Tokyo Auto Salon: one of the biggest GT5 displays ever built

I was looking for it. Someone posted earlier that the rollers were used to simulate driving and aerodynamics.

I've never seen fwd or rwd cars use both the front and rear rollers. From what I was told, the dyno numbers would be off, somehow, since more stress was being put on the roller.

I was talking that I have seen a FWD on a dyno, where the rear wheels are also moving.
There's a very good reason too. Modern car's ESP systems go nuts when they detect a major speed difference between front and rear wheels. So if you put one of those on a dyno with only front or rear moving, you will not get proper results (there's a link somewhere to an M3 test, but I forgot where).

A spinning wheel will have different effect on aero than a stationery wheel and when a car is moving on a road all it's wheels are turning so if you're working on aero on a dyno is it not better to have all wheels turning?

Yeah, I never seen it before those pictures. But I would assume the dyno numbers would be a little off with the extra roller having to be turned.

I'm not sure at what point there is sensors on the wheels that aren't normally turning (newer cars) but that car I have posted is not suffering from that problem, and I don't think it would had that problem if it were to happen in GT

Sick to death of looking in gtplanet threads to find the same damn thing. Arguing, nothing but *&^$# arguing. Can some of you righteous folk just stick a bloody sock in it please. You can discuss without being rude, and if you insist on going off topic, there is a PM function, where you can bitch to your hearts content!

Also, there was a very blatant post incuding video footage of a wind tunnel in GTPSP. Who has the game? Is the tunnel in it? If not then why assume a GT5 inclusion? Or argue about it?

It is one of the biggest GT displays ever build on a show.
Which doesnt mean we will get lots of news. lol

You seem to forget that this is not a gaming show.

Still, Kaz's own words stated a few new BIG manufacturer inclusion announcements, and they should of been covered on press day right? I had hoped for more news by now.

I would hardly relate GT PSP to what GT5 will be like.

Huh? The wind tunnel footage was in a trailer for GT5 included in the GTPSP game. The trailer was in GTPSP but it's still a GT5 trailer so why expect the wind tunnel to be in GTPSP?

And about your rant, I wonder if you can realize the hypocrisy in it. You can't stand people being rude but you're being rude yourself by talking to us like we are stupid since we want to discuss such a thing. "Do as I say, not as I do"? Also, this is a forum, it's a place were people discuss things. I don't know what you're doing in a forum if you don't want to discuss or read other people's discussions.

There was a GT5 trailer shown when you completed GTPSP. The trailer featured a wind tunnel. At that time, it was noticed, but nobody assumed it would be in GT5. Now the wind tunnel has been seen again in the most recent trailer featuring the Toyota. It still isnt confirmed but one could assume a track featured in numerous trailers would be in the final game so there is a chance that a wind tunnel will be in GT5 in some fashion (photomode or tuning mode).

👍 That is exactly what I was thinking!

Thats my bad... I thought it was a GT PSP trailer.

With regard to my rant though, discussions are usually a tad more civilised, not degrading to school yard bickering, AND, all forums have rules, its just that some aren't adhered to and it annoys me. Had to browse 3 pages of unrelated posts to find something about the TAS!!

Does anyone know of any GTP members attending the event?

Why don´t people just sit back and relax, it´s not like GT5 is your life right? :D

Started noticing that folks here are gettin more and more greedy. Just complaining about small stuff.

The show is three days right? then why don´t we wait three days and if we haven´t seen any pics or videos then we can complain/discuss

Sorry if someone has said this already but the reason the wheels spin in the wind tunnel is because a turning wheel disturbs air differently than a stationary wheel.

Uh no, but I'm pretty obsessed with GT5 since the E3 trailer.
And it's not my fault, it's the fault Sony/PD giving us a new pic or a new info every once and then and keep promising things....it's driving me crazy.
You know it's just like when you want to seduce a woman.

Are you the woman in this scenario or the man (you wrote it, I didn't)? :)

Dear Kazunori,

I truly pledge to you to please, PLEASE (I really mean it!) draw a strategy with the rest of the crew from Sony and Polyphony to leak at least some sort of information everyday! There are dozens of thousands of people going crazy on GTPlanet because, since there's nothing rock solid to discuss, arguing about everything. I'm afraid that someday I might even start reading people discussing seriously about this so unbelievable as trees that look like cardboards, the fact that there is no skidmarks on the pavement, no reverse light or, imagine that!, the inclusion of a wind tunnel in the actual game to tune their cars!...

...oh! ... They already do it...

For the love of God, do you people have any sense of realism?!

^^^ GT5 isn't my life either, but is something I'm very excited about it. I don't see anything wrong with having something to look forward to and get excited about

Gran Turismo isn't just a game to me, it's a hobby. The fact it's comes via the PS3 is secondary to me. I bought a PS3 for GT5P, not the other way around like other 'gamers' would. Just like other people are into fishing or football, I'm into Gran Turismo.

So the term 'obsessed' is really relative to whether you you view it as 'just a game' or a hobby.

Noble are awesome, never forget :P We want them in GT5.

What, you never try to needle/provoke (I don't know the right term in english) a woman?
You know she likes you, she keeps calling you and you answer 1% of the time... stuff like that.
That's what Sony/PD are doing to us. So basically we are the wom...
-_-
NEVERMIND.

Hahahaha... Just poking some fun. It helps with the "need more news, stress." :) I am also being driven crazy by it all. I thought that the press portion was yesterday, but all we seem to have is a PD announcement concerning the GPS unit. Nice, but not exactly what we were expecting, eh.

Oh well, at least the photos of the Tommy Kaira and Nismo tuned, GT-Rs are very nice. Hope they are in the game.

Hope that the rest is either waiting for the public (??) or just due to journalists who don't think much of us.

Well said mate! I dont go hunting, ride motorcycles, own a boat, or have any other hobbies that take my time(except my wife) and I also bought my PS3 for GTP and GT5 only.👍

no more car show please just release the game please no more additional tech or features that we might not need, just release the game

Indeed, humour is needed in this times of not knowing anything. About the lack of info my theory is that Tokyo, being one of the most technologically advanced cities in the world, lost each and everyone of it's connections to the internet and that's why we haven't been able to get any news, just wait til Tokyo has internet again and the news will fly . As Voltaire said, optimism is saying everything is right when obviously it isn't .
