Devildriver. And since you like Lamb of God I recommend Diecast.

But there are some not so heavy metal bands like Mudvayne, American Head Charge, Trivium, Skyfire, Soilwork, Five Finger Death Punch, Hellyeah and more... Try a few of those, there all on my playlist :D

If you want death metal I'd definately have to suggest Cannibal Corpse and Meshuggah (Though I'm not too sure if Meshuggah is considered death metal. It sure is hard enough)

Well thanks, I have heard of Children of Bodom before, but only one song (which was the Britney Spears cover, Oops I Did It Again ) and some of my friend have said they are worth a listen to. Oh, and I already have Trivium (which was good) and have listened to Soilwork before, but yeah keep those suggestions coming.... 👍

Uh...... well I'll give Cannibal Corpse and Meshuggah a try but I don't know if I'm going to like it or not..... :indiff:

Anyways, maybe I'm trying too hard to find a sound which is really really dark or haven't specify much about a certain death metal genre (yeah, I'm quite aware there is even a sub genre to death metal) Maybe I'm looking for Scandinavian/European death metal bands such as Hate of Poland or Arch Enemy. But its really hard to explain how they sound or the style of the melody, etc.

It seems only LdS know what kind of bands I would like to listen to, as he did introduce to me Fear Factory and Divine Heresy. :p

Cannibal Corpse - Death walking terror (one of my favorite songs by them)

Meshuggah - Bleed

Just to save you the trouble. Cannibal Corpse isn't exactly everyone's favorite band, and some people (like Diego I think) only like the older Cannibal Corpse. I myself would suggest the albums kill, gallery of suicide, and gore obsessed.

I only listen to a few death metal bands from time to time so I'm not exactly well versed in what to suggest to you. I'm sure people in this thread will have plenty of better suggestions for you.

Yeah! Good choice, my favorite band. :D

Soilwork
In Flames
Katatonia (actually doom metal but they kick enough ass to warrent me listing them)
Scar Symmetry
Opeth (to make Diego happy)
Meshugga
Arsis (excellent band from America)
Zonaria (****ing excellent...especially when the oldest person in the band is like 21)
Disarmonia Mundi
Passenger
Mnemic
The Project Hate MCMXCIX
Threat Signal (not death metal but excellent nevertheless)

That should get you started. Not all of those are straight up death metal. Some are melodic, some aren't really death metal at all. They are all excellent though and I recommend a listen to all of them. 👍

BTW, Children of Bodom is not death metal, and neither is Five Finger Death Punch. CoB is a power metal/death metal mix if anything, and FFDP is more thrash than anything. Not to nitpick though because both bands rock. :D

Diablo about Bleed: The first time I heard that song I almost had to change my pants it's one of the best songs I've heard in a looooooooong time.

Definitely, Bleed is a great song.

Thanks for suggesting Arsis CDailey. I decided to chem them out on youtube and they are great 👍

Indeed. In fact, they cut the song about 3 minutes short and play it differently live because the song is so difficult.

Not a problem. 👍

Please tell me you've got some Pantera. They are one of the pioneers of the sound of a few of the bands you listed.

Death are awesome. Glad you've got them. I'm not into death metal that much but I could throw a few names forward.

Obituary, Carcass, Sepultura and some later Overkill has that heavier sound you seem to like.

I don't think people are doing you a favour by listing death metal bands. The list of bands you listen to now are far from death, and I doubt you're going to like death when you listen to a lot of -core bands.

Arch Enemy are a melodic death metal (melodeath) band. I think that's more what you're after. Despite the name, it's really nothing like death metal at all.

Try these for now:
  • At The Gates
  • In Flames*
  • Dark Tranquillity
  • The Absence
  • Insomnium
  • Enforsaken
*First 4 albums in particular. Don't even bother with their newest album.

Ehh. Im not much for "metal". I like a lot more hardcore, or as it were, metalcore/deathcore or whatever. Bands like As Blood Runs Black, Emmure, For Today, August Burns Red, Parkway Drive, etc.

I'd also suggest Krueger, though they only recorded six songs to my knowledge, and i'm sure you wont find their cd anywhere but one place ;)

Problem is that with today's genres, it's hard to set a band in a fixed style. Sepultura is defintely not death... more like thrash, me thinks. Although it wasbands like Sepultura who helped forge the mainstreaming of other types of metal (other than Heavy) into the market.

I used to listen to scores of death metal and other 'horrible' styles, but as I've gotten older I guess I look for more instrumentalism rather than just massive bashing. I used to listen to some strange things, like Impaled Nazarene, Brujeria, Napalm Death, Baphomet, and so many obscure bands no one has ever heard of. When the band I was in released a CD, we started giving it away at other concerts and there was sort of a "syndicate" of indie bands around the world, and we sent each other cassette tapes and CDs. These were bands that made Deicide sound like Spice Girls and Chris Barnes sound like a choir boy.

Nowadays I listen to more Opeth and Scar Symmetry (just to name a few) because of their musical capabilities, different styles and overall Prog fusion, and to be honest whenever I'm focusing on pure death/grind/doom metal, I usually name only the older bands I grew up with: Napalm Death, Deicide, Sacred Reich [more like power metal, though], Fear Factory, Pantera, Death, Master, and more.

Yeah I class Sepultura as thrash metal but they're really extreme thrash. I also class Death as extreme thrash.

I havn't really gotten into Death metal. I love my thrash and straight up heavy metal. I was brought up on Deep Purple and Judas Priest and the like and expanded myself from there.

A thread on another forum site was: 5 albums a metalhead has to own.

Mine were:

Metallica - Ride The Lightning
Slayer - Reign In Blood
Judas Priest - Painkiller
Pantera - Vulgar Display Of Power
Ministry - Psalm 69

There are of course many others a metal head should own but it said 5 and it was a tough choice. I think this is the sort of thing that would probably help more.

Usually don't care much for deathcore, but Despised Icon is pretty cool. z0mg drums! Check out the title track from their album Ills of Modern Man.

Textures is an interesting band too.
