The next tuner challenge..

It will be a shame to replace an Audi with a small Lancer, but I can't see anything in the rules which would disallow the swap.

I finished fine tuning my FF car, it dropped from a 39.4 T1 to a 38.97 T1, can anyone beat that? :trouble:
Mind you, most drivers should only average a low 39sec pass. All it turned out I needed was a rear toe adjustment. I might just go and post this car now.

Oh yeah, did anyone else experience torque steer over bumps in their FF? I felt it in every FF I drove (at least 5- trying to find one I could keep the wheelspin out of)

Annoyingly, the Lancer has more torque, is lighter, and handles 100x better. Doesnt sound as good though. I'll get on the settings sheet now.

My Civic does 41s, and torque steer? Not in my Civic. :sly:

Edit: Lancer posted where the RS4 once stood. I still have a copy of the RS4 settings sheet so if Kent has any objections, I can put the RS4 back.

That's funny, we'll see when I drive it come judgement day. My car is also a Honda, not your typical FF Honda like a Civic or Jazz, but Honda nonetheless.

The Lancer has more torque? It must have loads more power then.

Only 430bhp, the RS4 had 485bhp.

Lancer
Power: 430bhp @ 6500rpm
Torque: 422.04lb-ft @ 3500rpm

RS4
Power: 485bhp @ 6500rpm
Torque: 401.93lb-ft @ 2500 - 6000rpm

Peak power is at the same RPM for both, but the Audi revs to 7600rpm, whilst the Lancer revs to 7300rpm.

Crazy Germans.

So, are you surpised by my 38.9 second T1 car? Are you surprised at what it is?

I am actually. 👍 Clever choice too, with all that weight, you have a lot more grip, so you can use that power instead of spinning it away. ;)

It'll be interesting to see how the heavy coupe scores against the lightweight hatchbacks. :)

I hope it scores well. It has superb handling. Its size might let it down but I doubt it.

Should be interesting for sure...
I doubt the size will be a problem but I noticed it was running about 280hp which is difficult in GT4. In real life 280hp is possible with a well tuned FF but in GT4 280hp in a FF is near impossible without serious wheelspin.
We'll just have to wait and see. I'm not saying it is impossible, I've managed to create a few FFs with 280hp and little wheelspin.
However, generally speaking, I've found the limits of FF are 250hp and at best 4.5pwr. Of course, that's on Sports tires and on the average tune... Amazingly well tuned cars might handle more power or lower pwr without a problem.

Bottom line:
The limits for FFs on sports tires in GT4 are a little lower than I'd like but still close to accurate of real life. Of course, with that in mind, I think FF cars in GT4 are tons better than FF in GT3... I just hope the trend of improvements continues with GT5.

Pffft.. Aussies and their crazy overpowered FF's.. *resists the urge to turn the ST170 into more powerful and faster car* must.. maintain balance between.. driving enjoyment and performance..:banghead:

This was on my mind for some time. But I was hesitant to post it since I was relatively new here.

NA vs Turbo street showdown:
2.0L and under, NA or turbo only
no weight reduction/no rollcage
street-legal N3 road tires only
No racing-grade upgrade parts (such as no brake distribution controllers and pads and other race car-only technologies; we'll discuss this later)
maximum downforce for the front and rear
AWD entrants receive weight penalties
power-weight ratios limitation

This concept is borne out of real-life tuning garages taking their customer/demo cars to mild track competitions.

Forget the legal racing why dont we have an illegal race

Leo: My car will invariably be more powerful.

And lighter. Both the cars I'm tossing around have just a smidge over 300hp.

You haven't seen overpowered.......yet!! :trouble: BTCC style baby!! :D Watch the entry list space. ;)

It's difficult to get the right balance I know.....took me longer than expected to get an AWD'er with that balance.

well, I did try 300bhp turbo and 304bhp NA and the car wasn't any quicker despite the changes in gearbox.. so, I guess it is as good as it can get. Finesse over raw power is the key to good FF, I guess..

I shall show you grasshopper, the way of the screaming two litre. ;)

Well, the number of cars now stands at an impressive 18 tuners, with at least 5 or more in each category, all a little unique in their own ways

I've never been one to drink coffee, but I have a feeling that may change come the 21st :scared:

I have an FF car that is just over 300hp in a circuit tune. Pretty quick thing too, less than a second off a standard R34 V-Spec Nur II on S3 tyres at GVS. Can't remember if I released it yet or not.

this is surprising.., my EK9 and AE86 are evenly matched.., they have about the same T1 sector and lap time on Citta 'di Aria.., the AE86 leads by about a fraction of a second though but still, if two highly-skilled drivers are going to test my cars.., people, we would have an adrenaline-pumping touge battle here, oh yeah! :sly:

(going to tinker again some more on the EK9.., *dashes off*)

Hey guys, while we're at it with our tuner cars I just wanted to basically get an EOI about a little concept I'm thinking of.

I want to do a game of HORSE amongst us tuners. No garage loyalties here, it's just tuner against tuner. If you're not familiar to the concept this is what I mean:

Someone puts up a task and show the others how it's done. The other tuners then have to match or better that effort by the 1st person. The 2nd person then picks a task and goes on person by person. If you can't accomplish your task, you get a letter to spell out HORSE. :D You spell HORSE and you're out.

Who wants to hook into this (AFTER TCv3 has finished of course!!)???? It would be good to see how varied we all can be with our choices.

That sounds might time consuming, how about we play CAR instead. Less letters in CAR :D What kinds of challenges would they be. We all know Greycap would probably win any lap time things.

Yeah, CAR sounds better, I'm just sprouting the idea that's all. :sly: And the challenges would be up to the person, depending on who's turn it is. For example, if there was you, me, RJ & Leo it would be your choice 1st, then my choice, then RJ's choice then Leo's choice.....or it can just be winner's choice everytime. It can be anything from Circuit & Rally laptimes, to drag, to 300mph, drift.......WHATEVER you can reasonably think of as a challenge for all of us. :D

So the AE86 is really slow then? :p Or the Spoon is really fast?

you guys already know why their lap times match..,

The AE86 will always be better out of those two for a simple reason. ;)

it's very obvious isn't it?? ;)

Either that, or that it isn't wrong wheel drive. :D

uh.., yah, sure, whatever.., (backs off a bit, then leaves..,) j/k

hey, i just had the craziest idea!! in fact, i might just change my EK9's setup again.., i like to experiment.., :D
