The Muse ThreadMusic

Just saw, and heard, something epic. They have made a video for Butterflies & Hurricanes, but with a new version of the song (still with the epic piano piece) Enjoy

Muse- Butterflies and Hurricanes (video)

That's been around for awhile now (since it's single release IIRC) and is essentially based of the live variants of the song (particularly Glastonbury 2004). 👍

But still, it's a excellent video!

Been getting more into this band lately, I always loved a lot of their songs but now I have all the albums, Exogenesis part 3 is absolutely astonishingly good.

Their 6th album has been announced officially, called The 2nd Law and is due to be released September 2012.
Tour dates have also been released, these are the UK dates:
24/10/2012 SECC, Glasgow, UK
26/10/2012 O2 Arena, London, UK
27/10/2012 O2 Arena, London, UK
30/10/2012 LG Arena, Birmingham, UK
01/11/2012 MEN Arena, Manchester, UK
General tickets are on sale at £55 for http://muse.mu/ members only till 10th of July, after that I guess they go on sale to the general public. I'm thinking about buying some but I may wait for the VIP tickets.

Judging by the music in the trailer the fans of their early work may be dissapointed. Personally I think it sounds pretty good and I literally cannot wait for the release!! :D

About time this thread bumped up. I received a sms from my wife today telling me of this. Saw the trailer, it's pretty cool. I'll keep an eye for leaks lol

Me want Manchester tickets.

I saw them at Manchester Cricket ground in 2010; standing in the middle of 50,000 people outdoors at night with Muse blaring out was just insane.

Indeed is insane, I was at first line in Mexico and it was the best concert I've ever been to.

The closest I've come to seeing Muse live is watching them on the Tele while they performed at glasto/reading.
I am determined to see them this time though, even if it does look like I'm going to have to go by myself.

Seen them at the o2 and both nights of Wembley in 2010. Really want to go again this year. Just gotta see how it goes money-wise!

Trailer sounds epic! Here is the supposed track list:
Provisional/Working Titles (in alphabetical order)
Animals
Chalice
Explorers
Follow Me
Hiding to...
Madness
Panic Station
Save Me
Supremacy
Survival
Unsustainable (This one apparently is what is heard in the trailer)
Unknown (The Award?)

New album trailer is a little disappointing, I think but then again it may just be the boys taking the mickey as they often do in press releases. Even my friends who are die-hard Muse fans think its very odd!

I saw them perform at Wembley stadium last time they toured and I was a little disappointed :( They didn't really live up to the hype really for me. I think I shall give this tour a miss. Oh and the tickets have gone up in price to ~£55 + booking fees bringing it to around £60.

I was seated, so I guess its a bit different but its not effected how much I've enjoyed other gigs before.

I cant knock muse as musicians at all, the three of them are brilliant and their sound progression through the albums as you mentions is great 👍

Yes, Even for a category like that, It's more annoying that if you go onto eBay theres already a tonne of Muse tickets for the up and coming gigs and to add insult to injury selling them at stupidly high prices. I mean I love Muse but I'm not going to pay upwards of £150 to go see them.

My friend was fortunate to get some in the member advance ticket allocation. I wasn't so lucky but got one of his instead. The other people we were planning on going with said tickets were sold out in a minute, for both 9am pre-sale and 10am general sale. I don't get the timing either....

I don't get why more isn't done to stop touting. Glastonbury request a photo for each ticket and surely just an address would be enough.

I'm going to Friday gig at the O2, anyone else fortunate enough to snare a ticket to any of the shows?

No :( I saw them both nights at Wembley Stadium last time out, got 3 tickets for 1 night and 4 for the other on play.com, spent out over 600 quid for them. Not doing that again. I am sure they will do festivals and a stadium tour next year as per their usual routine.

I am desperate to see these guys, it looks like the O2 gigs have sold out but I think i've found tickets for their gig at the LG arena in Birmingham.
But i've heard some bad things about ticket sites and just wondered if anyone have had any problems with getmein.com? They are partners with ticket master.
I know about the inflated prices but money isn't an issue, are they reliable?

Muse have been selected to provide the official song of the London 2012 Olympics. The song is called survival and will get its first official airing on Radio 1 at 19:30 tonight followed by release on iTunes. It is off the album The 2nd Law so it will be the first taste of what is to come from the new album.

We are very excited to announce that a Muse song, Survival, has been selected by the London Olympic committee to be the main official song for the London 2012 Olympic Games. Matt wrote the song with the Olympics in mind. It's about total conviction and pure determination to win.

The song will be played throughout the Games including when athletes enter the stadium, in the lead up to the medal ceremony and also as the theme for all international TV coverage. The worldwide radio exclusive will be tonight on BBC Radio 1 around 19:30 and will be available to buy on iTunes and in the muse.mu store immediately afterwards.

We are honoured that the Olympics have chosen our song to officially represent the London 2012 Olympic Games across the globe.

EXCITING! Cant wait to hear it.

Its Zane Lowe's 'Hottest record in the world' at the moment so it can be listened to here along with an interview with the band. Not sure if that will work outside of the UK though.

Very weird.

I'm not sure about the backing vocals at one point, but having said that overall I like it, quite a bit. Especially the last minute and a half.
I presume they will be playing this at the opening ceremony, if so then I am looking forward to that, a LOT!

Scratch that last, I will miss it due to being at Global Gathering!!

I like it, I'd think that the BBC would use it for their coverage of the British GP.

I don't really know what to think. I absolutely loved Absolution; I think it's one of the best albums of the decade - but then Matthew Bellamy apparently went crazy and authorised Supermassive Black Hole to appear in TWILIGHT and then confirmed his little insanity trip with The Resistance.

So I'm not really sure when Danny Boyle and David Arnold were thinking with this. Given their latest output, Muse is probably one of the last acts I'd approach for the official song of the Olympics, though perhaps Bellamy knows he went to far last time out. The song is just a little too over-produced for my liking, but I was expecting that since it's been a common trait of Arnold's James Bond film scores since 1997.
