Wait, you aren't trolling?

What are the GT target times for Tokyo?

I'm thinking that any amount of laps will be better than I've done. Consider, that I haven't run a single lap, and I think you'll understand. Technically I can imagine that preseason isn't really important.

Tbwhhs is really inactive at the moment, I can barely talk to him. :( I guess if he doesn't mind, this is our final banner.

Sorry about that I just haven't had much time this week, and it looks alot better than anything that I could have done. I just now got to practice a few laps this afternoon. I was running in the 1:43s but I only ran 4-5 laps and I didn't do anything to the tuning.
Also what is the exact shade of red on the wheels?

I don't remember the exact shade, but if you have a bright red color that's an Audi make I'm sure that's the color.

EDIT - It's Brilliant Red, I'll send you the color.

Got it, thanks.

I'll be back for sure tomorrow. A friend of mine let me borrow his spare TV until I can save up to buy what I really want. :)

Just to make sure, its Tokyo for tomorrow right?

I'm pretty sure it is.

Thats cool then. I might not be so bad off after all. I spent a good amount of time on this track during one of the recent seasonals.

I'll set up a practice room at Tokyo if any of you are interested...

EDIT - Currently running mid 43s but have massive front tire wear.

I'm having front tire wear too, but it's manageable.

Same here. I did a test yesterday. I barely modified my Daytona RC setup.

FH, I'm glad to hear that you'll be back! :)

Is Damu still on Skype? My buddies came over. We played 1 v 1 v 1 CodWaW until they teamed up on me, and I won by more than 100 kills. I won't brag, but I tend to see them before they see me.

He is... But it's 5:30 in the morning there.... So he may have just left his computer on...

After lap 6 my fronts are just dead. :grumpy: How long do your guys' tires last?

Slower in, faster out. I've noticed that you're competitive in F1 series... That's the polar opposite of the car you're in now.

F1-light
Audi-heavy
F1-high downforce
Audi-low downforce
F1-high power
Audi-mid power
F1-MR layout
Audi-mid-engined 4WD

So, while the F1 cars will reward you for late braking, with more tire grip in cornering, and you can brake really late, the Audi is the car that's about arcing your corners as much as possible, and using the AWD to help the car out of the corners. Pretend you're driving on comfort tires going INTO the corner, and that you're in the F1 car on exit.

The problem is that I'm driving as smoothly as possible, braking early for the 1st and last corner and every other corner I try to brake smoothly. But the fronts wear out quickly even though I try to be smooth mid-exit corner. I guess it's part of Tokyo, even in the F1 series the fronts were dead in this track.

Hmm, try stiffening the rear roll bars and sliding some more power rearwards. I came very close to winning the championship (10 points) last season, in the Audi R8 4.2. Now, this year, the 5.2 is supposedly going to be worse on tires, because it's heavier, but you should at least be able to get even tire wear.

1/7 roll bars and brake bias is in the rear. I also put the extra balance frontwise to keep the front heavier and keep the car's front tires from becoming light, and it's at 30/70 torque. I'll ask tbwhhs if he has the same issues.

We're not talking about the weight "weighing the car down." In fact, the opposite is true, and the ballast should be put to the rear, because, at mid-corner, the inertia of the motor (think of having an aquarium in your car) will actually cause the tires to LOSE grip. If weight gave more grip, the best handling cars would weigh more than Airbus airplanes.

Instead, lighter cars are faster because they hold their grip better; the inertia is significantly reduced. By putting more weight on the front tires, you're forcing the front tires to overcome more inertia, instead of less inertia. This is why Front-engined, rear wheel drive cars are better drift cars than MR or RR cars. Once an MR or RR car loses rear grip, the motor "swings" at a higher rate of speed, implying that there will be more inertia created, and more grip needed to save the car from a spin.

However, too far to either side is detrimental to a car's performance. I almost always use a 50/50% ballast split in my cars. It's important, because a 50/50 weight distribution creates grip through an equal distribution of inertia and other forces which actually act upon the negative loss of grip in a further negative way.

There's almost no way to actually get around a corner without losing grip. However, all four tires need to lose grip "equally" in order to balance tire wear out, and get around the corner correctly, and efficiently.

If you have too much inertia carrying the front of the car forward, without enough downforce, or other grip, your car will understeer.

If you have too much inertia over the rear of the car, pushing the rear tires forward, the car will slide around a LOT on corner entry, at apex, and on the exit.

In your case, putting weight to the front doesn't push the car down, it actually promotes a loss of grip, by promoting a gain of negative inertia, directly causing your car to battle with the laws of physics. That's a battle that can't be won, it can only be altered, for best result.

If you put a brick on a slippery ramp, with a corner at the bottom, drawn in with chalk, the brick doesn't magically turn; that's inertia. The inertia causes the brick to slide forward. Now, put that brick on wheels, and watch how much farther away from the chalk line it goes. Velocity+mass/friction is effectively inertia. The actual equation is much more complicated, but friction is a good thing, in some cases, because it causes the car to turn, but bad, in some cases, because it is the reason for tire wear and a loss of grip (friction isn't enough to compensate for inertia.

Driving a car slowly, with little to no inertia allows the tires to grip better, and to turn more without losing grip. As you increase speed, the inertia also increases...

Physics lesson over: My main point, is that ballast over the rear will cause a car to turn sharper, and save the front tires more, by transferring the inertia of the car towards the center of the car, spreading the job of the tires across the four tires.

The ballast was at -2 with 7kg of weight, it might not have made the biggest difference. I'll get the ballast at +5-10 now.

Oh, you made it sound more substantial. Still, 7 kgs is a decently large amount of weight... Sorry, if I came across as a jerk, but, I don't want Storm to be my only competition. He's coming on strong for this series.

It's alright. I just felt dumb after reading that post, no harm done. The Viper does seem like a fast car, not sure about Storm. I haven't seen him drive yet, I'll see tomorrow.

StormPacer17 won at Daytona. he even kicked mine. :ouch: Not for long, ya prick, Storm, NOT FOR LONG! :D
