With ACC coming in month to Consoles. I think it's save to say, that this game is pretty much done. ACC looks to be a good game. I think the console, very 1st and true Sim Racing game.

I won't be buying it because I'm not interested in GT3 cars - I prefer historics.

A lot of people do like GT3's, but I think the deciding factor will be pad implementation - that needs to be good to get high sales on console. A lot of people didn't like it on AC so it will need to have improved a lot in the new game.

Yea I agree with you, but I will still be playing PC2 until a PC3 comes out if it does.
I will be looking to race in formula cars , group c1, GT1, some vintage cars, some LMP cars & maybe try the WRX cars bar that the rest doesn't interest me at all .
Once ACC comes out I will focus on trying to be more consistent & enjoy it from day one

Why not play both?

I mean I'm not even going to drop AC when ACC comes out, given the different content and tracks all three offer, why would I?

I presume you are trolling, but ACC has been out for a year on PC and hasn't had any effect on numbers playing PC2 on steam. I still can't quite believe ACC will run on an XBox1 but time will tell. Maybe the UE4 engine is better optimised for consoles than it is for PC. Maybe they are happy to run it at 30 fps

Confirmed it won't have AI Online, so filling online grids out is not possible, already hard enough to get full grids on console in other games as it is, every racing game in the last 5 years has had AI online as standard. Also looks like it may even be low car grids in offline mode too. UDP data most likely will not be in it either as a developer swerved that question on the official forum. Really weird AI Online isn't even in the PC version of the game, its a basic at this point.
It will be yet another gimped cash grab by Kunos on the console.

Confused which console you talking about when it comes to none filed grid online.
Do you mean open lobbies?

I think people will leave a broken Pcars game. This game freezes and the online is awful. ACC should be the top Sim game on console. One month and i can not wait to leave Pcars behind!

I guess that's why each year CM brings out a new game.
Last year F1 gave me more problems & felt more broken than PC2 & I only got PC2 this year & wished I got it last year & saved myself £50 - £60.
But that's just my opinion , just like you have yours

Actually had it freezed once, but generally speaking it works just fine.

It's froze the last two nights in a row with me. I haven't played it for several months until I started again 4 or 5 days ago. The freezing is very aggravating but since I'm only doing quick single player races I just restart the race and try it again.

This is what it looks like.

Agree do not plan on buying it either. I do like the GT3/GT4 cars but not enough to say that is all I want to use. With GTS being heavily saturated with GT3/GT4 cars, it was fine in the beginning say 1st year or 2. After that just became same old same old and one of the many reasons why feel like will be leaving GT series behind. Just need to take the plunge and purchase a decent PC and give AMS2 my time.

I am sure ACC will be fine on consule with a wheel. Hope it is to give car game people another avenue to step things up from GT and Forza series and lean more towards real sim racing.

In the meantime - currently having some of my best race game experiences ever on PC2. Can really get a small taste of what a real race is like (such as watching a IMSA race). Where lap after lap you will see cars fight for position. Waiting for the slight mistake or weakness and using all your skills along with some luck to be there when its time to make your move.

I’m very much looking forward to ACC and NASCAR Heat 5 for my PS4 Pro. I will buy them both simply because I want something new. Heck, I plan to buy GTS7 when it comes out as well, despite the fact that I may not play a lot. I’m in a position to support these developers and I want them to continue to make racing games.

That said, I unequivocally love PC2 and if there was no new game on the horizon I could see myself playing it for the next two years. So, no, I most definitely don’t think this game is on the outs, not just yet.

I will likely retire it when PC3/Revolution arrives. They could charge me a hundred dollars for that game and I’d pay it without a seconds hesitation.

I believe we are blessed with so many options. I don’t see myself ever being a PC gamer so I rely solely on my PS4 Pro for racing and PC2 set the bar very high for how deep a console racing sim could be. For that reason alone they deserve my money when the next one comes out

I bought my PS4 Pro in December, not having ANY experience with either console or PC games. And, I got completely sucked into the online racing of GT Sport.

But, the graphics of PC2, and the variety of vintage cars appeals to me a lot. I'm just wondering how robust the online racing is. Or, should I just enjoy the AI, or the not-so-large community enjoying PC2 online.

Oh you're coming up for payroll. Good luck out there. There's the rest of us stuck here with those evil guys from SMS forcing us to play PC2 constantly. It's terrible. :mischievous:

This is what it looks like
That's odd! I've never had anything like that happen to me. Was the console perhaps updating another game at the time? I've had the occasional update stutter while playing other games which I suppose would be exaggerated in a fast paced racing game.

Organised series and championships are probably the best way to go. Random lobbies can be a little hit or miss - but that goes with any racing game.
@Sick Cylinder ^ ;)

The best way to enjoy the online aspect of PC2 is by joining a League or two. I note you are in Australia - I'm not familiar with the Aussie Leagues, start by having a look through the online section of PC2 on this site.

I wouldn't recommend my series because of the time difference and the physical distance affecting online gaming quality.

No it's never been updating another game or any other task. Just playing the game from the disc. I always get a little hint that it's about to freeze a minute or so beforehand because it will give just the slightest stutter and then here comes the big freeze.

If you are able to enjoy the GTS online I tip my hat to you, Sir. I had a short time where I was playing it online and loving it. But, it was an all too often occurrence to have somebody I overtook cleanly come back and run me off the road. It just became too frustrating for me and I wasn’t a skilled enough driver to avoid getting hit by randoms who had no respect for racing etiquette.

I mostly play the “career mode” in PC2 followed by setting up “custom races“. It could easily take me several days to get through just one race weekend. I practice and practice and practice for a long time to make sure I understand the track and the car in order to make sure I know exactly what gear I want to be in going into and coming out of every turn. Professional drivers have race weekends so I like to simulate that. It prevents me from doing what I used to do when I first started the game, which is jump right in and try to throw the car around without much thought. I remember those days and they were so frustrating they made you hate the game. But, there are a lot of guys here wouldn’t let me quit. Over time they taught me the best way to approach the game and Ive never looked back.

There are some fantastic people who have online racing leagues. If you get hooked up with some of them you will not be disappointed. Truth is, they could all use more quality drivers to join up with them because there aren’t enough good ones out there.

I quite enjoy the smaller community lobbies, too, when a few of my friends get together, and inevitably, a few strangers. There is a degree of comeraderie that exists - and a fair amount of respect shown - that is not present at all in the organised puntfests that GTS puts on.

If I'd miss anything it is the sense of achievement in getting a rating score higher, or beating fields with drivers of known higher calibre.

But, as you said, the opportunity to race in a fair way with people of similar mindset is the siren call I may not be able to resist much longer. Even the tenor of this thread is so very different. The GTS Daily Race thread is full of people bragging about their feats or complaining endlessly about the behaviour of others, all the while they typically ARE the problem. I'm rather over it, but, again, as you said, when you get a fair, close race, it is a wonderful experience.

You are correct, Sir! And, that tenor that you detect carries over to the track. The veterans around here, the most elite racers, are also the most friendly and helpful group you will find.

can you imagine in this atmosphere, as competitive as online racing is, that the best guys here will share their setups with you and give you track advice and even talk you through racing against them all to make you better. I’ve been on a lot of forms in the past 25 years and I’ve never met a more mature and helpful group.

these guys actually enjoy watching racers get better over time. They get a sense of satisfaction in helping. You may not need help. You may be a really good racer without help. But, you will find a great sense of camaraderie with the guys here. I am an average racer, at best, and I have always made me feel welcome.

get to know the PC2 community and even if you don’t end up racing a lot on this game, you will know them and be able to race with them when PC3 comes out

Your posts have convinced me to take the plunge. It's not just yours, but others that lead me to believe that a true spirit of gentlemanly spirit (typified by the late John Landy, athlete, who was immortalised in statue form in Melbourne, Australia) exists in this community.

Thankyou so much for the warm welcome.

Nice one. 👍
Hopefully you enjoy it now after the big sell. :) But as Slthree says, any questions, ask away.

Well done @slthree you've converted another unbeliever. You're commission from SMS is paying well.

Hey, you're doing yourself down. You were quickly improving. Shame you can't join more often.

@Jezza819 - perhaps, as an experiment, you could try playing while disconnected from the internet to see if the the stutters/freezing continues.

Guys.

I have a PS4, and live in Australia. What is the best way to buy the disc version, and which packs should I get? I see there are a few "DLCs", but I'm thinking just the standard game will do.

The reviews are glowing (especially later ones which refer to the many updates which have cleaned up glitches), but ALL emphasize the steep learning curve and sheer complexity, especially regarding car setup.

In GT Sport, career progression is done via "DR" gains, but PC2 seems more 'clubman'-like. I would enjoy the true comeraderie you've talked about. How would I identify some of you, for instance?

EDIT: I've just purchased it online. PC2, here I come!

Definitely should have got the deluxe edition with all dlc, probably get it quite cheap now as well.

That's not to say the base game hasn't got enough content, but it just costs cheaper in the long run.
