You have seen him drive. StormPacer17, who was in the bright orange Viper at Daytona last weekend, is me. Helloooo! It's alright. I just felt dumb after reading that post, no harm done. The Viper does seem like a fast car, not sure about Storm. I haven't seen him drive yet, I'll see tomorrow.
I'm glad that you're getting the Mazda sorted out, MrM, because I did feel sorry for you having difficulties with the tyres. I evened out the wear on the Mazda in testing by having less brake balance and more front, that way the car was braking amply before turn 1. I was running the RX-8 at 450 bhp and 1100kg, and got a 1:46.5.... its a pretty unpredictable car though. I don't think I could drive the car the whole race and not make a major slip-up.
As for the Audi, I'm tempted to have the car run at 470 bhp and 1320 kg. My opinion is that depepnding on how the Torque diff is laid out, you'll be going more for pace having 30-40% front torque, while 10-15% front torque diff gives better overall tyre wear. The car was sliding like mad on the braking at Turn 1 of Daytona when I tested it, but I still had 1:47's in the bag.
