@ Dracwolley: please read the first post, and try not to waste space with nonsensical posts. :ouch:

@ DE: way to go with the server update. Looks grand. :sly: 👍

@ all the new dudes: way to go with all the new speeds, and welcome and stuff. :)

But, if I am breaking the rules, yes, feel free to ban me.
The rules simply mean that you wont appear on the leader board unless you have proof, and is a rule we need to stick by in order to keep some sense of authenticity about the 300mph club. It's not a rule that affects your GTPlanet membership in any way whatsoever, so you really don't need to worry about being banned from the forums or even this thread. I think it's important that we understand that not everyone is able to provide proof, and that those members shouldn't be excluded from taking part in the high speed discussions.

On a personal level, the speeds you mentioned are not exactly suspicious, so I think most people would give you the benefit of the doubt in regards to your claims. Well done. 👍

Quite right. :)

just wondering how do all you lot get your speeds on the leaderboard because most of you dont post them here
I'm pretty sure that most (if not all) of the speeds on the leaderboard have been posted in this thread. Certainly all of my speeds have, and most of the regulars too. :)

Was there a particular record you were trying to look for?

All of them have been posted here. There's one possible exception... I think that one speed was sent to me via email a very long time ago (something I don't accept these days), but if that speed wasn't posted here as well I know that the sender certainly had posted in the thread - as I only put GTP usernames on the Leaderboard.

So, 'most of us' might be one speed out of 379 ;)

I've done 315mph in a Minolta. full parts upgrades, lowered the suspension and downforce and the power setting for the nitrous.

I don't know how to transfer replays on to the computer and i'm not even sure if i still have the replay.

For speeds under 350mph, you only need to provide a picture of the Session Record screen (that's the one you get taken to immediately after finishing the run, showing the car name and best speed of the current session). You can take that picture with a digital camera (or maybe even a camera phone). Obviously, getting it from the digital camera to the PC should be pretty self explanatory.

That will mean you need to do a new high speed run in the car (in order to get the session record screen up), but if you reached 315mph before then you should be able to break 300mph again without too much trouble.

Just for future reference, one way to capture replays on your computer is to use a video capture card (so that you can plug the Playstation2's output directly into the PC). Video capture cards often come with software for recording the input. An alternative (and perhaps easier) way is to use a digital camcorder (or digital camera with video capture features) and simply point it at your TV screen.

If you need any more advice about obtaining a screen shot or replay from Gran Turismo, feel free to PM me. I'm always willing to help! 👍

Of course, because of the stable and higher-quality video, capture cards are preferable for verification at very high speeds - but so long as the quality is good enough for me to be able to see the wheels and the ground (and distinguish between the two :p) then it'll do for lower-range speeds over 350mph.

Lower-range speeds over 350mph... We've come a long way, haven't we...

Note that photographs of the 'recent records' screen, which you can get to without re-doing the run, are not accepted as these differ slightly from the Session Record screen. Also, that screen does not show car colour (for distinguishing between Black and liveried race cars).

Escudo and Option..? I smell ARMAX.. and I highly doubt that GT-one speed as well.. but, by all means, prove that i'm wrong and you'll be the newcomer of the year.

I smell a ...bad case... of teh "n00bness"... But just for the sake of the actual remote, highly and incredibly unlikely chance of these actually being legit, show some proof...and I'll love you forever. Hmm....:dunce:

i also doubt the speeds, because i'm tried the option stream too (a lot!!) and i can say that it's not possible without wheeliing or cheating!

Now we shall wait for this so-called photo verification, from a member whose only other post here is proven to be a shameless lie...

I was wondering, does it have to be on the test course that we accomplish the 300+? Is it okay to take it on that four miles of straight at Circuit de la Sarthe II? I know it's bumpy as hell, but I've been trying to see if I can reach 300 mph before the end of the straight, hit the brakes, and still make the turn without flying off the track in a fully modified Ford GT with Nitrous.

DE, if it's legit then I'll congratulate him and head back out to try to beat him :)

By the way, did you notice I didn't even comment on his misspelling of Chaparral (three mistakes in one word - that's got to be some sort of record)

Knee Dragger - for the 300MPH Club it must be on Test Course (see Post #1 for the rules). And in any case, the Sarthe straight yielded significantly slower speeds than Test Course. (check out posts 4798, 4800, and 4807)

3. All speed runs must be made at the Test Course in Max Speed Test mode.
It's really not that hard to check these things...

Indeed, as 2078TM says, the Huandaires Straight (call it Mulsanne if you must :p) is simply far, far too uneven and unpredictable to reach the speeds possible at the Test Course. Anyway, if your speedometer does momentarily read 300mph, who's to say it wasn't something between 299.5 and 299.99mph? :p

I know :)
It seems rather like he's simply added one mile per hour to your record and posted that, so I wouldn't worry too much if I were you
