This wheel is way too expensive, and without an H pattern shifter?! Come on! Where I live - Slovenia, by the way, but I expect nobody knows where that is - you can buy for same amount of money (around 500 euros) an old BMW 5 series (e34). Forget the MOT, just weld the rear diff and use it for drifting on back roads. That's worth 500 euros in my opinion. TM's wheel isn't, no matter how much better is than DFGT or even G25.

They are not. No MOT, just gas. I bought the bimmer for 450 euros, drove it like a maniac for couple of months than pass it on to a friend for 200 euros.

You can buy the same in Croatia, but it is not to be compared.

You can't drive GT5 with the BMW ;)

And I'm really annoyed about this "it is expensive" talk, that wheel costs less than iPhone (without sub of course).

To each his own. I like BMW, some want the I-Phone, and others TM wheel.

I just want to say that while TM wheel will cost almost 3 times more than DFGT will it really be 3 times better? And I don't mean the fancy trim but driving experience. DFGT - I can't comment G25 as don't have it - has it's faults (flimsy shifter and pedals, dead zone in the center) but it is OK even for hardcore gamers. How much better can TM wheel be?

I had DFP for years (2004-2007) and than tried G25. Was amazed, sold DPF the same day and went G25.

Today I have G25 and have just bought Fanatec GT3RS Clubsport (also around 450 euros for the whole package).

I payed G25 around 350 euros back in 2007 so I managed to buy myself a new wheel, no real problems there. Never seriously considered DFGT (although I used for for one week in Prologue for testing purposes) because pedals are just too simple.

As for Fanatec Clubsport being better than G25 - it is. Even if only pedals are to compare, Fanatec wins.

Now onto T500R. I can't judge it since I haven't try it, but from what I've seen, it seems we have a very, very serious product in the perspective.

Built quality looks great, 150Nm of torque is crazy, while 65000 frequency certainly raises some eyebrows. Same goes with pedals.

I can't say is this wheel really that good, but if it turns out it's even marginally better than Fanatec Clusbsport GT3RS, than it is good to justify the price.

Simple.

I'm with you on the "it is expensive" talk. I don't get it when people say they would prefer to buy an old car that they will likely scrap in the near future for the same money. This wheel will allow almost limitless amount of fun on many cars, tracks and games on PC and PS3 all for less than the price of one good track day. This is not as expensive as the ECCI wheels that are over $2000 that don't even have pedal set I believe. This wheel has more technological features than most wheels out.

I think it is a good price for the wheel if it is better than the competition by enough margin to justify the price. Not only that but you get a high-end wheel officially supported by GT5 (Easy access to buttons too), and by the spec list, it seems likely to be a very durable wheel and good for drifting.

In car terms, this is the difference between Maybach and an S-Class. Although they have similar features and perform well, is it worth more than twice the price for that little bit of extra quality and detail? I know this is an extreme example but if you compare the wheel prices the T500RS is just over twice the price of the G27 if you also buy an addon shifter. The wheel comparatively is only the cost of a good mid-range laptop or high-end phone. If anyone does any type of real life racing, even if casual go-karting, they will most likely spend at least more than this wheel in a month or less. The same goes for buying a cheap car as insurance, maintenance and fuel costs a lot more a week than electricity for the wheel, ps3, tv, and internet for a year.

For me I'll wait until the reviews, to see if it justifys the price and if it does then like any quality things, it is cheap relatively as you are getting what you paid extra for.

Get off your high horses. Who are you to tell people it's not expensive.
 
I am just saying it is not expensive when put into perspective or context.

And I am not "saying to people", I just find it actually justifies its price contextually.

I'm french and know well your beautiful Country. Some Roads there are great training for gt5:tup:
I think the T 500 RS is expensive, but has the potential to surprise us with it feeling. The power of this wheel can give us fineness and speed, and that could make the difference.
I'm simmer ( Iracing, GT5, Rfactor), and the great new is it will be PC compatible 👍
i have a thrusmaster hotas cougar for flight sims and can tell you that when they want, thrusmaster is able to make great products !

No, also wrong :)

I would also like it is cheaper, but it is not realistic to expect that from such product.

It is just that general stance about price is negative per-se, while it is in fact very good and decent price hardware-wise.
 
The point is not to tell it's not expensive for a wheel, it is. Let's just wait until some get their hands on it, see how justified or not the price is.
As for apparent build quality it looks great, specs too. My G25 is getting old, if this one is worth ill consider it seriously. You keep your wheel for years and for many racing sims (i want to hear about pc compatibility though).
There will be now a whole range of wheel from 100 to 500 Euros, if GT5 gets the higher end mainstream wheel as an official i think it's really great for GT. Again it shows PD dedication to push GT further into sim.

Being a wheel made specifically for GT5, I very highly doubt it. Kinda throws me a curve ball concerning the new NASCAR game coming out in February. I'd like to get it for the Xbox, but I'd like to have a G27 or T500 for both NASCAR '11 and GT5.

The product from the begining has been aimed at the more serious enthusiast. Its not meant to be "Mass Market" thats what the DF-GT is. Talk of this product failing, is premature and comes as ignorance to the fact that many people will be willing to buy this if its performance warrants it and it produces the best driving experience in GT 5.

This wheel is described and backed by the CEO of Polphony Digital as being the highest end product to support the game. We do not yet know if this will allow more tuning options within the games menus specific for this wheel but judging by the much more powerful FFB motor and the quality brakes it is possible from a "Driving Experience" this wheel could be the best wheel to play GT5 with and thats the intention of the product. The "H Shifter" is likely to also get full support as will the "Clutch". This is what people seem to be missing is a major purpose and be

Of course we have to be fully aware of what marketing blurb is and be realistic but at the same time we have what seems if nothing else some quite substantial pedals and components in this product that go beyond the Logitech/Fanatec models.

Regardless of many of the advantages a Fanatec wheel may have in "Features" as an all out product particulary its ability to offer user adjustable tuning. What will be of interest to many is how the Thrustmaster feels in comparison and just how it will enchance the gameplay.

It will all come down to how the product is received and reviewed , it could be great but also flawed which will need verified before if its deemed "worth the money".

Which is sad, because money talks. Kaz could easily allow the G27/G25 to do everything needed outside of hardware limitations (rotation degrees, level of FFB) that the thrustmaster will do. Kaz has simply made a business deal to work with thrustmaster over logitech and thus, has not to date patched the issues with the G27. Logitech support has firmly said it's up to the devs on how much support and functionality the G27 will have, it's software based. Kaz has promised future support for the G27/G25 but I'm not holding my breath.

No you just need to stop winding and stirring things.
Other games do NOT have specifically made and endorsed wheels, thats what you fail to see as the difference. Its no different to Fanatec doing a deal with T10 & FM3 with the PWTS at the time.

Logitech in the past previously also developed two or was it three "Official GT Steering Wheels" if Im not mistaken?

The G25/G27 and Fanatec have never been officially supported and likely never will due to whatever may be in the legal/contract agreements between Polphony Digital / Thrustmaster & Logitech.

They dont force you to buy only the official licensced product(s)
You dont even have to buy the game.

However when they enter "Business" relationship with whoever/whatever product(s) and licensce those products then "Those Products" will of course have benefits.

Welcome to the world of business.

Are you 13 or something and going to go on a huff now, lol.

Look its simple, the products NEVER were listed as being supported and unlike Microsoft which uses a unified set of requirements to all controllers and how their licensing works with X360. The rules are different with PS3 and developers of PS3 games can decide what wheels/hardware to support to their choosing.

G25/G27 owners have no right to moan (i am one) but show me ANYWHERE where Logitech or Polphopny Digital listed the G25/G27 as being supported? If anything we were lucky that the limited support in the game does what it does. Why should manufacturers of controllers have to pay huge amounts of money or royalties to become a licensced PS3 controller. G25/G27 are not PS3 licensced products, pay no such royalties. So we are lucky that they work at all. Its not just a GT5 issue but also a Sony licenscing issue as well.

No point going around huffing and stumping your feet that a product never guranteed to work with the game actually doesnt fully work with the game. Technically possible doesnt come into it, the situation is how it is.

Iracing is a lot more expensive than GT5 yet no doubt GT5 cost more to develop. Why does Iracing cost so much even with less tracks and cars than GT5 ? Simple, there are less people buying and racing on Iracing (hasn't even reach 100,000 consumers yet) than those who bought GT5. The large GT sales allows the production cost to be spread out.

This is the same with any product including wheels. The better quality the wheel is the higher the cost which means less sales which in turn means each consumer pays even more for production cost thus even higher price tag.

So will this wheel be three time better than g27 which you could get for $200? I seriously doubt it. It's probably more likely to be something like 50% better performance.
 
It will work with GT5 100%.

It may never ever work with any other game or system but you couldn't moan apparently because it's stated to work with one game.

We already know for fact that DFGT can work with other games including PC so what make you think it will be different with this wheel? Now when DFGT first came out it was not fully supported on the PC until a few months later when Logitech update it's PC profiler.

Yes, we can all agree that what PD and Thrustmaster wants to do, is up to them. It was a business decision by PD to become partners with Thrustmaster. G25/G27 owners have no right to complain, because nothing was promised, agreed.

The issue that G25/G27 owners have is that Kaz and PD could outright support these wheels and satisfy their loyal followers who have surely purchased a wheel long before GT5 came out. Choosing to endorse one wheel is not the problem, but to do so and not offer support for a large share of the market because you have a partnership shows PD is not empathetic to their fan base. Do they have to be empathetic? No. But a developer who is enthusiastic about racing should want the experience to exist across a broad spectrum by choosing to support most wheels (at least the latest models, not all).

Again, please don't take this as me complaining, I'm just trying to convey what most people here are probably thinking. They know they were not promised support but to think that PD as a developer would choose to not support certain wheels because of a partnership, just comes off as a slight to the fan base who supports their product and is the sole reason they're even allowed to have made five sequels to this point.

Now that that's out of the way, Kaz has said he would offer future support for the G25/G27 wheels :)

Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi has answered questions and concerns from players via Twitter.

In an update this month, a "mechanical damage" option will be added to the game. Upcoming "My Lounge" features will be added, but the game's studio, Polyphony Digital, is doing them sequentially. Another thing the developers are adding in the near future is some kind of no heads-up display option as well as working on support for other racing wheels like the Logitech G25 and the G27.

Not saying it won't. But because the situation seems to be arising that a game brand endorces a specific wheel. This wheel in future may not work with another game which endources brand x
