Cutie Mark Failure Insanity Syndrome.



Basically, they find that they are unable to meet the expectations they put on themselves by what they Cutie Marks are supposed to represent and how they got them, and they snap trying to solve it. "The Ponies in this town are all crazy," etc. Arguably happened to Luna and Trixie as well. There is an image for it on Ponibooru, but it doesn't explain it quite right (putting far too much credence on the specific actions involved rather than the base concept).

That was basically what Pony Psychological was about, though that put a lot of weight on what it meant to be the bearers of the Elements of Harmony as well.

Fluttershy pic.

Don't really care for her. Don't get me wrong: Do mean stuff to Fluttershy, and I'll tear you a new one; and when she gets into one of her "beware the nice ones" phases I love her. But most of the time I actually just find her kind of annoying.

I don't find Fluttershy annoying, after all, she serve as a "contrast" character to highlight some of the characteristics of other characters, and she serves to complete the personality spectrum(for stereotypical that she might be), I agree in the parts that she seem flat, but there is actually a bit more deep to her personality(assisted by Angel bunny and Philomena, for funny and dry that the episodes were, they show some aspects of Fluttershy's personality).

Pony psychological is a hardcore version of the Grand Galloping Gala approach to each character(however PP is actually more deep and more adult, however I disagree in some aspects and approaches for each character on it), one aspect of Fluttershy is that she serves as fan service, and I do believe that the right approach to her true personality was accurately depicted in PP, than in the series.

Having said that, the problem with Fluttershy is not her flatness, but rather her generic personality, which serves mainly for fan-service, however this aspect should not create the false assumption that she isn't necessary for the development and contrast of the other characters.

@T-Squared Your car is actually pretty cool, the kind of cool that I want to purchase, seriously I always wanted one of those, and the cuttie mark makes it even more desirable.

And the only time I really didn't like her was when she flipped out at the end of Best Night Ever. It was funny, but it just didn't feel right to me. The time she used the stare on the Dragon and Cockatrice were awesome, but that only felt right to me because she was doing it to help her friends. But in The Best Night Ever she was doing it purely for selfish reasons, and Fluttershy being selfish just doesn't feel right.

EDIT: Come to think of it, that directly contradicts her element.

The purpose of individual goals will always be related to selfishness, regardless of the personality is a common humanmare condition.

Well I guess you are right, actually no, there are some bits on the grand galloping gala that can be exploited, but as I said before she is to damn simple and its very unlikely that she could accomplish a full planted personality because of her stereotype.

I'm pretty sure I can come up with something better than that but my head is trashed today, tomorrow it seems that it will be a tough day, and I really need this sleep, it was getting interesting because the topic was taking ground towards Pinkie Pie territory, which I sort of wanted to cover over here, maybe tomorrow I will come up with something better.

But I just spent the last hour doing the test over and over again for Miss Spelling and I finally did it.

And I'm not entirely sure I got her title right, but it's close enough.

She's basically the babysitter to the entire production from start to finish, which is probably why she can come off as slightly sour and tired.

I don't really find her annoying, but I do find it difficult to write for her since she's canonically such a wallflower. It's like I want her to participate more in the story, but she's too shy to do so!

Also I bloody love that Miss Spelling poster, I wish I could draw my OC ponies. It'd help tonnes with envisioning them. No offense to artists, but you can only draw what I describe, not the image in my head. Well, I can't either, so it's locked in and crying for now. Poor Sharps and Cassandra...and Velvet Storm..and Marshal, bugger, I have tonnes of these to draw!

You could always do a session where you're actually working with the artist as he or she is drawing. For example, when I'm drawing my friend's characters, we usually go on Skype since it lets her see my Photoshop screen. From there, I just start sketching as she's explaining what's right and what's wrong with the details; it usually works pretty well.

I am overflowing with jelly. And I agree, you should just start insulting every non-cutie-marked car.
