I am curious if I am the only one or if others have experienced this weird quirk as well... After playing TOCA3 for a while my DFP will loose all resistance againstthe wheel. IOW the motors in the wheel will turn off and steering becomes like wet noodlish and sloppy, after I start a race. There will be no force against the wheel and every onec in a while it will simply keep doing this. It will be just in he racing mode not the hold modes in between the races, you can feel some force of the stator against the coils(magnetic force) ut once you start the race...poof.. its gone its like all currewnt to the motor is gone and ther is no longer any power at all going to it.

Anyone else???

sorry to bring this up, since the last post was september sometime, but since it has been going for 3 yrs now... may as well:)

anyway...I am getting the same problem as Road Rash and it is driving me insane!:grumpy::grumpy: Apart from that, I love the game

Just picked this up yesterday (FINALLY FOUND A USED COPY AT EBGAMES!!) after literally years of looking for it, and I'm absolutely loving it so far. One question, though - I've only raced at very short distances so far in order to unlock all the championships I'm particularly interested in, but do AI cars DNF as well? I know they get black flags like you (the human player) do, but do the AI/COM drivers DNF as well? Thanks for the answer.

'Tis a brilliant game, one of the greatest racing games of all time:tup:!

As for your question, I haven't played it in ages but im certain they don't, as far as I know the AI cars can only get seriously damaged. Hope this helps:tup:

Thanks. It seems they do not DNF (at least not through mechanical failure), as I caused a fairly massive crash at Eau Rouge in a DTM race and despite the front of Gary Paffett's Merc being totaled, he continued to crawl down the track. Also, despite a well-placed sneeze being able to tear the front wheels off your Lotus 49, the most I've managed to get the AI 49s to recieve is a wobbly front wheel.

Fantastic game so far.

I know this is something I should probably know by now, but I've been playing with the Pro-Simulation handling turned on, and the only problems I'm having is under braking. I'm using a DS2 controller, and it seems like every time I try to break for a corner I lock the brakes and go sliding into the run-off. Has anyone got any tips? Using a wheel is not (at the moment) an option, so what I can I do to fix this problem, as it costs me races continuosly. Should I be only applying 50% pressure on the brakes? Rapidly tap the brakes? Apply 75% pressure? Am I simply not straightening the car out enough?

yep i remember does old TOCA games on ps2 in australia we name it V8SuperCars 3 but overseas they name it TOCA 3 they are both the same games. Hey you guys do you remember the very old school games on psone named TOCA TOURING CAR CHAMPIONSHIP, TOCA 2 TOURING CARS and TOCA WORLD TOURING CARS they were the great real driver games tell GranTurismo came out.

Yes, I have Jarret & Labonte Stock Car Racing (US name for ToCA World Touring Cars) for PS1. I still play it sometimes. The cockpit view, damage, and track selection are incredible considering the system it's on.

Use the right analog stick for accelerating/braking. It gives you much more accurate control.
Yup, I use it all the time(and on other racing games too), it works even better with manual gears:tup:

I have them all, infact it was the TOCA ps1 series that got me interested in racing games and 'trained' me at them.

Ive just finished an epic 2hrs racing against Speedster502, its been ages since ive had so much fun on a racing game, bumper to bumper redlining action in Clio's, side by side high speed driving in DTM and owning in World NGT:D. Man ive missed it...

I'd have to agree. Although, out of all the tournaments we did (World NGT, DTM and Clio Cup Cars) the Clio's were the most fun. There's something about bombing around Brands Hatch Indy chucking the car into every corner and two wheeling on the first curve which is so appealing. Not too mention that I won the race too :D

I would definately agree that it was the most fun I've had on a racing game since...well since the last time I played TOCA3 against someone. Seriously, even on PS3 I am yet to find a game which is as intense as TOCA3, provides the same range of racing classes and more importantly has split screen (rules most games out for a start). Not even GT5 can live up to this game's epic fun factor on split screen.

It raises a point though, why do modern games, specifically racing games, have split screen less and less often? Do game manufactures seem to think that we don't want to be sociable and show our friends what games are like these days? Taking it in turns is boring unless it's a rallying game! The only racing game I currently own for PS3 which is split screen is GT5P and it's not what I'd call intense, or fun for that matter. So why do manufactures keep not including splitscreen? It's been a important element for games for many years and now that seems to be being pushed out by online elements. I prefer a game to have splitscreen than online any day...

I'm having trouble getting off the line (grid) at the start of the race in any of the DTM cars. I've tried everything I can think off - launching the car at every possible RPM, staying in neutral and quickly shifting down to first as I accelerate, launching in 2nd gear, not touching the accelerator until I see the green, etc. I always lose 4 or 5 positions on the start, and as I race long races it's not that big of a deal but at the same point in time a start from pole is a rarity for me and I'm sick of getting punted off at the first corner or dropping back to 6th and having to play catch-up.

Anyone have any tips? Nothing seems to work (in DTM cars, at least).

yep they were good drive experience games i remember TOCA 2 TOURING was a hard championship to bet because it had pit stop and change of weather during the race and it was very slippy race.

Is this SIM or PRO SIM? And AI set at "normal", "hard" or some custom level?

AI cars - in any category - usually get off the grids very quickly, but I seem to remember that revving your engine up (not max, but close) and, after the launch, allow for a litle wheelspin but try to get grip ASAP was the best way.

Hope this helps 👍

Forgot to mention, this is in Pro-Sim, with a DS2 controller, at 103% difficulty. I'll give that a try after work today, thanks.

No problem 👍

(but if you still have troubles, the best guy to advise you is perhaps "PiotrB", he used to be a top driver in TRD3 DTM championships online. I don't think he visits this forum, but you can find him in the FC forum, and/or send him a PM)

There hasn't been a post since earlier this month??

I'm 52% done, World Tour is finished but for the last F1 car (Tier 32 I believe) Starting on Pro Career.

Are there any setup suggestions? I don't have problems really just wanted to see if there are any web sites for setups for some of the cars.

I do agree with this. I'd rather buying a game without ANY online options (especially PS2 games) than buying a game that doesn't bring enough fun on its split-screen mode. Watching family & friends playing split-screen on a game console is quite enough fun to me, even more exciting if I join them.

But, in my life, I have a different case. My siblings like different games, only I am a racing enthusiast at my home. I also don't have a lot of friends, even if I do, no one mainly plays racing games like me. By these case, I rarely play split-screen mode on every racing game I owned...:( I really hope, one day, these things will change...

Anyways, split screen should never be abused by online mode. I'd prefer both for a best multiplayer experience.

(p.s. I never gonna start playing TOCA RD3, or any racing game until my PS2 steering wheel has arrived :D.)

TOCA3 hangs on my original 80Gb PS3. :(

I can race for a wee while and then I see the framerate quickly drop until it hangs and the sound loops ad infinitum. Really bummed about that as I love the game. Anyone else experience this?

I just play Pro Career on 50% AI, one lap, and no penalties. I usually take the lead from last place in 30-45 seconds :sly:.

P.S. Anyone wanna try racing online? I've gotten mine to work :D I can make a small diagram if you need help

Can you still play online with this? I miss racing the V8s. I have two copies of this, both of which i can't play. My PS3 aint backwards compatible :(

Well, I just picked up a second hand PS2 today and went on a sim splurge ;) Ordered Toca 3, GT4, Enthusia and Richard Burns Rally. I have never played any of these games before, have I done well?

Yes, I think you did. From what I remember those last two games are much more demanding tho (no I didn't say more realistic..), I hope you enjoy it. 👍

However I was pretty disappointed with ToCa3 since it never reached the awesomeness of ToCa 1 & 2 IMO.

I wish they would redo those in HD. :)

Thanks 👍 Yes i'm intrigued to see just how difficult RB Rally is going to be. The most simulation esque games i've ever played would be the GT5 demo and Supercar Challenge but I gather that Richard Burns is simulation on a whole other level. I've heard Enthusia being compared with SCC, and I can actually tell that just by watching clips of it - the weight transfer is very apparent. Alan G recommended Toca 3 a while back and I trust his opinion greatly and GT4 is just a game that I should have played by now but haven't.

It might be hard on the eyes adjusting to these games after being used to the incredible graphics of F1:CE and GT5 Prologue, but i'm sure the handling of these games will more than make up for that.

I wouldn't have bothered with any of this if the PS3 had more proper racing games, but it only has a couple yet it has dozens of **** arcade racers and has two more now in the shape of Blur and Split Second Velocity.
