Can you tell us more about this load cell, and why do you like it?

With this mod your G27 brake pedal works the same way the Clubsport pedal from Fanatec works. Its a nice upgrade and makes the perfect wheel together with the G27. Trust me, a lot of people here in Germany use some sort of load cell for their G25/G27:)

Belt > Gears.

Don't know why some people are so sold on G25/G27. When I got my G27 I was excited to see what logitech improved mechanically.. then I took it apart and they did nothing but go from straight cut to helical lol... they could have made it so much better. They are old now. I want more belt alternatives.

And can someone explain to me why the body of this wheel is so big?
Wheels with a longer base usually have a better wheel rotating system.
Take for example one of the high-end wheels used only by serious PC sim racers, the FREX:

In smoothness I agree Belt>gear but helical gears are quieter and seems to have less resistance as well you feel the ffb motor more directly while the belt muffs the feel some. Which is probably why Fanatec adds motors just for rumble. Overall I still prefer G27 helicial gears over Fanatec wheels but not by much.
Now i haven't experience that ECCI wheel nor this wheel but ISR said ECCI FFB is leaps ahead of both the much cheaper Fanatec and Logitech wheels.

The resistance most probably comes from gearing. The G25/G27 have two small motors with small pinions making contact with 1 large gear (the wheel).

Warning;
If you have kids at home keep them away from the wheel.
I see broken fingers or worse

It's just a R&D video..testing FFB through a software in extreme settings and most likely at maximum output. It will never get close to this in game (hopefully).

I wish People would learn that the G27 IS NOT A G25, Yeah we get it the G25 can get off on the DFGT Profile. WOOPDEDADADOOOOOO!

1) The G25 is no longer in production and is virtually impossible to find new out in the Wild.
2) The DFGT Profile (As with the rest of the Profiles), DO NOT WORK with the G27.

Oh well I might have to think hard on whether to return the G27 and get the 500RS or not? I wish PD would flippn' fix this, but I'd guess they'd rather sell me a 500$+ Wheel WITH OUT AN H-Shifter instead.

The real kicker is that the G27 DOESN'T EVEN WORK WITH THE 360. :grumpy:

Didn't Thrustmaster advertise it to be "a steering wheel that not everyone can get their hands on" with a 16+ label? Maybe it's really that dangerous, after all it's a wheel with fixed paddles and a 65W motor for FFB.

Im not sure(I think you typed 25 instead of 27?) about that because it is most useful for me to just map the RA function to the controller, this is for both the G25 and G27. But as for the jump from GT5p to GT5 concerning the G27- this is the ludicrous statement Dev made- I think more buttons work on the shifter, at least without trying to figure out which buttons on DFGT screen match up to the G27's actual buttons. If that isn't correct, my bad, but from when I first hooked up the G27 to the 2 games, again, this is if my memory serves me correctly, more things work in GT5 rather than GT5p.

Besides the buttons, sequential shifting can happen in GT5 and that wasn't possible in Prologue. This rendered the F2007 about useless and made many other cars very unrealistic to drive- because they have flappy paddles in real life. Nonetheless, the G27 is much more useful in GT5 than in GT5p.

For clarification, I enjoy driving, not button pushing. This means that if a wheel can perform better when it comes to actual driving then it is more useful. Also, the RA function is good for two things: brake balance, which only needs to be adjusted during a race under circumstances of extreme tire wear difference between the front and rear, and using TC as a launch control, also only needed in rare circumstances.

In GT5 the L3 and R3 buttons on the shifter (outside red ones) don't work. Also the bottom 4 red button on the wheel don't work (in GT5P they all did what the top button two buttons did but at least they did something).

And it's great you like mapping your RA menu to the controller but it's not what everyone would prefer and in no way means the wheel isn't broken for not supporting it. I mean you can program the RA menu into the G25 button fine, but try the same on the G27 and no...

Yes it's nice that the rev lights work but hardly a tradeoff for the actual lost functionality elsewhere.

What it ultimately boils down to and looks like is that PD knows the G25 is discountinued so don't mind fully supporting it but the G27 is still out there and being sold and PD wants doesn't want to a make it as good as their official wheel as they udoubtably share in the profits from the official wheel.

How about before you go calling peoples statements ludicrus you actually bother to study up on the subject and not try to write off shortcomings just because you personally don't mind those shortcomings?

That's more money than I spent on the Thrustmaster Warthog.

TM is out of their ****king minds, and so is Kaz for essentially endorsing this product.

For that price, I would just go Frex and stick with PC sims. Heck, for the price of this TM wheel/pedal combo, one could pick up a G27 and an Obutto or Playseat cockpit. I saw the G27 on sale online last week for $189.00 (or thereabouts).

Still surprised no one has asked this yet, but where the hell did you see a G27 for $189.

Lowest I've seen since the logitech sale almost 2 months ago is $269

I guess Thrustmaster wasn't playing when they rated the wheel 16+, this thing will cut your fingers off if not handled with care (i love it )

@ Dev- Ok, just ignore the sequential shifting. I literally laughed at your statement. Thus, it was, and still is, ludicrous. The G27 does more things that concern driving in GT5 than in GT5p, that is not disputable. As for the buttons, I can look in reverse, turn off ghost, use wipers, and turn on high beams without remapping any buttons. Again, more things work in GT5 than in GT5p.
And saying that 3 buttons do the same thing is more functional than 1 button is just as laughable as your original statement.

Are you intentionally ignoring the context?

The question was will G27 ever be fully supported and the answer was that due to the things that don't work in GT5 that did work in GT5P it's pretty obvious the differences were intentional nerfing, not just a lack of development which would be resolved with more dev time.

The wheel feels better but that's not a G27 issue, it's an overall FFB improvement issue. All the wheels feel better, even my DFP feels better.

The buttons that were duplicates in GT5P and now plain don't work are an obvious sign that something was directly changed and not for the better.

The button layout is not a question of functionality, the buttons work or don't. What you program them to do is up to personal taste and if the default layout suits, you great, I personally changed a lot of it around becuase things like wiper control are pointless. However what's not a matter of personal taste is whether RA menu POSSIBLY works. That's a difference between preference and functional.

The tach lights and the paddle shifters work which is a sign that work was done on the G27 making it impossible to argue that the G27 wasn't paid attention to.

It's looking pretty likely that the G27 is what it is through choice and not by accident.

If you want to talk ludicrus, people who think somehow making a completely off topic comment is valuable... that's truly laughable.

How can you admit two major functions of the G27 now work in GT5 that didn't work in prologue and say it worked better before? Are you serious or just trolling?

500 Euro for a mainstream steering wheel? Are they mad? Did you see the wrap of the wheel, did you hear the noise of the gears? There is Driving Force GT for less than 100 Euro available and is great and all that dead zone nonsense from Inside Sim Racing reviewers, do those guys actually know what a dead zone is? The car reacts to any mm of the DFGT rotation, so no deadzone at all, if the wheel is moving easily in the center zone it is realisitic as there is a small portion depending on the speed of the car where the road is not affecting as directly and brutally the wheels/steering which is the CENTER. I already lost credibility in ISR when they gave a lot of credit to some games that do not deserve it, but this thing with the deadzone is just ridiculous.

The paddle shifters work and the tach lights work, however we now 4 wheel buttons and 2 shifter buttons have been completely turned off. Look at the context, it's about full support, not about what function you are happy it now does. I absolutely agree paddle shifters were REALLY important, I don't find the tach lights useful or impmortant at all but it's good they are there, but in terms of what works on the wheel vs what doesn't there are things nerfed on the wheel that weren't in GT5P.

And again, back to the context, do you think the current G27 implimentation suggests it will ever be fully supported? Especially in the face of the upcoming wheel?

It does everything I want now, it really doesn't concern me. As for the jump from prologue to GT5, I was very worried about my flappy paddles!

As for the 4 useless buttons on the wheel, they were useless in prologue. Next, the two buttons on the shifter: I think they do work sometimes because sometimes my wipers come on I don't know why, but that may be one of the wheel buttons, which means only 3 useless buttons.

Nonetheless, the G27 works better, and has more functionality in GT5 than in prologue. And I laughed when you said the opposite.

Uhhh... How are you using your wipers with the G27 without remapping?

I have pressed every button on my G27 and the wipers have never come on neither has the horn. And when it rains the wipers come on automatically.

Oh yeah, I can honk the horn too! My wipers were on during the GTAcademy, and it doesn't rain, and it was Visible they were on in my replay. I'll do some investigating, but it has happened a few times. Horns, high beams, and wipers have all worked at some point or another.

600 bucks.. eh.. IDK what's worse, saying goodbye to that amount of money, or feeling embarrassed with not just with other's but with your self for the fact that you bought a wheel for the same price as a launch PS3.

For all that are complaining about price, just wait a month or so and the price will drop. These will be all over eBay within 3-4 months, and those not wanting to wait should be able to get great deals on used DF wheels from those that are early adopters of the TM wheel.

I bet we will all benefit from a forcefeedback patch.
The rumble strips dont, eh rumble. The forcefeed back is just a centre spring effect.

I'm sure thrustmaster( which sounds like a sex toy btw ) will want a better feel than what the game currently provides.
