Don't mean to moan but the BMW is not much quicker in a straight line than the VW please don't ignore us

Actually, the VW was quicker than the BMW last night (mine, at least) from 4th gear onwards. Perhaps it's because I chose the stage 1 turbo.

Tested top speeds at Monza:

Civic, Focus, BMW: 243km/h
Mazda: 244km/h
Golf: 245km/h
Infiniti: 250km/h

This sounds about right, although surprised by how low the Mazda is :O

I should note that the BMW does have good acceleration out of low-speed corners. At Monza, however, there's only 2 corners I can think of where that will work to the BMW's advantage. :indiff:

Nel ive never pushed a car to its limits like I did in that heat thing:crazy:. I partly blame myself I was under the impression the Infiniti received the same boost as the BMW if I had known I would have tested it I already thought the Infi was a nice drive just lacked a little grunt. When I saw Furi doing the checks and setting 325bhp I already new I was doomed but thought i'd give it the benefit of the doubt, its a small twisty track after al so. A couple of times I managed to hook up to the back of the 3 Infinitis coming out of the last corner only to watch them vanish into the distance draft help was non existant. The same would happen going through the fast chicane just before the last turn. I felt I was able to live a little better with Carb's Mazda although operating in full defence mode he inevitably passed me in the end was pointless putting up anymore of a fight. I don't know what the answer is Furi all seems a bit of a headache:nervous: spec changing for individual tracks doesn't sit to well with me tbh feels like piddling in the wind and all that personally. This is always going to upset certain people at particular tracks, quite rightly they have chosen a car expecting to do well at them, inevitably leading to more angst. Parting shot to you Neljack what a sloppy choice of car but I shouldn't have expected any different should i.:sly:xx

Just gotta say because i forgot. Thanks for the bump draft yesterday carb

Well I don´t think Ford needs adjustment.
In Race I did a 17.7 in draft and 18.1 with no draft.
I am just to inconsitant due to low test amount. Speedwise I was never passed at T1
=> no one outaccelerated me (ok not never but I think only 1 or 2 times).

You just got to have the Tranny right and your good. Setup is key too and getting them Laps perfect.

Toca7 was good example: Me in the Mini was fastest on straights (except at Monza CRZ was there)
=> knowing the Tranny is always an advantage.

I do think Mazda should go back to old specs and G35 to VW specs. That´s my opinion.

BTW what was last seasons pace ?? 17mid -17low ?? I don´t think so ;)

Hoping for Monza being good Raceday :D

Sorry for my little bumps espacially at R2 (don´t know whom I hit but it was a red Infiniti).

BTW²: Why all them red Infinitis ?? 4000+ different paint-chips and all Infinitis pick red ??
Must be coincidence :D

I think the Infiniti just needs -10 hp. Me and Snow were discussing things yesterday.

We all remember from S7 how good the Infiniti can be in the right hands.

I think it wouldn't hurt this Infiniti if it lost 10hp for Monza.

I'm going to be soon, just after BTCC Race 1 is finished.

You're right about setup being key, but it's also obvious that some cars will suit better for some tracks than others.
I also used the Mazda in S7 (my first season), and in Cape Ring I was able to fight Paulmac (who was driving a Mini) for pole and only lost by a tenth.
And given my poor showing last season with the VW I think it's safe to say the car made most of the difference in this track. (for me at the least)

You're forgetting that last season we had tyre wear on...

WEEKEND WRAP: Cape Ring

It was an eventful start to the TOCA9 season. 10 cars went to qualify for 5 grid spots, with Infiniti's dominating, a 1-2-3-4 in the hot laps and a 1-2-3-5 in the main race. Audi didn't get a single one of there 4 cars through, and Johnboy was unlucky to be involved in a chain reaction incident that spun him off.

Race 1 was Mazda vs Infiniti, with Ford's and Volkswagens not liking Cape and getting left behind. Last lap Dax went off and had contact with Yeratel, resulting in Dax dropping down the order to 3rd. Yeratel would win the race.

Race 2 and Smuffy had a lights to flag win, with overtaking proving difficult for some people at the back because of the reverse grid race - Dax also had mechanical failiure.

Race 3 had a bit of classic touring car chaotics, with Sakery and Hurley unable to start, and Panoz, Gokartman, and Furi having some paint swapped at Turn 1. JoeOfTheFire would roar away to a dominating win.

STANDINGS

Overall, SYM have a good size lead with 5th to 10th looking a little messy. Monza will be a key race for sorting out the order.

Carbonox leads Independents from Smuffy, with Panoz, DK, and Rolo in hot pursuit.

Cape was SYM's weekend, RPM face an uphill battle in there quest for a 5th title.

Mazda march ahead in makes, Infiniti vs VW for 2nd early on.

STEWARDING NOTES / PENALTIES

Race 1 DaxCobra claimed he was forced off by Yeratel on the last lap. However, as the video evidence shows, he got it totally wrong. Dax clips grass on the left hander of the Esses, runs out wide as a result, and Yeratel is already moved over as far as he can without running off the road. It is at least a racing incident, if not Dax's fault for not watching where he is going.

I would very much like to watch that Q Race... could you upload that for us Furi?

(or send me the replay if you don't want the trouble)

I can't upload a full race, my phone memory isn't that good...

Might call O'Rama though.

Final spec decision due by Tuesday.

Must be coincidence :D

Well i chose matte orange but it does look like it is red.

Gordon Shedden in BTCC after race 1

"The car handling was fantastic around the corners, but the MG's were 5mph quicker on the straights making it impossible to overtake anywhere"

Same could be said for a few cars here.....

Haven't you heard? Painting your car red gives it an extra 40bhp. ;)

I'd be interested to see that again from Dax's replay since there's a bit too much lag for conclusive evidence. Plus it actually looked like Dax had track position.

He clipped kerb, went wide, Yeratel could not move the car anymore to the side. Dax's could have straight lined the corner rather than bounce off of Yeratel...

For Dax to claim:
DaxCobra (PM Received post Race 1)
I made a little mistake into the esses, so Yeratel goes off of the track to get up my inside and punts me to the side.

and say that it was on purpose is just plain wrong. Where in that video did Yeratel put the car off track to punt him?

I don't think it was intentional or that Yeratel went off the track to hit him, no I do have my reservations however. I won't say anymore on the matter since it's none of my business but still maintain that it would be interesting to see Dax's replay.

Regardless, rage quitting from that (and he was third in that race and won Independents) is pretty childish.

I wouldnt even call that a major incident. Bit petty

Mine was worse:ouch: Yet I kept going (only just though:sly:)

V8-Johnboy

I think people forget its a game sometimes

I must say, Dax closing the door on Yera looks very similar to R35 doing it to him from seasons past, and who raged that time?

The camera I saw yours from JB was the far one, i've not looked at it on replay, think that you braked to avoid Carb, and Gokartman just caught you?
