Don't worry about sounding arrogant, as it didn't come across that way. We're more interested in high speeds here rather than politics.
The words of someone who wasn't around in the days of Rac3rX... We're not terribly worried about how things come across in posts, but the intention does matter :p

MS
would have let that pass personally, from looking at the size/shape of the cars shadow as it hits about 360mph. DE's the adjudicator though, and his decision is the one that counts.
If enough of you guys can be confident that it's OK, then I will let it pass, but as my personal experience with that car is very little I can't verify it on my own. A few more opinions? :) I don't want to have to rule it out.

Anyway..
MS
Took me about an hour to do them both.
I have to say, I expected something like that
Nice work, MS, and with the 300ZX - Leonidae might not be too pleased with you doing that 'just for fun' :p

As for the Pace Car... Well, who'd have thought it? I guess it's got the power, but I never considered trying it. Hold on, have I even got one? :dopey:
Congratulations, anyway. Have we ever had a fixed-downforce car over 300mph?
I wonder if Toronado will react to the triumph of Fascist downforce :p

Here we go again with the pending update :)

DE

After all my other high speed achievements, the Gran Turismo Federation allowed me to take a victory lap in the pace car...

...they only told me afterwards that I wasn't supposed to tune it!

Gran Turismo Skyline GT-R (PC) '01 @ 300.72mph [screen] [video] [YouTube]

I'm happy to finally push a car with unadjustable downforce over 300mph. I found some new tricks that meant I didn't have to take the bizarre racing line I mentioned earlier (which involved quick side to side flicks of the steering), and this allowed me to push the speed over 300mph.

I have no idea what the Skyline Squadron will say to this one... :nervous:

i tried that but im wasnt good enough, got nowhere near :grumpy:

looks ok to me 👍

and with my :dunce: I lost 2 bHP from trying to reach that speed :grumpy: .

Any way never mind.I don't care

pfft, I never liked 300ZX that much anyways, you can keep it. :p it took a year to push it to 300mph, and after that, I haven't driven with any 300zx again :ouch:

and about GT-R pacecar.. good job. I knew that it had power and torque at right place, and I also got it quite close few times, but couldn't do it.. oh well, I'm still bathing in the glory of first 300mph GT-R record. :sly:

Suzuki ESCUDO Dirt Trial Car '98
303.00 Mph
Ah, using the same trick as with the Tommy Kaira, Skyline, etc.

I knew it could be applied to a lot of 4 wheel drive cars, but I never tried with the Escudo. I guess I'll have to get give the car a try. Well done! 👍

2 new cars for the leaderboard inside 24 hours... and I bet most people thought we'd already found every 300mph car there is! :)

Shangoob, I recived your PM asking to see my TS020 video and decided to respond here for the benefit of anyone else who might be interested.

Check out posts #4306 through #4335 which will get you to both my original (crappy) submission and my struggles to eventually provide acceptable verification. Hope this also helps to put in perspective DE's comment on your video.

All my videos, by the way, are on YouTube under 2078TM as are MS's under MasterStorm.

Mine are under MasterStormGT actually, though if you search for just MasterStorm it should bring them up. 👍

I've found another 300mph car (possibly 2), but I need to give the barrier in the tunnel a quick tap in order to do it... I guess that's outside the rules. :grumpy:

Edit:
Wahey! We reached page 300!

BMW McLaren F1 GTR Race Car '97 @ 309.14mph [screen] [video] [YouTube]

Sweet speeds, nice job:tup:

I managed to improve my Ford GT speed little bit, but not enough. And my McLaren was slow all day.

But another Ford GT did it

Ford GT LM Race Car Spec II '04 300.02mph

Also made new Gillet Vertigo record, improved old record 0.01mph but everything counts, right?

Gillet Vertigo Race Car 307.28mph

Edit
I forgot to post my Mercedes speed that I talked couple days ago.

AMG Mercedes CLK-GTR Race Car '98 332.41mph

Wahey! We reached page 300!
You reached Page 300 :p

Now, who gets Number Six Thousand... :trouble:

Anyway, to business. I-Runner, to describe that as a 'miracle' is no exaggeration. I've looked closely at it, and although at first sight it looks fine there are a couple of unclear spots. Could you please take some PhotoMode close-ups from a few different angles at 299, 301 and 303mph?
I want to believe it. Make me certain :D

I don't recall the 300mph Club ever being quite so busy - a frankly ridiculous spurt of interest has led to the Leaderboard database having over a dozen speeds waiting to be updated... And I haven't even added Shadow's latest crop :p Nice work! 👍
Shadow
new Gillet Vertigo record, improved old record 0.01mph but everything counts, right?
Tell that to Ichi

And with that, the database is up-to-date once more. Shame the bloody server won't let you guys see where you stand... :banghead:

Because Toronado tried the Ford GT, hard, and didn't manage...
I don't believe I ever touched any of the race cars, excepting the GT40. My brick wall O' doom came with the 3 road GT's.

I wonder if Toronado will react to the triumph of Fascist downforce
I got a little something up my sleeve. Things just happen a lot slower when you are reluctant to use B-Spec and you just restarted the game.

Nice work, MS, and with the 300ZX - Leonidae might not be too pleased with you doing that 'just for fun'

it was me, who had the record of the 300ZX...........

Leo
MasterStorm, I-runner, here's a challenge.. Option Z..

i tried it too and i couldn't do it, good luck,...........i'm still the first one with a 350Z over 300mph :sly:

and now I even don't want to hear about that purple abomination! :ouch: fat-assed piece of [insert proper word here]..:grumpy:

I-Runner, that's a legitimate run! Thanks for the in-depth verificaiton. Congratulations on doing what we all thought was impossible, for a long time! :p

DE

Thanks DE 👍

I think that other speed :bowdown:specialists of 300mph can do it !

I start to think that 300MPH with escudo were possible
during my test on 1000m ..at the end of the run, at 1000m,
the escudo reaches  440 km/h, 300mph are ~483km/h ..

Friday evening i found the 43 km/h ... i need :

now i go to finish my GT4, after that I have more time for
power and speed record !

Ciao

:)

And, by stroke of miracle (or rather, leaving it for a couple of hours while I raced on LFS), the Freewebs server finally loaded! So, I've managed to get the main Leaderboard up to date as well.

Leaderboard Updated

Tried pushing my Skyline over 300mph but gave up on that one and went with the Tommy Kaira instead:

Tommy Kaira ZZII: 338.02mph

(My DVD recorder makes it really dark so turn up the brightness to make it clearer)

I'm assuming that the Skyline is meant to be similar in terms of settings so I'll give that another go later - though i'm suprised with this speed since I didn't really do anything special on this run other than changing the gears and downforce (it uses the standard suspension settings). Bit of a lucky fluke really.
