Mudvayne are nothing spectacular at all. I don't like them one bit. As for KillSwitch Engage, well, I hate the whole "Emo Metal" genre. Genres like this ruin the whole Metal genre in my opinion. It just commercialises it way too much for my liking, and I'm sure a lot of Metal fans would agree.

I also have to agree 100% on Felipe's opinion above. Chaos A.D. is their best work, followed by arise.

Fear Factory is also a good one although I haven't been able to listen to their older stuff.

I am a big fan of Fear Factory. Best album is Obsolete, followed by Demanufacture. You only need these two albums to convince you on how great this band is. Archetype was quite disappointing last year, though.

I've also stocked up on some more albums. I'm nearing the 500 mark I think. My friend counted his the other day, and he has a whopping 4000 odd! Now that's amazing.

I wouldn´t count on that buddy. I don´t think that Max and Igor are ever going to get along again, a sad end for two very tallented brothers.

Don´t you think you miss some good works because of that? I mean, you must get a lot of albuns at once, do you have the time to really listen to all of them?

I know I wouldn´t, and sometimes when you listen to an album for the first time you don´t like it, but then you get to listen to it again and again, and you start to enjoy it. As you can really like some band on the first time you listen to their stuff, but in a couple of months you´re sick of them. Well, it happens to me sometimes.:dopey:

I didn´t like it, but some people did. I think they mixed Brazilian rithms because it was different and it would sell. I don´t know, it sounds too comercial for me.

On the other hand, a band that also mixes our music culture with metal is Angra, and they do this since the beggining of the band. I really like it.

I only have Holy Land, though.

They're on a much higher level than Sepultura, imo. It's not down to the kind of music, they're just much more professionals. 👍

Holy Land, that´s one of their first albums.👍

It´s not the same band now. As Sepultura, Angra broked up a few years ago, and the only original members left are the guitar players, Kiko Loureiro and Rafael Bittencourt. The members who lefted formed Shaman, wich is also a great band although it´s a different style than Angra´s. I think it is the only metal band I know that has only one guitar player, and that guy does his job alright!

But back to Angra, I recommend their latest album, "Temple of Shadows". It´s one of my favorite albums of 2004. By the way, since the "new" Angra started, all their album´s covers were made by a Portuguese artist named Isabel de Amorim. Beautiful album covers I must say.

I don't know who "The Nuge" are, but I know that Ozzy Osbourne and Motorhead are classed as Hard Rock.

Weren't Motörhead part of the "New Wave of English Heavy Metal" (Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, and all those other English metal bands the popped up around the late 70s/early 80s)?
 
Possibly, but I always thought of them as a solid Rock band. But I see the possibility as Iron Maiden aren't exactly heavy, and sound nothing like a Metal band, but the 80's changed a lot of things...

I think they're an underground Australian band. Good luck finding anything by them. 👍
 
Their album is out in HMV in Australia. My guess is they are going to be similar to The Berzerker, who are another Aussie band. Berzerker were quiet for a while, but then they started to tour internationally and they exploded. They're now a large band on the Metal scene.

I'm thinking Devolved will start to go big as they tour more internationally. Keep an eye out in the next 2 or 3 months.

I've never heard of Isabel de Amorim before. And looks like she doesn't even live in Portugal. But she can only be good. ;)

Off the top of my head I can think of Symphony X (it's just Michael Romeo), which I'm sure you know.

I'm comparing them to today's standards of what sounds like Metal, and sometimes it can be difficult to to distinguish between Heavy Metal and Rock back then.

Oh, okay. Again, I haven't heard anything from him, but from a little Google research, it seems he's definately a rocker.
 
Recently I have been digging this Autopsy album I got (Severed Survial). I must say this album had a huge impact on my guitar playing and I love listening to it over and over. Been digging Demolition Hammer and Razor lately also. (I don't want to make this a "ah, look at me, I came back" kind of reply, but I am going to say I am going to try to be more mature on these forums. I looked at some of my posts from a while ago and was amazed at my lack of grammatical skill and post topics. Sorry for those.)
 
That's no problem. I like Autopsy, although I don't have that album. I have Dead As censored, and I was planning on getting a couple more.

Lately, I've really started to like Impaled Nazarene. Quite a talented band. I'm really getting into Melodic Death Metal a lot.

I thought you hated soft singing (in metal at least), or does "melodic" mean something else in the land of death metal?
 
Melodic Death Metal. It's a different thing. It's Death Metal, but instead of just the whole "chugga-chugga" sound with the guitars, they play melodically. A lot of it is very talented.
 
Ok but once when I talked about Melodic Metal you said you didn´t think it was a genre of Metal. How come there´s Melodic Death Metal now?
 
Melodic Death Metal, and the "Melodic Metal" you're referring to, are two very different things. The "Melodic Metal" that you were talking about, consists of bands like Dream Theater, but this genre is known as Progressive Metal. Melodic Death Metal is a branch of Death Metal, which I explained in my previous post.
 
I was actually reffering to bands such as Angra, Shaman, Stratovarius, Helloween, Edguy, etc. Which are not Prog Metal bands, but I guess you can say they´re Power Metal bands. But here they´re known as Melodic Metal.
 
They're commonly (I mean world-wide) known as Power Metal, though. Melodic Metal is just an alternative, unofficial term. I don't usually like much from that genre, but a lot of those bands are pretty talented.
