You guys do know that Jan 1st does not mean 12:01 AM EST or whatever timezone you may be in right?

It means somewhere within the 24 hour window that follows in whatever timezone they are using

The Merc VGT seasonal is open until the 2nd (can't register time though), which brings them in line with GT5 seasonal updates.

So I would think about 20 hours from now.

I wonder why PD waits for EVERYONE to be on 1 January instead of releasing the content when it becomes 1 January in Japan so that everyone doesn't have to wait.... That is where PD is headquartered right so why would they not follow their own time?

PD don't want to be at work at midnight because Kaz is a werewolf. Or they simply would rather not work on new years eve.

And they are following their own time, as in, it will be updated at the time of their choice.

My guess would be that it may come as part of the update with the seasonals which is slated to be at 10:00 PM EST today, If you look in notifications and look at the details for update 1.02 it tells you when the next seasonals go live in your area. For this part of the world it is Jan 1 but for others it will be Jan 2 due to time zone differences

I assume its going to be a game patch as if it was time limit locked, it would have opened up as soon as 00:00 clocked on 1st Jan 2014

Not necessarily. You could compare it to the time on a server.
The mechanics of it are already there in the seasonal events that begin and end at a specific time.
This would've allowed the dialog to say the exact time the event opens.

So there's no excuse for not having the content there on time. And it's definitly not on time as it is. But that's PD for you, they do promise a lot.

tl;dr It's going down at 3am GMT 2Jan, i.e. 2hr7min from now, it was posted about in a few places but a bunch of people never finished the full series of Dr. Seuss books obviously.

It's still 1Jan according to the dirty Americans so PD is kind of off the hook I guess
