Yeah Chris, I was accepted, so the next time you play, my name should ne UKOG-Matt

I've not done any of the WT mode for a while, I was on I think Tier 12, where you can racing in the Formula Fords, the Palmers Jaguars or the Audi Quattor group B rally. I tried the rally a few times but kept wreaking my car, I didi a more cautios attempt and finnished 8 seconds behind. A few more wreaks later and I came first by 0.465 seconds.

I think we should all post up our online usernames and make a gtp room or something and all meet and race.

I just bought this game yesterday and so far I love it. I kinda miss the street cars and all the upgrades from GT4, but the engine sounds and car physics of toca are far, far better. Not to mention the career type of game set up and ONLINE PLAY!!I've been a GT fan since the first one, but I have to say, even with the awful graphics toca is simply a better game.

btw---I've raced a few times on-line but I keep gettin my *** handed to me lol. Guess I still need to get used to these cars and tracks.

This game is quite amazing. I worked pretty hard to beat GT4 the week before this was released. You're all welcome to join in my rooms (DINGULBURY) - hey barretj1971; I think you were in the room yesterday for a bit : )

I noticed you're from Ohio, I'm in the extreme northeast corner by the lake.

We usually race sim but I enjoy pro-sim for longer enduros. Most of the time we do sprint races 3-8 laps and do a good variety of series.

Ok, so everyday that goes by, I want to get this game more and more. Outside of the online features, can anyone list pros and cons of this game for the PS2 and XBox?
I understand that online is fun and I understand the challange of it, I just don't play much online.....
I have both systems. I have had the XBox for almost a year now. I've been a Sony fanboy since PS1, so the hardest thing to get used to for me is the controller, but I can overcome that.

For which system is this game better? and why?

Im glad to hear that everyone is having soo much fun with this game. I truly think it will be one of those games that will be seriously underrated. THose that never play this game really are missing out on a very diverse and wonderful racing experience from every driving angle available. 👍

I'm addicted to the DTM cars now, they're so quick and fun to throw around, and they make some close racing..

Can't wait for this damn Crossover cable to come so i can play online

Hi, just started playing - auto gear, and I don't think I'm doing pro sim (the handling option is not ticked in options)
I keep losing places on the start, from 1st down to 5th or more, and then have to outbrake to get back.

Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

I've tried holding the button half-way (yes, I'm just using the PS2 controller, no DFP) but no diff. Only on world tour so far.

Each car is a bit different, you just need to experiment with how much throttle to apply for each car, most are about the same. I use the DFP and I hve it so the blue accelerator pressure bar is up to about 85-90% on most cars, anjd I don't lose more than 1 occasionaly 2 places at the start.

Thanks! I'll definitely try switching to the stick and ease it in more carefully - although I'll have to get used to that again - most racing games (like GT4) seem to work better using X, and square. Maybe my buttons are broken.

I hadn't actually paid close attention to the throttle bar on the side, but now that you mention it, I think I often went off the race start with the bar in red. I'll look out for it, thanks.

I briefly tried the pro handling but the car kept spinning off ... Guess I'll have to practice more.

PS: so far I think - great game! just hoping I see more of the crashes that the promo pics alluded to...

I actually had better results with GT4 once I started using the analog sticks instead of the x button.

It depends on what car you are using. With a 4wd you can have the throttle on almost max - never red - a front-driver can also have the bar almost on max, but you'll need to wait a little longer after the lights go out before you can bury the throttle else you'll still spin the wheels. A rear-driver needs about 80% throttle. In the wet you'll want to use 10-20% less throttle than in the dry. The older 'classics' run much skinnier, treaded tyres - especially the older 1930's vintage cars, all of these are rear-driven and you'll get the best results using no more than 75% throttle. I started off playing the game like you and was loosing 4-5 places at every start before i noticed the throttle bar. Now i start just as quickly as the A.I. cars, and in the wet i usually start quicker.

Thanks! This is great advice! As just about everything in this thread!
I tried the stick throttle but it reacts very quickly - almost just on/off. You guys were talking about the saturation and deadspots/deadzones in the advanced options? Would this help or is it just for steering wheel config?
I'll play around with it when I get a chance.

I just use the 'x' button - i've found it perfectly adiquate for the task. when i've tried the right hand stick, i've found i can't go from accelerate to brake quick enough, and sometimes you use a little of both.

Just wondering, does your bonus code change every time you delete your profile and start over again?

Has anybody else had trouble with the rally cars in this game? I can't get anything close to a competetive time on hard, and on normal I only just squeak by. Of course, I have never been good at the rallys in GT3 or GT4 either, so maybe it's just me?

It's hard, but I can beat hard. The group B rally was a nightmare, but I came first eventually.

I agree, they are very hard. Infact I don't see any point having a co-driver on the stages, because the track would need to be memorized to be able to win there, and not driven on the co-driver notes. They are not accurate enough when it comes to type of corners and some are delivered too late anyway.
