Hi all, think this is only my second post. I have a gripe and would be keen to know if anyone else feels the same way I do about the recent time trials. That is the need to tune a car to get gold. I have had this game from day one and aside from the obvious faults (bunny chases with AI parking on the corners etc) I think its great. But now I need to tune the cars to get gold and this does my head in. I can drive this thing - as I have golded all the licenses and Vettel challenges many moons ago but I just havent got time to come home from work and start tuning cars for the time trials. I thought this was the 'Real Driving Game' not the 'Real Tuning Game'. I want a race game not a tuning game. I appreciate there are people out there that enjoy this aspect of the game, but what about folks like me that simply haven't got the time to experimant or go searching out tunes? This current time trial is a great case in point, I golded the Corvette fairly simply but it seems the rally component is a no go without a good tune. Guess I am going to have to blow the TT's off and stick to the bunny chases. :(

I do agree with you to a certain extent but I golded the rally challenge first time with a Ford RS2000, no tuning just a few parts added to bring the pp up :)

If only there was a website that compiled every tune, for every car, in the entire game... Maybe even a specific section that compiled Cars and tunes for Seasonal Events.

I really don't get some people... are you really that lazy, or are you just looking for an excuse to whine?

It's not going to take you more than a few minutes to look though this thread and find a number of decent tunes. I posted a tune for the RS200 on Saturday morning that 3 or 4 people have used to get in the top 10.

It probably took you longer to write that drivel than it would have to find a tune for your car on here.

I dispare sometimes.

Hey stotty the don't happen to have a tune for the vett for the TT do you? LMFAO ;-)

You need to tune the car to get gold? If you managed to gold all the licenses and the Vettel challenges I would expect you to be able to drive around the handling "problems" some cars may have to get gold.
Yes, it might take a tad longer than when your car is fully tuned but it is very possible to do.

Look at the GT Academy, you can't tune them there, so following your reasoning you are basically telling me that those times were impossible to achieve?

If you had said : you need to tune to get a top 10 time, then I would agree, but just to get gold : that's pushing it, a lot

Hey rob I don't have time to tune I work around 70hours a week but you can find so many great tunes and I do mean great tunes on here, if you don't want to tune just give it some beanz with the stock car until you get the gold!!!

Woooo Hooo!!! Finally broke into the 1:16s with a 1:16.833 putting me second :D :) :) I used Stotty's tune but changed rear ride height to 21, that gave me more grip round the fast corners in the first sector and made it easier to point at the apex in the middle sector :) So happy!

Nice rant

If you're currently at 1'18.2 there's no miracle set up that is gonna gain you 1.6 seconds, so I wouildn't get worked up about Amo's tune - I've had access to his tunes in previous TT's and I have no idea how he get's them round so quickly... he just has a talent beyond most poeple to control weight transfers through the wheel, gas and brake pedal.

If you look at how he takes the 1st corner, he's using GT5's 'brake release oversteer' trait to precisely point the car at the corner... that's how he manages to carry so much entry speed. I can set a car up to do that with ballast, toe and brake settings, but to be able to control it that precisely isn't the tune, it's his skill.

In any case, you don't need to be at 103mph in turn 1 to set a fast 1st sector. I can stay within 0.1xx of him on a good lap at T1, and I'm dropping to 100mph in turn 1... but then I'm not getting as much oversteer on the exit and so I pull some ground back on him before the 2nd corner.

Here's what I'm using... 1'17.6 (24th), but I reckon this will run very low 17's once I figure the middle sector out.

Edit... BTW, forgot to say, without tuning, the really fast guys will be even further ahead.

Is this with RM? I can't add a wing unless I put if into rm

Strange, normally it's in the Aero bits part of GT Auto, but I do remember that there was one type of wing that was quite subtle, so I had to take Type B to be sure that I had fitted it

Brilliant time 👍

Eh? No, it's not race modified. It's the Premium C6 Vette with the wing you buy in the Aero Parts section of GT Auto.

Hey mate what wheel do you use and view? Ps great time mate ;-)

Sick indeed

I'm just watching the replay... I so wish I could drive my own car as well... faulous throttle control 👍

BTW... try running the accel a bit higher (15-18)... if you're that good on the throttle you'll probably benefit from the extra exit traction.

Oh, and someone was clearly talking mostly rubbish when they said...

I think I'll fetch my coat now :D

Thank you everyone, I finally got there :D I use a G27 and I use the view where you look from behind the car :) Haha, well I did have the setup all wrong, it was stable but not fast :) Thanks for the tip, I might try that in the morning with a couple of other things, your set up is pretty damn good :sly:

Well done bandit-keep it going for a top 10-maybe a 1st place for the Brits. 👍
Especially good when u use the roof cam. :)

Bad timing m8

Whaaaaat! I guess you are just use to that view.

Err... I'm lost for words!

Thanks I will try :) Is it unusual to use that view, it makes sense to me as you can see the angle that the rear of the car is at :)

@bandit when you say behind the car you mean where you can see all the car?

Yes :)

EDIT: it is definitely possible to go faster, I lost at least 1 tenth on the way into the final sector as my adrenaline shot up when I saw -0.503 faster than my ghost :D

Thanks mate ;-) and well done again you fast freak :-)

You are unique as far as I know... I only ever knew one guy who was super fast using that view, and that's Ron (MrP, Mysteron), but even he switched to bumper cam back in Prologue I think.

I don't know anyone else even remotely fast who uses that view 👍

Don't get excited... there's only so much you do with it... it's still pretty evil on camber changes... still got an idea to try yet 👍

Yeah, your setup is only capable of a 1:16.7 ;)

EDIT: I did try switching in last years GT Academy but I couldn't get used to the bumper cam, it feels a bit low down and there is no real way of telling how the rear of the car is behaving until you have to correct it with the wheel :)

BanditKarter, 👍
Well done, awesome lap and another well done for using that veiw.
Must give the sense of pushing the car, ha.
