Aw that's too bad... also, doesn't that seem like a bad sign? As in the network is cutting down funding for the usual 26 episode season? Unless they're hopefully doing like two 13 episode seasons a year but just more spread out...?

I don't really know, we'll see. Hopefully they will.

I wouldn't be pessimistic about it. The next season may be half the size of the first 2, but I'm sure the episodes will be as good as ever. They might do a forth season with 13 episodes not long after season 3 ends, or revert back to the 26 episode format. We don't have that info yet.

That repost is unacceptable, you hear? Unacceptable!

And there has been plenty of Rarity uploaded today. But there's no such thing as enough.

I think I saw one that was culled a couple of weeks ago. Can't remember what it was though, or why I ended up looking at it. What were some of the stories in question?

Speaking of fics, A Delicate Balance updated on Friday evening but I was out most of the night, and I ended up falling asleep at 2AM... then waking up at 7AM (that wasn't my intention). Anyway, I read the newest part earlier, and it's definitely the one currently active fic I look forward to reading each time there's an update. The end of the latest part added even more tension.

Yeah, I know a few authors who've wandered away. Eh, at least new ones fill the gaps.

It's just not the same, though. Not a patch on the skill of newer writers and stories, and I'm glad that some of the "oldbies" still do have a lot of output (even if it tends to be unfairly overshadowed, I feel), but I can't help but miss guys like Jetfire and stories like Common Sky.

I've never seen anything like it...

Not since the late 90s.

Now that I think about it, there are only 3 stories I still read today that started in 2011, and one of which is a sequel that started a few months ago (Pony Psychology).

And I should add that I look forward to reading the PPS sequel almost as much as I look forward to reading A Delicate Balance these days.

Google Translate sucks at times, so I'd like Andres to correctly translate that.

I never did read much, but those few that I did seem to have given up, or are lazy like Ed. So I kinda got bored of writing, too.

Thankfully this fandom moves on, so my dA is silently collecting dust now.

Ed will get the next part of the Ballad done before the final MLP episode of season 3 airs, and A lot Like You will continue by the time hover boards become a reality.

I'm also allergic to dust, so I'll avoid your DA from now on.

I agree; when I first joined the fandom seven months ago, I went on something of a fanfiction binge during the break in season 2 - and most of the stories that I read were by authors who simply don't post anymore. And in fact, there're a ton of them that I started reading that I know now will never finish; On Feathered Wings and With a Heavy Heart being two particularly notable examples of such fics.

There is a considerable amount of new talent, though. I mean, my favourite fic of all time ever finished merely a few weeks ago, and I'm currently chugging through an immense backlog of fics that were released over this summer alone - and while we've pretty much seen the back of many of the authors responsible for last year's fanfiction goldmines, we've gained so many great new fics in the last few weeks alone that my downloads folder is now a bloated mess of .txt files and PDF documents.

That's not to say that they're ALL of the same quality as the likes of Common Sky or AVery's old stuff, but sift through enough and you'll find some real gems. I suppose that the great fics aren't as visible now due to the prevalence of pony fanfiction specialised sites such as FIMFiction, but there isn't any less of them than there used to be; it's just that the good stuff, nowadays, is unfortunately less visible - and the big names bowing out of the scene entirely doesn't help matters at all.
