Actually not very long. He posted right after Toronado spotted him, but his message was not approved, and it didn't showed up until now, and he could not post anymore, we had a small conversation, and he told me about this situation, and I just asked a Sphinx moderator about this and he got approved, and now his message appeared and he can post more. Bad news, everybody.

One of the comments in the edit war last night made me rethink something, and now I've come to the shocking conclusion that I don't really have any particular reason to hate Trixie.


This is awful news, quite frankly. Gilda has already been redeemed by sadfics, and Trollestia is mostly pure fan conjecture (plus The Sun is Tired kinda ruined the concept for me), so I don't have anyone from the show to make mean-spirited jokes about. I mean, what is Friendship without a designated Super Bitch to ostracize as a group? Its certainly not Magic.

What was the comment?

I'm too lazy to look for it, but I'll give the general idea:
She was a traveling magician who was acting like a traveling magician. Showy, boastful, full of crap and having tons of slight of hand tricks up her sleeve; but perfectly in character for how a traveling magician is supposed to act, because being a braggart is almost the entire point. She also clearly had good amounts of magical skill. And then the Mane Six (Twilight excepted) started heckling her. Basically, she was a successful performer for a really lousy audience.

Then Snips/Snails and Spike got it into their heads that they needed to defend the honor of Trixie and Twilight (respectively), even though Twilight wanted nothing to do with it and Trixie didn't really seem to care. This led to Spike constantly pushing Twilight to pick a fight with Trixie, which led to Spike telling those two idiots (albeit unintentionally) to put up or shut up when Twilight refused.



I mean, its clear that Trixie was somewhat stuck up even when she wasn't performing (no more than I would say Rarity tends to be, but that's perhaps getting off topic), but when the chips were down she still attempted to defend the town from the Ursa even though she didn't think she could succeed. And then the Mane Six ran Trixie out of town with all of her stuff left behind, destroyed, in the town square.

Yeah, I was actually thinking something along those lines for a few days now. Ill actually elaborate on my feelings about this when I get home. I hate typing any more than a paragraph on my phone.

This. She should have responded in a more professional way, i.e.: Kicking them out or leaving the stage. Instead she just went picking fights with everypony that told her she sucked.


Also, about the "Errant magicians are supposed to be arrogant" part; I believe its more like "Errant magicians should have tons of confidence".

Situation:

Someone: - You are no better than any of us!

Confident response:

- Prove it.

Arrogant response:

-Anything you do, I can do better.

Also, that particular phrase boils my blood. So it may be personal.

Somehow, if driving the PDI Kart 100 was this easy, I'd have aced the Karting event by now...I mean, if you can go 'round the track Wide Open with your eyes closed...

well, perhaps she's using magic. In which case, I WANT MAGIC, TOO.

I found a crapload of really nice images that I'm in the process of getting up in the gallery, but none of that particular scene. I'm sure one exists, because its too popular for it to not, but I haven't been able to find one.


Edit: On that topic, early artwork for the show looks weird. I found some vector work for stuff like the intro scene, and I'm curious how much earlier that was animated compared to the rest of the show. I had always thought the stuff on a lot of the toy packaging looked off, but still.

Edit 2: Also, just in case anyone would ever need it, I found a vector of Pinkie that is 10,000 by 10,000.

Edit 3: The Sun is Tired just got a new update. This time with a shiny new GrimDark tag. Crap.

Right, so I've been thinking about the fact that she was just a showpony doing her job, but until recently that still bugged me. And the more I think about it, the more I like her, and the more I hope she end's up returning in S2.

The only time we ever saw Trixie while she wasn't working to impress a crowd was when she was talking to Snips and Snails, and even though she was kind of a bitch to them, I would probably do something similar if I had 2 completely morons who would follow my every command. Especially if they were as annoying as Snips & Snails.


The main thing I wanted to say though, is that in the end, the fact she still boasted defeating an Ursa Major, even after her failed attempt at stopping an Ursa Minor, really pissed me off at first. I mean, even after she was publicly exposed as having a mere fraction of the power of what she thought was just another townspony, she still had the gall to continue boasting.

That's what I thought at first, but then I thought some more about the boasting and the fact she just ran away into the Everfree Forest. And the more I thought about it, the more I realized it was just a panic reaction. She just had her reputation smeared by what she saw as nothing more than a simple townspony. She was made a full of in front of all of those ponies, and her panic reaction was to find something to boast about, because that's what she does for a living. Even though she probably knew nopony would believe her. Then out of shame she just took off in any direction, as long as it was away from all of those ponies who witnessed her public humiliation.

After this realization, I went from feeling anger toward her, to nothing but sympathy.


And I actually think it's reasonable to believe she will return in S2. Maybe she begins to feel remorseful about her actions there, and comes back through town. I would like to see her come back with an apology for how she reacted after Twilight beat her, or just during the whole thing. She might admit she took the boasting just a little to far.


Besides, just look at this adorable face;

Now I can safely say: "D'aawwwwww....it's so adorable."
It's just too god damn cute.



And for clarification, TNTNE Trixie can go 🤬 her self.

For starters, she's popular, but more importantly it would also be fairly easy to write a followup episode for her if she returned. Aside from Luna, if any of the one-shots make a return appearance I would put money on it being Trixie.

I've always felt that she would make a return in season 2, although I get the feeling that if she did, her persona would be pretty much the same as it was in Boast Busters and that she would try to play down the fact that she fled town, literally, in a cloud of smoke.

If I'm honest, I never really felt that much contempt towards Trixie when I watched the actual show, but in TNTNE however.....let's just say that she's easily my number 1 hate figure at this moment in time.
