You know, I don't like chewing people out for not knowing what they are talking about (well, I do, but... shut up), but it burns me up when people claim that there is a problem with a story when they clearly don't understand the point of the story in the first place.

I don't pretend to know enough about biology to complain about the realism of the Xenomorphs from the Alien movies, so why do people who don't know anything about Fascism load up the comment box for a story largely about the Equestrian government complaining about how brutal the story is?

^Because a lot of people on the internet are stupid and will complain about anything they can....which is everything.
If they don't understand what they're complaining about, they make it up as they go along.

I know, but... arrgh.

Even worse is that I made a lengthy and detailed post explaining why the content of the story makes sense and isn't overdone, and the first post made after mine... was the same unsubstantiated whining about the content of the story being overdone.

Anyways, Picassa apparently has a "Good sir, that image is far too large" restriction in place, so those awesome 100-billion-pixel vector images I talked about above can't be uploaded.

Trixie and Gilda, they have been hyped out to the point of being likeable, the show doesn't consider any character unlikeable(because they have some level of appeal),the thing about both Trixie and Gilda is that they both don't learn their lesson, being the "learning the lesson" a critical bit on character development, this aspect makes both characters unlikable but at the same time(and according to the their final bits on the episodes)they left the door open to learn their lesson, kind of Team rocket from Pokemon, they are bad,but bad in a good way, this aspect makes both characters(and specially the Trixie on TBoTS)more likeable to potential development by fans and so on.

The image provided by the creators makes me think that they are not that likeable, the projection is pretty clear, specially with Gilda at being a complete jerk.

^Try to attach it here(the image that is,and apparently you also stepped in the same problem, the blockyness of the thing once converted into vectors, even with high-res,so my thought is that probably you resorted to redraw it,which is an quite a lot of work,so props for that,I was thinking to do about the same, also cupcakes!!! I went random again)

^That Picasa thing is unfortunate, not really sure what can be done about that.

Anyway, I've made long posts before that I felt made tons of sense, but got lost among all of the pointless arguing that makes little to no sense. Sometimes it just feels like I'm arguing all by myself.

Also, as we already know, only the manliest men(....and aliens) play with My Little Pony toys.

I still don't like Gilda. Not even a little. She was a terrible person, and lost her best friend because of it.
I actually see quite a few people saying Gilda has some redeeming quality, but I'm just not seeing it. I mean, Trixie had a reason for the way she acted, but I see absolutely no good reason behind anything Gilda did.

Also, I think Trixie learned her lesson. She went a little overboard with the boasting and ended up being publicly humiliated, so she probably takes it a little easier on the boasting, it just didn't directly show her using the lesson she learned. But other than taking it a little easier on the boasting, there wasn't much of lesson to learn for Trixie since she never really did anything to directly cause what happened.

Gilda is pretty straightforward. She's just a Libby character archetype (in non-TV Tropes terms, she's a bitch, basically), and it takes unbelievably extensive amounts of fanon to justify anything she did (And even then it doesn't really work, because it always requires a justification that directly contradicts canon events. For example, there is no real way to justify what happened with Fluttershy, and every fic I've seen that tries is painful when it does).

Trixie is much more complex than Gilda was, though. All of her actions are completely open to interpretation even in the context of how they were presented, and portraying her as a straight antagonist like the episode itself basically did almost breaks the intended Aesop if you put much thought into it. It actually makes me wonder why the moral of Boast Busters didn't bother people in the same way that the moral of Feeling Pinkie Keen did.

I'll tell you this much, though: If you were to tell me last week that I would be writing big long posts attempting to defend Trixie, I'd say you were crazy.

I just watched a Modern Marvels thing about making a road using foam as a foundation. The reason I bring this up, is because the narrator read off a list of the different layers in a way that almost sounded kind of rhythmic, but when he finished off, he said "...and pavement makes it all complete".
I wish I could find a clip of the audio, because if you hear the whole thing, you would understand why this was so funny to me.

Also, it's only 11:30, but I'm tired and have to work relatively early tomorrow, so I'm off to bed.

Oh, and this:

By the way, I just saw that new image of Luna as I was uploading a few pictures on Picasa and I have to agree, it's actually depressing. Still, that pic of Sethisto (Lord of Ponies) on ED made me laugh like hell.

That one actually got yanked out of today's Drawfriends at the request of the artist, which I don't think I've ever seen happen before. Even weirder, this is the same artist who has two other images in today's Drawfriends that are still up. Its weird.

Still, that pic of Sethisto (Lord of Ponies) on ED made me laugh like hell.
I liked how he was all "look, I know you are going to Photoshop this, so at least use this higher quality version".

Oh, and ED is back to using the Ferrarity banner from yesterday. So, you know.

Edit: Official T-Shirts!? (MaybeYes!) I'm all over the Deal With It shirt

Is it just me or those are female T-shirts cuts.

and I love *Where is my pony?!* one,at my judgement the only ones actually worthy are the Rarity ones,Rainbow dash designs can be 20% cooler,Pinkie pie's design just has a ridiculous big font, the group ones are OK and the Fluttershy one and the Applejack one are kind of silly,I let slip by the Twilight design but Rarity's designs just kick ass.

Also, kind of whining from my part :sly:

Unless they make them on male L size, I won't even be able to fit a leg with those. Quite a shame, because Rarity's "Deal with it" is pure, synthesized badassness.

Yes, those are all women's shirts. And, yes, the artwork/designs on several of them are really bad. But hey, baby steps.

Edit: Apparently, in the original PonyChan thread there is confirmation that there will be men's shirts, so don't worry on that front I guess.

After seeing the T shirts I'm kind of designing one(stamped thought),Well I already designed one with Fluttershy(you are going to love me)on it but I haven't been brave enough to actually make it.Maybe I should re-evaluate my design and put Rarity on it(*starts to design Rarity T-shirt while listening "Art of the Dress"*)

I think that it will be quite complicated to get one here, unless they provide world wide shipping,I hope that's the case otherwise I might need to get one shipped(If I'm brave enough to wear a girls T-Shirt dammit)

Edit:

I certainly wasn't expecting that:

Its actually encouraging(it was also featured in ED,however I didn't saw that one)

Edit 2:

ED:
"Looks like you guys scared them off, both sets are currently unavailable now. Whether this was our fault or not is completely unknown!"

:(

Lets see if my posts go through today.

So a couple days ago (yesterday? My sense of time is shot) you caught me lurking here. You bastards. I was using your comments on TNTNE to get honest feedback since you didn't know I was watching (thanks, btw, for all the awesome comments). Now that my plan is ruined (YOU BASTARDS!) I'll stick around to actually post and chat with yall.

I'll also answer questions or whatnot, this is an easier method of communication than my DA or the EqD thread. You caught me fair and square :P.

Btw, someone named Jim-something posted a story awhile back for review. I liked the idea of it, but I think everyone else here did a good job of critiquing it so I won't drag it back up again too much.

Edit: It went through instantly, sweet. If you think I might be a troll, go check my DA.

So fist question, who are you?(silly question I'm pretty sure)

I wrote/am writing The Night That Never Ended (and also, as of tonight, a little side project.) Not sure how specific you meant for me to get there :)

edit: I'm going to bed (since I actually didn't expect this post to go through tonight, go figure) but I'll lurk throughout the day tomorrow.

I've never read your fanfic, but from what I can see, some of the others enjoy it. The last 20 or so pages have been discussions on your stuff. I might check it out to see what the fuss is all about.

Thanks, that explains the fuss that you created about two days ago, actually this is kind of a big moment so perfect timing,no one is connected.

Apart from that,I've been reading TNTNE and actually is quite good,I'm not used to read this sort of thing but I thought it was worthy, apart from that I'm pretty sure MintBerryCrunch and Toronado will be eager to chat with you.

And finally who are you? can be a deeper question than I initially thought.

Edit:

Ironically I'm about to leave before something happens (Mod wars, fan fics,BronyCray's first appearance, and today),and then I cant leave(until BF2 calls thought)

And I better read the author's names next time.

First of all, Welcome, BronyCray. I suppose I'll have to read your stuff now, since, well...You seem to have one of the most epic fics going. X3

Secondly...

I certainly wasn't expecting that:

Wow. I close my eyes, and I can actually imagine her not only singing, but on lead guitar. it's epic. Especially on that tapping solo.

I also recognize the intro, but can't name the song...uh...something from the '80s...SWEET CHILD OF MINE! Yes! that's it!

TNTNE Discussion again. And no, this has nothing to do with his greatness being in our presence, I was just crying thinking about something last night.
Right, so the scene with Rarity screaming until she appeared to die, was easily the saddest thing I've ever read, and I just feel like explaining why it was so sad compared to the other 2 death scenes.

With Spike, while I cared about him the most, his death was sudden, and you only heard about it after the fact. So even though that was sad as hell to me and actually got me to cry, the finality of it just made it easier to deal with. I mean, it's like the shock of the sudden realization, and the fact I was only hearing about it, and didn't experience it made it a little less of a hard hit.

With Soaren, well, we all saw that coming, he was showing obvious signs that he had just given up, and didn't want to go through with trying to stay alive. So it was only a matter of time. SO what happened to him was sad, but it went quickly and peacfully, so that just isn't as bad to me. I felt sorry for him, and what he caused, and the fact he chose to end his own life is sad as hell, but again, he was alone, and he went peacfully. So even though it was sad, I could deal with it pretty easily.

And now for the scene with Rarity. This one hit me hard.
The moment she started screaming I just started thinking about what could be wrong, but as she continued screaming and Applejack pleaded with her to just breath, I just couldn't hold back the tears. I'm actually getting all teary eyed just thinking about it. In the back of my head I could actually hear myself begging her not to die. Thought's like ;"Oh, Rarity no, I was upset about the way you handled the town, but I never wanted this, please don't die!" were constantly running through my head just based on what was happening. But the way it was presented through Applejack's eyes just made it feel like being hit with a ton of bricks. I mean, hearing about someone else's experience is one thing, but actually feeling as if you're there kneeling over your best friend as they scream, with you begging them to just stop and breathe....I can't even describe the feeling. But all of the other death scenes you either heard about it from the first person, or after the fact, but actually feeling as if you were there, trying helplessly to save your best friend, you're only close friend from this universe, just brought on such intense emotions that I can't even think about it again without crying.

The moment you find out she only passed out though just made me so god damn happy. I didn't feel like was being told a story, I felt like I was Applejack through that whole scene. No other story, movie, or any type of media has been able to make me feel that way before.

Don't worry, you'll get honest feedback on your story regardless of whether you're lurking here or not.

TNTNE Discussion again. And no, this has nothing to do with his greatness being in our presence, I was just crying thinking about something last night.

That part with Rarity hit me pretty hard as well, it just came out of the blue. The main reason why this scene affected me has something to do with the fact that she's one of the Mane Six, so when I thought that one of the key characters in the actual program (and story for that matter) had died, it was quite a hard hitting moment.

On top of that, the amount of detail that went into describing what happened, plus the fact that Applejack was the only pony witnessing it first hand, also helped to make it far more emotional than that of the other actual deaths prior to this moment in the story. The scene also felt harrowing as it it seemed like Rarity was suffering a great amount when she was screaming.

It seems after I went to bed, the comments for The Sun is Tired turned into a long, rambling call for blood against one of the characters. Which is actually king of ironic considering the point of the story is a criticism of such fanatic mob mentality (Or perhaps the intended reaction the author was going for... What better way to explain an emotion you are using in the story than to elicit it from the reader?).

Of course, I personally wrote that I hope the character in question gets exploded twice, so perhaps I'm reading to much into it and am simply a giant hypocrite.

I certainly wasn't expecting that:

I don't really like that one. It seems like a victim of the loudness war, and its overdone in places.

I prefer this one:

Though I will give the metal cover props for working the vocals in.

I finally finished it...

Of course not.

I kid, I kid.

Right, so the scene with Rarity screaming until she appeared to die, was easily the saddest thing I've ever read, and I just feel like explaining why it was so sad compared to the other 2 death scenes.
What about Spitfire? I only ask because that is the one that basically ruined my entire day. Everything about it bothered me. And made me legitimately cry, as loathe as I am to admit it.

Spike's death had no effect on me, actually, because I was reasonably sure that it was a fake out at the time that it happened. And when I was made aware that I was wrong about that on the comments page, it still didn't really bother me. Never been able to understand why, either.

Soaren's death itself didn't have as much of an effect on me as the scenes leading up to it. I took greater impact from him coming to the realization of his actions and thoughts than I did from the actual deed itself. The tragic irony of it all is what got to me.
Though I will admit that the scene where Rarity became aware of just what happened and her role in it shook me a bit.

That isn't to say that I wasn't worried for Rarity, because when Super Bitch started describing her plan as "I’ve just effectively removed the strongest defenses of New Ponyville, as well as their leadership," my blood turned to ice.
But as soon as it became clear that Rarity was being attacked some how, I immediately came to the conclusion that all unicorns in the village were being attacked rather than just her (because the effects were similar to what was happening to Super Bitch and her squad). And for some reason, the realization that Twilight was also going through the same thing made me stop worrying about the possibility that Rarity was going to die.

And yes, I recognize what a terrible idea it is to explain the processes that I use to justify my thoughts now that BronyCray is following this thread officially.

In other, happier news: New TBoTS is up. Plus an update to that straight-shipping story that I'm still unbelievably embarrassed to be reading.

Done, finally...
My first TNTNE fan art.

...The captain glared the lieutenant down, but couldn’t contain a small guffaw. After a moment both ponies broke into a fit of laughter, the captain placing a wing around her friend. “Lieutenant, you’ve been my second in command for nearly a year now, I hardly consider you as being under my orders even when we are on duty. Come on, I’ll help you set up the damn tents.”
