What should the best tire we use for Season 3 be?

The Mazdas are def. fast in the straights. Even in their draft I couldnt get a run on them. Just enough to keep up. All the other cars seemed equal in the straights though. No real advantage between us there.

Im not calling for the RX-8 to be neutered. But it should be balanced a little more.

I thnk the most I got out of my tires was 7 laps. 👎 I was over driving the car, trying to close the gap between Mel & I. Time to go back to the drawing board I guess. To much front tire wear. Which was expected. But I thought I got it down to where the wear was a little more even.

The track doesn't like the front tyres much, it seems. I was finding that in testing earlier.

I'm so utterly annoyed at my lack of connection tonight. I have to say that there's a massive downpour that hasn't ceased for hours, so... but even then I was fine in the ITCC lobby after a reset and cache clear, so why it didn't work for Rolex's lobby I don't know.

So Mazda managed to win at Tokyo? Melancholy will be happy with himself, and try to gloat about it to the rest of us. That's if my little PSN message saying "Mazda's faster ;P" has anything to do with it.

The only time the Mazda's speed is going to help it a bucketload is in draft. It's lighter and has more power, despite the lower torque. Things that's going to tick me off is people not regulating the other aspects aside from lap times. YAY! all cars are the same speed, now watch as the one with the best tyre life win every race.

I must say, great race tonight guys! I'm really sorry that we started a hour behind, ITCC had a issue... Actually has a lot of issues, but that's for another thread...

I'm very happy we only had one caution!!! It was quite long, I think maybe DP and GT pit on the same lap, and we go green at the end of that lap would work, but if we can't test it this week, I won't put it in for the first race of the season. Too much confusion.

I'm fairly happy with myself, not because I finished last in class, but because i didn't crash :P Believe it or not, that was my first race being the faster class! I had fun getting through the GT traffic! I was off pace partially on purpose, I wanted to get used to the traffic.

And before I forget, restarts happen at the start/finish line ONLY. Y'all started at the end of the last turn...left me behind.... Kinda screwed me over. I'll put together a highlight video for the race :) it'll be fun!

Here's a list of people off the top of my head who aren't in the series anymore due to attendance:

Nitrorocks- attendance
Wardez- attendance (I sent 2 messages dude)
Mrdaytona500- attendance
James6653- attendance
Agentorunge- attendance

Maybe More, but that's all I can think of...

Soo these cars now have openings:

Toyota Minolta (1)
Ferrari 458 (1)
Chevrolet Camaro (2)

And how Anthony's and Seth's points will work...

Their points x2 - 10

It was a reply to your "Challenge Accepted" from last week. :)

I found out, after the race, that the Mazda had actually jumped up to 484 hp. That was my mistake. Since then, I've lowered the power back to what I recommended before preseason testing; 475. And, if you guys think that it's still too much, just remember that I will only get better tire life and fuel mileage with less power. Consider that I didn't make a single stint of 7 laps, as FH did, and I think it's somewhat even. The lead margin was about a second, and it came down to the last straightaway.

However, I was getting a bit of understeer, because I had been overworking myself with the [lack of] organization in the ITCC. Too many people were complaining about the rules, DURING the round. That's unacceptable.

Finally; are we doing cautions for debris on the track? Seriously! You guys put tires, boxes, and segments of walls all over the track! I've lost races in my karting career, due to debris on the track, it's not fun. I don't want to be going 160 km/h through a corner, and find on the other side that a section of the bloody wall's in my way.

However, the cautions went well. I liked the caution today, but I didn't like that the DP cars were almost too far ahead to catch up to. At Suzuka, GT cars would have no chance of catching up to DP cars.

Finally, I'd like to ask that we devise a way to ensure that the two fields are bunched together at restarts. Honestly, DP/GT restarts are realistic and help GT cars by allowing us to finish a larger percentage of the race...

DP could go slow the GT pit lap... And we could have had a caution for debris. I got air on a plastic white thing... Itll be in the highlight video ;)

Which is what I was thinking. I wanted to slow down while pushing those things aside. No one has to gain or lose time because of them. We just have to move them aside without someone getting the short stick and getting airborne into a wall.

I got airborne!

I got airborne!

You were lucky not to hit a wall. I don't like going airborne on city tracks. I don't even like going airborne on big, open tracks, because I temporarily lose grip.

Which I can't really feel anymore :( I'm calling Logitech tomorrow morning!

Good luck!

I think they have lifetime warranties.... But I just got mine for Christmas, so it shouldn't have broken yet.

But again, guys good job for only having one caution!

That caution was rough. Watch daiba and skilla and FH for the first 6 or 7 laps... I was lucky to be in the lead at that point...

I know, I know, I know. I think today's caution was 4 Laps. A 3 lapper would be fine, but again, if we can't test it this week, it won't be used.

And it may not be a bad idea for this weekend, having the 4 lap caution. It would give everyone a break... 2 hours is a really long race. Maybe we could have seperate caution procedures for the endurance races?

Well, in the worst case scenarios, the 4 lap cautions at least give GT a chance to catch up to DPs. I know it must be boring as hell running for four laps at a reduced pace, but I used to do real life karting, and you'd be surprised; once a caution comes out, it bunches the field up again 💡 AND GIVES YOU A CHANCE TO CATCH UP TO THE PEOPLE IN FRONT OF YOU, making a fun benefit to everyone except the leader, who gets (effectively) a free chance to change tires and add fuel.

So, even if you don't like cautions now, years of experience from karting tells me that cautions are fun and interesting ways to break up the monotony of running hot laps... You'll come around to like them, I promise.

And, for me, it gives me that one little chance to be like Sebastian Vettel, and open a big gap following a restart. I absolutely LOVE opening big gaps following a restart.

I had a blast season 1. I wish everyone good luck this season. I will be back season 3. I will be following both series very closely.

I told you many times!!

Did someone actually yell out caution? I t-boned someone in the chicane. I think it was Mel, but I was able to keep going. Wasnt till I caught up to the next person that I realized it was a caution. And then mass confusion on my end. I didnt know where I was supposed to start.

Coming out of the pits, I thought for sure that I would have to start a little further back because I thought I gained positions in the caution. So I slowed down to let the rest of the field pass. But then I heard a bunch of horns and then someone telling me to hurry and catch up to Mel. :dopey:

The actual racing was all good fun though. In GT class anyway. Everyone seems to be right on par with each other. 👍

So does changing the timer at the end of the race ;)

Polar, I DEMAND that you highlight my pit lane incident! DEMAND I SAY! :dopey:

I don't think we're ready for the season. Maybe making up another preseason round will work. I don't think the RX-8 is balanced enough. The way I ate through FH's lead was scary. Just needed more practice and some more tuning to get a touch better through the corners, and I could have dominated on the straights and kept ahead in corners. I also could run same length stints to FH, though 1 lap more was where I lost it. :sly:

Tempted to go for a 465/1250 set up. The weight improves the traction and tyre life. it also would get it "in field" I think.

Also, I think we could impose Anthony's idea. Everyone pit straight on the 2nd lap. However, I believe those involved in the caution should stay where they are. This allows others to work their way thorugh the carnage. After all cars in their class have gone past, then they can go, hence they are at the back of the field. I ended up last after the caution, though I'm certain I wasn't involved. Also kind of felt awkward with the seemingly "race pace" during the caution. Maybe implement Storm's idea instead?

I'm definitely for having cautions, I just think the system could use a little work. Had today's race been a bit dirtier than it was, we could have easily had 1/3 of the race under caution 4x3=12 36/12=3

As for another preseason race, if 6 people think we need one (or a good amount) we will have one. Everyone needs to be ready for the season.

I do think that the Mazda drivers (not Seth) need to have 1 set of specs for the car that they both use.

And can anyone put a 787b up for share? I need a picture for the OP.

I think we need another preseason round. The 787B needs to be officially specd. 495/1030 is too good IMO. He was pulling almost even with me in the draft. Torque or no torque it is still 20 kgs lighter. That gives it better tire wear.

True, shall we do a slight re spec of DP cars to adjust all of us?

The nissan has not a good tire wear, if you see the replay I used soft at the 1st stint and medium at the 2nd and 3rd, when all of you used soft at all stints. The tire wear i not good, think about it and re-spec too!

I know Storm wanted the viper specd better for tire wear as well. We may need to just meet up this weekend and finalize specs rather than run another race. This will give the people who don't show up one last chance to stay in the series.

I used softs the whole race, just to keep myself off the wall :) it didn't work too well :P

But I think a HP reduction and weight reduction would help us all out :)

490HP as a base, and closer to 1000KG?

We can test these throughout the week and the weekend.

We sure will! And my wheel is acting normal today (phew!) so after gp2, f1, continental and indycar... I'll be on!

If you re-spec all the cars will be the same, the mazda, sauber and minolta had the same tire wear, the nissan one less lap. Maybe less kg and the same hp, I don't know, we have to test it, maybe using ds3 you has less tire wear than using wheel, i don't know, that is the reason because I want a teammate, to compare tire wear, speed, consisten...

I think ds3 has more tire wear, but well work on it.
