Ive heard good things but i have to hold on for an xbox or ps2 demo as my pc dont like games.

So going to download this later, thanxs for telling us mate.

Played the demo yesterday and even though it's extremely easy to drive the cars it is lots of fun and a big improvement from TRD2, especially DTM. The engine noise is much better (very close to real life). The cars feel much more heavy, not like those bouncy cars from TRD2.
Can't wait for the full game. I think Online will be so much fun with this game now that it's easier to drive fast lap times as more people will be competitive.

I felt that the DTM C class was too easy to drive, maybe the traction control and steering management were on full tilt, but there weren't any options to turn them off. The Commodore felt more realistic, it understeered some and the rear wheels started to spin when I stepped on the throttle out of a corner.

The cars you race in perhaps, I'm downloading it now and won't play it till tomorrow but just read the comments above.

Integra Type R
How is this demo any different from the new Civic demo that came out a while ago?

Well, it looks better, it runs much smoother, physics are much better, more cars to race with etc. It's a real demo of the game unlike the Civic demo that represented the Alpha build (very early version) of the game.

I don't like it.

It feels like any other arcade game. If you're use to play GTR and GTL then this is nothing.
There're some feature that are better then GTR or GTL. Environment and tracks look much better then in GTR and GTL. AI seems to be very good. Effects are also better. And a very, very nice damage model!!! 👍
Even GT4 is much much better then this game.

You can still see and FEEL that it is codemaster's intention to make games for a profit. I don't think that they are really race sim freaks. Simbin programmers are!!!!

Far, far, far better than the absolutely awful Civic demo. An evolution of TOCA RD 2 but not different enough to be worth another purchase I feel.

I agree, seems like they pump them out year in year out without alot of changes (same with Colin McRae rally). In many ways I think Codemasters lost the plot after TOCA2 (The original) and Colin McRae Rally 2.

:odd: hmm.. thought I posted here.

well, I didn't like it... the damage seemed fake, just deform of the model and the Graphics didn't seem that great too. Hopefully the final version i better. :grumpy:

Theres two RD2006 threads, one in here and one in the PS2 forum.

Yep, you're right but this thread is about the demo and what people think about it.

Has anyone been able to use a controller for the demo or have you just been using the keyboard. I can't figure out how to make it support my controller.

I configured the DFP (only the wheel) and the speed7 as pedals. There is a clutch but I got it working in reverse :dopey: :yuck: . Push to drive and release the clutch to shift gears. I don't know what I did wrong.
But yes it is possible to use a controller (steering wheel and pedals).
There is also surround sound. :)

I just use PS2 control, i'm not a steering wheel kind of guy really.

I'm really dissapointed about the demo. Toca is even less of a sim than GT is. I know it's intention is to be an Arcade-sim, but really... It's just an arcade game really, even with the "sim-setting" on.

The engine-sounds weren't all that good either.

Anyone else got the This is what a Honda feels like Demo? I got mine with this months issue of TopGear, it's the Honda Civic, and you get to drive it on 10 tracks.

That demo sucks, get the new one.

This is the newest one you can get, it's not the same as the Civic demo you could download, I already have the other ones.

I would say that this game is fun to play, but it seems to lack depth. If you're playing all driving games with keyboard, and want to have some fun and fast racing, this would be a good choice i guess. The sense of speed was good, but for me it seemed too fast.

I think it is a good game. More fun than GT4 even, and i love the damage too. There are also more varied race styles. In the full version there will be monster trucks. I've already ordered it off play.com so hopefully i'll get it in a month or so 👍
