I have my ballast set at 17 to the rear. This gives the Evora a 39/61 weight distribution which is true to real life.

I got a 39/61 from 5 to 17, so I split the difference and went with that. I also found it had too much oversteer for me to adequately handle the further back I put it, but a lot less understeer than I was trying to overcome with the previous tangent I was following.

I think it's pure awesomeness!
The idea is great!
And I never heard a Dowlin before ... :D

That is Awesome Dowlin. 👍 Great commentary and capture of key points.
Love the image you chose for the vid aswell. 👍

Liking your work dowlin 👍👍👍
I can see the commentary getting quite frantic with more cars.

I like what your doing.

Wow, I certainly didn't expect this kind of response, thank you very much guys I really appreciate it. I've had this idea brewing in my mind for a few weeks now but only attempted it last night so I'm glad it is getting such a warm response so early on.

As Goodwolf and GC have said, knowing key points of the race will make it easier for you to capture all the action. I will be watching the replays as usual, and letting you know of anything I experience in the races that may make it to the final cut.

As GC said with more cars it will get frantic but only at the beginning. Later in the race if you want to capture all the action and get a better video, you'll have to find the key points in the race on which you'll focus. Make short notes of what's going on and in front of it put the lap number so you can easily use this when your making a vid. This way your commentary too will be rich and improved.

A good point about pre-recording race notes goodwolf. You could perhaps use a "ride along" on individuals fastest laps as filler, if nothing much is happening on track.

@Dowlin, great effort, just please don't speak of yourself in the 3rd person, kinda creepy...

Also I really appreciate the feedback, just what I wanted 👍

The idea I have is to treat the races I'm recording as if they are Live and on the T.V. which means that I plan on showing each race in its entirety. Of course the problem with that is that there is not always exciting action during every moment of the race but I have thought that during those moments, I could be talking about each driver or the championship positions or history of the series. Like a real commentator would in any form of motorsport.

And I agree with making sure I know when and where the key points of the race are happening in each race. It'l make the video better and look more professional aswell which is my aim. Also, CTR I probably will follow some people around the track for a lap or two as an onboard view aswell. I did that a little bit in the video but that race was a bit too hectic to do it effectively

Lastly sorry Third  I realise it probably is a bit weird refering to myself in 3rd-person. I guess I was trying to sound like an anonymous commentator rather than a biased driver talking about his race but I understand.

As for my commentating itself, I think I will record it in one session while I watch the full race for continuity and just convenience too.

Wow now that is a wall of text  Sorry for the long post guys, I'm just very excited to get this up and running and I have more plans for this to make it look as good as I can. I'm very happy you all like it so far so it will only encourage me to do more. 👍 👍 👍

P.S. I like the picture too Ade ;) It's only fitting to have the man who started it all in front and centre. 👍

Big lol to last two posts:)

Dowlin, they all gave you good advices.
I think it is hard to get all what is going on track if you are just playing full replay becouse it is hard to be a director and comentator in a same time.It need many cuts of replay(of action) to be fully interasted,it needs lot of changing cameras/views and different angles of the same stuff, and that is a lot of work to do by yourself.
But that is just me, looking for perfection...

All I said was in a good manner:tup:

Edit:
allmost forgot, when you are filming it try to log out from PSN, we dont want to see who just went off/online ;)

Oh I know it was good advice, I was just explaining what I had planned thats all. I was just already a bit aware of the issues it could have. But I'm sure with more time and experience, I and the video's will become better.

Ok, I wont have much time to practice and I need information about tires.
How much they affect on time, after how many laps car is undriveable, what time are you doing after 10 laps on both compound...anything
Any tactics idea?

Personally, my hard times are about 2 seconds slower than my meds. My meds hit the cliff at about lap 20 and are almost undrivable by lap 25. times about 1:30.6xx med and 1:33.0xx hard.

Nice work with the commentary Dowlin, good luck for doing a whole race 👍

Set-ups are strange things, one driver's preference dosen't always suit another. Having said that, here's mine:

-22 -20
10.0 15.5
7 6
7 6
7 6
2.5 2.5
0.00 -0.30

Ballast 13

Good effort with the commentary Dowlin, we could all pick out our own bits of the race where we thought we had some interesting battles or sideways moments etc. Might save you some time spending hours looking through everyone's replays!

@Jimftr, I wouldn't say 1:30's are slow, Its a very tricky track to master. Don't know whether this will help you, but heres a replay with guide to driving Motegi from an extremely quick driver in GT Academy, its quite long (skip to 40:40 to watch full lap) and with a different car though they do produce similar lap times. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZILNcVJFjag

I'm going online shortly if anyone wants to join me.

Race weekend is here, so tonight is the last opportunity to get some practice laps in for Motegi. I will open the lobby at 8.00pm. Usual short race format using both tyres.

Sorry I've been a bit off the radar guys, just really busy lately and little time for PS3. I've just done a ten lap session on mediums and managed a 1.31.2. obviously much room for improvement but not sure how much time I will get between now and the race.

Did a few laps on the hards and the best was a 1.33.1.

Socal and I are practicing right now. I will not be home later on, but I'll see you tomorrow.

Great stuff Goodwolf and Socal. Nice to see racers getting together and having track time for this race. Just an hour to go until race #2 practice opens.

Fun practice session.. Had a few really nice little moments with Gary (Captain) and Adam 👍

I like the new Avatar Ade.. Very smoooooth :)

Yeah was fun! it will be interesting to see what pitstop strategy people use tomorrow. Still not sure whether 1 stop or 2 stop will be quicker.

Same here.. I think I might try 25 laps and then 15 on the hard tomorrow and see how that goes vs a 2 stopper.

Last practice is done, and Dan is still the pace setter on the medium tyre. Hancock however showed true pace, and set the fastest time on the hard, so tomorrows race could see a HELLRAZOR/HANCOCK Mega battle. I got nowhere near my PB from last week tonight, but who knows what tomorrows race will bring. GC showed some strong and consistent laps tonight. It could be anybody's race tomorrow.

Thanks for the praise, my car was misbehaving at times and I can't for the life of me work out why. A little due to poor driving 👎 sorry if that messed up anyone's session. She just didn't want to grip at times.
