I see, thanks everyone :). much credit needed to enter 300mph race I guess. not to mention failed 300mph car project too. But when we can make it run to 300mph I am sure it feels good :).

MStorm
unless one of the LeMans cars can do it no-nos and on a stage 3 turbo only.
MStorm
Actually what am I on about saying no NOS! A Stage 3 with NOS is still valid, and cheaper than the Chapparal 2D's Stage 4. The Minolta can almost certainly do that.
Well, my R8 does 300mph with no NoS without me even using specialised settings (straight off using the 350+ setup), so I'm pretty certain that a Stage 3 with NoS would work.

the Grinch
Or perhaps a stage 4 with NOS, but still using R3's. That can get you 333.
Now you mention it, my R8 could probably do 300mph with Stage 3 Turbo and NoS but on R3s. This means it costs only 50,000cr.. Well, it would if it was a prize car but I bought mine :p

All progress with the Lotus has been ruined! Data corrupted again. I have to go back to the back-up save I made last Tuesday. I had gotten it to 312.31 at highest, too. So expect some quicky thing to take it back (expect less than 310.8, but more than Masterstorm's) while I'm working on the '02 again.

ouch! bad luck, buddy. it actually makes me happy now that I bought second memory card for back-ups..:nervous:

Oh, bad luck Toronado... :( This is what scares me about having my main save on one card and my old test save on the other... No way of backing up, but I haven't been struck yet... :nervous:

Hope you can catch back up soon.

It's not '3 sec', it's 3mph, if this were a time trial we might do things a little differently

And actually, there isn't a Viper GTS on the leaderboard, only SRT10s have been used.

try semi racing suspension. try use mid range rpm (bellow red line) for last gear if you use manual. try supercharger (if exist) too.

well if i do the mid range RPM just like you told me, it will not work... trust me ive try everything out. i dont think its possible without cheating to go over 303 or 305 in this car on the test track in one single lap.:ouch:

even when i play with the AI cars, going behind them, so that there is less drag form the wind would only take me 303 MPH tops.... i dont know how those people do it
some cars do have their limits. and 303MPH for the Speed 12 is one of them.

That's what I said :odd:

Sorry for the sec thing

Hey guys! New here, but i found your thread pretty intresting. 👍

I myself made a dash for the 300mph barrier way back when i first started playing the game (about a year ago +,-). I did eventually brake it with a Toyota Minolta... i think right now my top speed is around 316mph (pretty pathetic next to you guys  ).

Anyway reading through this thread got me thinking about LSRs in general. Wouldn't it be cool to have various catagories... not just 300mph+ ? Such as you could compile a list of the fastest cars that were made before 1965, or have a title for the fastest German car, etc. etc. Anyway thats my idea 💡

... Along this train of thought i decided i'd set out and see if i could be the first to break the 300mph barrier with a front wheel drive vehicle 💡 But after looking at the best that FF had to offer i quickly realized this was a stupid idea :dunce: : As not a single FF car starts with more than 270hp (correct me if i'm wrong... i may have overlooked something), and the mods available to these cars left something to be desired... :indiff: Never the less i decided to at least see how fast they would go.

My first test so far was with the Alfa Romeo 147 GTA. As it so happend i already had one of these pretty little cars sitting in my garage as I had used it previously to win the GTA cup at the Alfa dealership. To my recollection the car sucked: Full upgraded the thing put down 433hp... but i say put down very losely because it span the tires so much that you could barely go anywhere quickly. The quater mile took somewhere around 13 seconds, but should be significantly less concidering the cars weight and power. But that wasn't the worse thing.. nooo, the worst was the torque steer and subsequent understeer  . Driving this thing reminded me much of driving the boats that were featured in GTA: Vice City! However, none of that mattered really, cuz i was gonna max out the gear ratios and there would be only one Reeeeally big corner to negotiate in the Max Speed test.

It didn't take long to reach a brick wall speed wise: 225mph :banghead: and despite my best efforts in tweaking the gears and suspension i could go any faster than 226mph. Still though.. not bad for a front wheel drive hatchback :D

225mph.jpg

So basically now i'll test some other FF cars, but really i'd like your imput/help in tuning. I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to that (mostly i just leave the cars stock), so some helpful tips in how to get that extra 50 mph out of my car would be welcome :D

P.S. Sorry if this was covered at any point in this thread before... i tried to read it all.. i really did, but theres 190 pages for gods sake!!

Hey guys! New here, but i found your thread pretty intresting. 👍

you're warmly welcome! there's always need for new gearheads here to keep this thing going beyond 300mph.

316mph? my 3000GT is faster than that.. :sly: just teasing you, no offence.:dopey:

that idea of different categories has been in my mind too, but organizing it would be quite tricky. if you have seen the leaderboard of 300mph club, and noticed how often it needs to be updated ( sometimes few times a day ), and the creator of this thread, DE, is almost literally blown away by amount of the work. (maybe I do exaggerate, but not much :D)

hmm.. FF cars sneaking closer 300mph? that's definitely new and somewhat pervy thought, since this thread has mere FR (Supra etc), MR(all those racecars:rolleyes:) , 4WD ( pile of brick like GT-R!:O ) and MR-AWD ( only one of these, Tommykaira ZZ-II) cars that have broken the barrier.

But, i think you should turn your speed-blind eye towards japanese FF's, or maybe towards certain american ones. Toyota TRD Celica, Mitsubishi FTO, Ford Focus RS, SRT-4.. they're sleeker and lighter than alfas, so give them some spanking around track, maybe you'll end up on Veyron-zone. (250ish mph)

yes. I know. I got halfway thru, shedding nostalgic tears once when I was bored.:( and if I recall right, it hasn't been covered that specifically until now.

MStorm
Hence why he said 'first' record. I agree the wording could have been clearer though.
Ahh, I thought he meant the first-place Viper... Which is still only 300.69mph, so 297+3mph could be it... Ignore that little brain-fart :ouch:

GT4_Rule
Ohh, so cheapest as in, the total cost!
Mmhmm :p

Hi there Fireball27, nice to see a long informative first post here :) Welcome to GTP! 👍
Your plans for having different catagories here have been mentioned before, but we must remember that this is the 300mph Club, not just a general speed testing area. FF speed testing has been mentioned recently, and I tried to crush it out of the thread as I subscribe to the belief that there's no way a car can drive itself over 300mph by the front wheels  but even so I look forward to being proven wrong one day... That really would be something fresh! (Not me being wrong, a 300mph FF :sly: )

Anyway, again about the catagories, we do have records for the fastest speed in each and every car, as well as the three Outright records (No-Nitrous, Road Car and Absolute Land Speed Record) and Manufacturer's records. As it is now, these are only shown in the Recent Records section for a week after they're set, and then they go into my Old Records file. It is an idea I've considered to have all of these records on the Leaderboard page, or perhaps the manufacturer ones, but as Leo says it just makes more work for me :dopey: but then again, I signed up for this! :D So maybe you'll see something like it soon 👍

Oh, by the way, don't worry about not reading the whole thread. I'm pretty sure that I'm the only person on these forums who could look through it and not see anything new

DE

Well, besides me at least. I was, what, the 4th poster in this thread?
I also think I may have found a possible 300 MPH FF car. I'll do some tests tommorow.

True, Toronado, you might well have seen it all too :p
You weren't the 4th poster, though... :odd:

Somehow I have a feeling you will not sleep until you have front wheel 300mph lordship... :scared:

DE

It all depends on how much power I can get out of the car I am thinking of and whether or not it will take nitrous (which is sadly something many FF cars with over 400 BHP can not do). I also will need to verse myself in FF tuning.

keep experimenting, my speed 12 can go over 310mph in maximum speed test. I am very sure that I utilize rpm at maximum tourqe range, not maximum hp range when I run it. Too bad I forget at what rpm it has maximum tourqe.

Do FF car can turn at 250mph? this is interesting :).

I'm interested as to what speed they will reach in the corner, if it's as high as 250mph there will be no problems :p but I think it would be difficult to have them much over 210-220mph... We'll see what Toronado can come up with..

DE

good luck Toronado with your FF-project......i have a new speed with my S-Tune, but i'm not very happy with it yet, so i'll have to do some more work!

viper

I now have 4 or 5 'new cars' all up to 296mph or higher, but some of them I'm abandoning as not possible. Some have been mentioned here lately, some not. Just to let you know what I'm up to as I haven't been smashing records as of late. ;)

With regards to FF cars, I gave quite a good explanation (in my opinion) of why 300mph is much more difficult for them back a few pages. 👍

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?p=2329470#post2329470

Yes, I was wondering where that explanation had gone, MStorm. Just didn't get around to finding it :p but it is a good one 👍

DE

i tried two FF-cars, one wasn't even close at the barrier and the other one is @ 246,xx for now, but i'm not sure about more....maybe 260 or so.
it would be interesting which one Toronado is going to try *gg*
