I have no captions on it for right now, but I figured I'd upload it blank so you can add some if you want.

EDIT: Just finished part 1 of The Ballad of Twilight Sparkle, and I am loving it so far. I was going to try to finish the whole thing, but I ended up having some friends over and I just now got around to starting. Everything is so well written and the entire concept behind it feels like it could very well be an episode of the show. Well, more like if the show's writers were to write another 2 part episode ,well, aside from the alcohol and other more adult themes that may show up in the future chapters.

Now its not watching it so much as soaking in the absolutely absurd amount of high quality fan content.








So, today I learned that my brother has seen enough episodes to be considered a Brony (Sorta. He has seen the episodes, but other than me constantly referencing/laughing at things that are only related to the show through fan work he has no idea about the fanbase. For example, he has no idea why I'm terrified of Pinkie Pie), which is fantastic because it means that he knows enough about it that I can use it to needle him.
Fun fact: When your brother tries to put off a manly man act that everyone who knows him sees through instantly, saying he is just like Rarity and saying "A rock is your destiny" is the easiest way to make him RAEG. The fact that my sister has seen enough of the show to join in the fun only makes it better. Some may say that this is mean, but I simply say that it is the Trixie in my personality acting up.



Also, I've come to the conclusion that Bronies have absolutely ruined my ability to take certain words in the English language seriously anymore.

Daniel Ingram commented on the petition for a soundtrack release today, and the news isn't as good as we were hoping. Apparently, when Hasbro paid the singers for the vocal songs, the contract that was designed was only good for the show itself (because, for whatever reason, they didn't expect the show to be an amazing internet sensation. I know, right?) and not for any supplemental material.
Ingram basically said that Hasbro would either need to pay up what would likely be a large sum of money to renegotiate the original contracts with the vocal talent, or they would need to rerecord the songs purely for the soundtrack release (possibly with different vocalists, but he was vague on that point and I don't think that would be how it would play out).

There is something positive to think about, though. For one, it shows that someone at Hasbro clearly sees the money in it and has at least made it known what would need to be done first. Two, Ingram has commented in the past that he wanted to redo a couple of the songs anyways (for example, he's said several times that he wanted to record a non-terrible version of the Cutie Mark Crusaders power ballad), so it doesn't sound like the second option is that big of a deal if Hasbro gets behind it. Finally, Ingram confirmed point-blank that Hasbro has put the pieces in place to start an iTunes store for the show at some time in the future, so the suits are clearly testing the waters at the very least.


Of course, while I would certainly buy a soundtrack CD anyways, I would be much more interested in getting one as a pack-in with a Super Limited Edition Deluxe Package Blu-Ray release. *hint hint*

The Night That Never Ended had a comment war break out not too long ago that I just noticed (or, rather, I noticed it and took part in it, but completely forgot to keep track of it), and I figured I would bring it up here.

So, Chapter 8. Could it have all been avoided if Captain Dash or Spitfire revealed their identities to the crowd?




I said when the discussion broke out, and still continue to think, no. This was a crowd that was so thirsty for blood that they carried out the execution themselves in what basically amounts to the pony equivalent of beating someone to death with your bare hands.
Spitfire in particular would have been a goner regardless, because the only person who knew her was Soaren, but I can't imagine Captain Dash revealing herself wouldn't have done anything but make things worse than the already terrible way that Chapter 8 ended. My reasoning is that even if the Rarity herself stepped in (and I can guess she would have done so for Captain Dash, if only to figure out what the hell was going on), all it would have done is turn the populace against her as they attempted to kill Captain Dash and Spitfire anyways.


Now granted, this entire thing would have been avoided anyways if the New Ponyville leaders had put a little more effort into justice then their ultimate plan of:

Step 1: Capture Prisoners

Step 2: Make No Attempt to Defend Prisoners

Step 3: Execute Prisoners Anyways Over Strong Objections From Several Members

Step 4: ???

Step 5: Profit!


But that is just retreading ground we've already discussed, and is neither here nor there regardless.

Also, if you'll allow me to stand on a soap-box for a bit, what does it take to get some kick-ass fan art for this story? Sunset (a 6-Star story) was only 4 chapters long and there is plenty of awesome artwork for it (not that I'm complaining), The Ballad of Twilight Sparkle (another 6-Star) has been getting a steady supply of fan art for each chapter since Chapter 6 came out (still not complaining), and Progress (ditto) has been getting constant fan art since the first chapter (also not complaining).

Yet TNTNE is going on Chapter 12 and we haven't seen anything for it (despite it being also being a 6-Star story, which usually means plenty of people take a crack at drawing stuff for it). The story is clearly pretty popular on ED, but its almost as if the story has been ignored completely outside of the comment wars that happen every time a new chapter goes up. I can't imagine it is the content itself that is shying people away, because Sunset was just as dark as TNTNE is.

Aren't you people already doing this? I've been listening to the songs in my car for about a month now.
It does make a trip better.
However as you guys say if it was officially released I'd get that for better quality audio. (It might also get rid of the background sounds in some of the songs.)

If I just didn't suck at drawing...

yah, the weather is nice. The only problem is, I have to wake up early, or the sun will fry me right in the bed. (bed next to the window, curtains do not shield heat waves)

Just try and draw. First start drawing thin lines, they can be messy and all over the place, then draw more pronounced lines, and after that draw final lines that will show the finished image. Use those first thin lines as a guide to your final vision.

He just said he wanted something with Fluttershy, so I cooked this up in about 20 or so minutes(not including time spent searching for the pictures, I actually captured both frames myself, so that part took a while). Again, shading isn't perfect, but I feel like I'm getting better.
And each of them by themselves is adorable, but together I feel it's almost too much.

EDIT: It is worth noting that I am using a mouse, so I don't have the same control I would with specialized equipment.

And I'm not even talking about the stuff being edited to increase the humor value like that one is. I'm talking straight up "YouTube is basically telling a Bob Saget joke about this scene" kinda stuff. Spike talking about the Holocaust, Twilight talking about yaoi fan fiction to Dash and AJ, Celestia commenting on someone in the show no longer being jailbait, etc. And there are several that I wouldn't even describe here on GTP.
