It's a Hotswap drive cage that'll hold 6 2½" drives from laptops in 1 5.25" drivebay...

Complete article at the Inquirer here

holy crap. Now THAT is sexy 👍

Probably unnecessarily loud though - especially if all 12 decide to go under load at once.

Have you heard a 5400rpm drive from a laptop compared to a 7200rpm 3.5" drive.. This thing will be whisper quiet - even with 12 drives spinning away !:..

Man - 12 times 150 + 2 times infinite for cages... There goes my Robosapiens v2 :irked:

my last laptop sounded like a freight train :)

My current one does. Which is why I built the computer I'm on right now.

My roommate is talking about getting one of those. He's starting to fill up his harddrives and doesn't have a bunch of room for more. Oh and by the way, he has atleast 1.2TB of storage space.

My Laptop is very quiet.

It maybe because the fan is constantly on now (:grumpy: ), but I remember is was quiet before. 👍

If he is after SPACE (which I assume) - I wouldn't recommend one of these - Especially for the price. One 500Gb 3½" drive would probably only set him back 10-15% (if that much) of what this will cost.. And I've got NO idea what price range this will be in.. And then he has to calculate in the cost of a 6 channel raid5 controller as well.. Actually - He can a buy a new case with more room and 2 500 gig drives and STILL save for a good night out !..

This is mainly (only) interesting if you need the security of raid, has no room left but have a spare PCI port - and deep enough pockets..

12 120's in a pair of 5 1/2" bays.... not too shabby. :D

I'm looking at getting 6 Hitachi 500gig hdd's to setup in a RAID 0+1 array... meaning a 1.5terabyte drive with a backup, in case it were to poop out on me. :D
what about the parity based raid array (raid 5 I think). You get the storage space of 2/3 drives. The 3rd drive contains parity data which is used to recover in case one drive fails... of course, a bit of parity data is stored on each drive - not just 1
