I only ask because the simultaneity of freedom and equality was kind of the foundational principle of our country, which seems contrary to what you posted.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

So what does equality mean to you?

I think the word capacity is important in the quote I put up relative to what you are saying. I do not see the two concepts as incompatible.

I kinda see that as a nonsensical question. If you ask what it means that’s one thing.

If I’m free to define anything anyway I choose then isn’t communication impossible in a sense?
If we can use the same term and it means one thing to me and one thing to you that’s not communication that’s me speaking German to you who are only a Russian speaker or vice versa ::shrug:::

I feel like you are using the word equality when you mean ability, which is why I'm asking. I don't see equality and freedom at odds with each other at all.

Hold on a moment. I posted the quote. The word capacity has meaning does it not? I think if you take a moment and ponder the quote it’s meaning will become more clear.

That quote was written by a guy who spent time in the Gulag to help on context. I almost feel like this is some gotcha game instead of communication in these sections of the site.

"Normal people" don't have a problem with actors, artists, athletes, comedians, musicians and people who are celebrities for no apparent reason having and voicing opinions. "Normal people" have a problem when those opinions don't align with their own.
 
The whole situation is pretty sad. Even if he is innocent, the kid's life is probably ruined.

While he might've been defending himself, Rittenhouse isn't even close to innocent. He purposely went to the riots brandishing a firearm and from what I've seen he wasn't even from Kenosha, let alone Wisconsin. He wasn't defending his property and that's a huge issue. If he'd lived in the city and shot people in front of his house, it'd be a far different story than traveling to dish out some vigilante justice.

I'm not sure what charges fit for him, but he shouldn't be getting off scot-free.

From what I read he went there to protect a business based on a call for help from a local business owner. Based on the wording, it doesn't seem like it was anything official. And he and his friend went there, but we don't have the full details. He then went across the street to a gas station to help someone. Not sure why Rosenbaum started running after him.

Supposedly he lives with his mom in Antioch, IL and she works as a nursing assistant. My guess is she was either working, sleeping, or Rittenhouse told her he was going to friend's house. Or maybe he has free reign to do what he wants, but that seems hard to believe for someone who's 17. It doesn't sound like his dad is in the picture.

Someone over the age of 18 had to have bought him his gun as well, unless I'm mistaken about Illinois gun laws (which I very well might be). He also, apparently, doesn't have a license either since two weeks ago he was pulled over and cited for speeding and driving without a license.

No one was hit with the skateboard if you actually watch the video.

When he approaches Rittenhouse, he's bending down with his left hand towards the gun, with his right arm extended outwards away from Rittenhouse, holding the skateboard. His momentum causes him to topple over Rittenhouse with his left hand grabbing a hold of the gun & his right arm still extended away. With Anthony having a hand around the barrel trying to pull the gun, Rittenhouse fires a round directly up into Huber's body. The entire exchange happens in just 2 seconds as Huber crosses over Rittenhouse's body.

Ignore the fact that after Rittenhouse sits back up, he sees another man moving towards his left. He immediately points the gun and fires off another round into the man.

Then, he got up and calmly walked away before jogging to the police. He didn't bother stopping to check on anyone or admit to the police at the end of street, he just shot 2 people in self-defense. No, he went back an hour away home.

Seriously, I'll crack a cold one and work at night. By letting me drink, my boss is getting at least 8-10 extra hours out of me a week. Seems like a fair trade-off.

The Whale must sell out quickly (in the good way) as he seems to be down to his last three or four pieces of reimagined-meme-based merchandise. Wish he had an archive of designs.

I'm with him on the hazy beer though. I'm crazy for hazy though it makes me lazy.
