Just to avoid confusion, is that the Nissan R390 GT1 Race Car?

DE

Yep, that was the one that I was talking about. I was thinking of two diffrent cars and mentaly fused them together. The end result wasn't a pretty sight. Oops. :dunce:

I managed to hit 313 last night in my black GT-one. I'll try to get a pic. later when I'm off work. Then its off to tinkering with the R390. <--got it right this time. :D

Falango, well done. I've been trying for ages to beat Mission 34 (on PAL! The shame of it!) and having come within three seconds a great many times I've given up to make this club instead :) 550km/h is attainable. Go for it!

PARAGON GT, well done with the GT-One. I don't think that anybody's got the R390 there yet, someone was going to try but when they heard it was classed as a race car they gave up  I'm recalling all this but it may be wrong! I'll check it out, or you can or whatever. Good luck anyway! 👍

German theme this evening

The Mercedes CLK-GTR is seriously quick: 322.94mph. Don't know why it isn't more popular here. Maybe because it's a bit ugly or something.

And the Veedub doesn’t have many flies on it, either: 302.14 for the Nardoo.

how in the hell you got that merc into such speed? I didn't get it even near 300 mph.. :irked: :ouch:

I hadn't touched it before, as the best speed posted was just a bit over 300mph, so it looked boring, for a race car. But curiosity got the better of me.

When I set it up I realised it has heaps of power (about 1083PS if I remember correctly) so I knew it should fly.

I always tune cars first without using nitrous at all, and it got up to about 293mph without the puffer, so I knew that it should be good for 310-320 minimum. In the quick runs it's well into the high 290s before it straightens up for the run home.

I have to go now, but when I get back in later tonight I'll get out the gearing settings I used, and you can use them as a starting point. I use minimum downforce both ends, by the way. Keeps things simple and legal.

:dopey: Now, that's the reason! I used maximum downforce.. that way, the speed feels much more impressive.. but somehow, I feel that all racecars are so damn skittish at high speeds.. tyres kep squealing at straights etc.. that's why I prefer road cars.

Max downforce is for road courses that are tight, so that it gives you max traction front and back. Min downforce is for high speeds, so that there is minimal drag and nothing holding the air from sweeping right over the car.

I am also going to make a list of cars I can get over 300mph. I have a feeling this list may be a bit longer than I would expect. We will see.

I have sad news.. i have to buy new GT4.. because when i was cleaning up, my PS2's wires got tangled up with the brushes stick, so it did fell from table.. the PS2 works fine, but.. :guilty: my GT4 is done for. it got so bad scratches on it when it was inside the PS2 when it fell, that now when I finish ny top speed challenge or race, the game crashes.. :( :banghead:

Actually, minimum downforce all round is nowhere near the best setup.

What, is mine not good enough for you?

Congratulations Ozmac on getting the two Germans higher. I took out my CLK-GTR a while ago but I have no idea what I did with it.. Oh well I think it was 317 or something... It was a bit skittish to say the least!

Leaderboard being updated.

What about one of those disk cleaners? Or polishing up the disk a little?

Be thankful that you still have your memory card. Thats half the game.

those scarches are wide and deep.. it doesn't help.. I already tried that. and I am very grateful that my memory card didn't corrupt, becausei have tons of 6.2 mile specials in my garage, starting from Fiat 500R  and ending to Skylines etc..

Leo, that is indeed a shame... I missed you post in my above reply, sorry. If you can't find a new copy elsewhere, I'd recommend Amazon.com, you should find it for under £30 easily. Thank your lucky stars your memory card didn't spasticate as well!

bad week indeed.. first your misfortune, now mine.. :( and just when i was humiliating DE's R33 with my R32 at Trial Mountain.. i could already taste the victory.. but now, I feel the bitter taste of second place.. :irked: it's not over yet, DE, you hear me?! I'll rise again! :trouble:

Hey man you were never gonna beat me :p I was giving you a headstart!
I'll soon put you firmly in second place, don't you worry :)

If you all remember waaaaaayyyy back to when this thread started, and before I pissed away my life with the Chaparral 2D, I was working on the Gillet Vertigo. I believe the most I got out of it is 197 MPH. Well, going back to it made me realise that I had gotten that high with 30-shot nitrous. I cranked it up to 50 and this was the result:

The car is still a P.O.S. though.

Ahh! Not nice. I got hooked on the 'Ring almost as soon as I bought the game, so I got that one out of the way soon after I found it. Brake early. It's the only way.

Congratulations on your hundred, Eddie!

Toronado, well done on adding yet another car to our list.. You still have to get the Chaparral on it next to your name though ;)

EDIT - Unless I've miscounted, there's now fifty speeds on the leaderboard! 👍👍

I don't know if any of you know about this car, but it has a smaller power/weight ratio than the LMP's and you can buy it anytime you want.....it's fast. I did this in 5 or 6 runs tweakin it, i'm sure there is more in it though.

Not quite yet.
