Also, when did Comedy Central become the "repeat the same shows over and over again in a order so we go through the entire series in two weeks" channel? Nothing but That 70s Show and The Office 90% of the time. They're not even trying. They have so much random stuff to pull from that they could put a different show on every half hour. Remember Upright Citizens Brigade? TirggerHappy TV? Put on reruns of that stuff. Crank Yankers. Why not?

Okay, I don't get the fascination with anime, I mean, "The AE86 Trueno is the best car ever made"..."What do you mean it's a Toyota?"..."Oh, well I just know it from Initial D."

But that's really an aside to the main reason for posting, and not all that important but to establish my perspective somewhat.

What I really don't get is grown ass men's infatuation with scantily-clad cartoon Asian schoolgirls; that creep factor. I mean...

Surely I'm not alone here.

Ah, so it's actual straw being loaded on a camel. I forgot about that part since "the last straw" is used so much on its own.

"….grown ass men…?'
Where are you getting those stats, tiger? :dopey:
Okay, so my own frustration and befuddlement may have come through a bit with that, but I have indeed observed bona fide adult males displaying a significant enough degree of interest in the subject matter. I don't know that the individual whose avatar sparked this necessarily fits the bill.

Is the last straw thing referring to straws you use for drinking or the stuff in farmer's mouths?
It's the one that broke the camel's back.
This. An individual piece of straw is pretty benign and carrying it wouldn't be a significant burden, but it adds up. Indeed, the "straw" in this instance wasn't anything worth noting, but I've observed it enough to ponder the skeevy implications.

Have you cross-checked their profiles for ages? I would assume most are under 25 and others over that age have been long time fans. I'm 29 and while not an avid anime fan I watched and loved a few good ones back when Toonami showed them. I don't like the typical stuff but I can see how easy the rabbit hole is to fall into.

No I haven't gone beyond seeing their avatar at the top of their posts. As I indicated, it isn't so much the cartoon bit (I myself still get a kick out of Loony Tunes and Hanna-Barbera) that I'm referring to, but rather the pervy stuff (even before it gets downright pornographic).

That's par for the course in terms of how most anime characters look. I don't think they pick those characters for those reasons so much as the odds of what they pick is likely going to look like that anyway :P

I would like to invite you to our High School. I have a classmate there who has a wife. An anime wife. I couldn't imagine what would you do with him!:lol:

What really freaks me out, is not that some people really like animes, is the liking of these "THICC" surreal anime drawings.

What the 'heck' did I just throw at my search engine?! :scared:

Serves me right for being nosey.
Protip1: Don't Google image search unless you have some idea what might show up.

Protip1a: Even if you have an idea what might show up, still expect some porn.

Heaven forbid you find yourself on one of those websites.

That said, there is a member on here that annoys me/makes me uncomfortable with their infatuation with anthropomorphic personifications of inanimate objects.

What's more annoying are the people who decide to cherry-pick the posts made by other people and discard the rest of their argument.

I didn't even search 'images' ! :nervous:
Just a casual text web search curious about 'THICC' that brought me thumbnails to inform me that I was quite ignorant about a fat slice of anime.

There is a small selection of anime graphic novels in my collection of graphic novels, so I had a right to be curious, no?

Sorry mate, I didn't want to freak you out, but I just wanted to say that those kind of animes really annoy me.

Could be worse. We get (on comedy central) reruns of friends.

Me neither.
Surely I'm not alone here.
Nope, I personally don't like any form of Japanese animation. I can remember watching Pokemon when I was a small child and I just did not care for it. (I still don't)

The main reason I never cared for any of them was mainly because of it's style of animation, I just never have been a fan of it.

Fun fact: Friends is never not on in some part of the world. I Love Lucy and The Simpsons are also on that list.

I'm not so sure about The Simpson's as Fox has never done much with it syndication wise. Seinfeld however probably belongs on the list.

To be frank, I'm just going by my best recollection of a list I saw several years ago. I do seem to recall Seinfeld, and I believe M*A*S*H was on it as well.

Edit: It also may well have been a list of the most syndicated shows, with just a handful being "never not on."

I don't make a habit of watching anime because I don't really watch shows or movies, but I appreciate the style in videogames and things. Its sharp, attractive aesthetic is very appealing to me, much more than the blunt or rounded styles and designs more common in the west. Anime also tends to do a lot more to convey action and a realistic sense of space, and it covers things I enjoy that you don't really get elsewhere, like mecha or cars.

The honest truth is that it's got a "cool" factor that's rare in the rest of the world of animation.

None needed - I was just hooling around. :dopey:
In any case it's impossible to have the name 'Nuvolari' and bug me. :sly:
And after all - learn something new everyday; good to know a little about everything.
My first exposure to anime was Sailor Moon - forced to watch with my daughter or else, etc. But while the art itself is fascinating (especially to a student of Art) the story lines, characters, culture, in fact 'anime world', is a complex and unique phenomenon - in the disciplines of both Art and Metaphor.
Add digital effects and it's an entire universe.
Much, much later after my breathless episodes with Sailor Moon I stumbled into a copy of Dragon Ball and was captured right away by Son Goku and Bulma. And then along comes Kame-Sen'nin an Kuririn to seal the deal.
I'm an avid comic book fan so manga and anime was not far off the beaten path for me.
I have a whole mess of comics, comic-book anthologies, graphic novels of all sorts, a mountain of Archie, etc.

I'm also extremely broad-minded IRL - and I attempt to be that here too. To each their own.
Obviously we all have our pet peeves, irritations, and morals in one form or another, it's as natural as our upbringing.

Broadcast pre-shows.

If it is broadcast, then it's part of the show. Regardless if it is before the 'official' ceremonial beginning of proceedings.
