Sorry but i'm afraid your wrong there. It took PD the same amount of time to create 1 whole car for Gran Turismo 4 the same amount of time to detail one headlight for a car in GT5 Prologue. You dont know how long it takes to create every single detail to you? Kaz is a perfectionist and he will not release something that he not satisfied about. And no the car companies do not give PD a 3D Model version of their car already. PD Has to build and create the car from ground up on what spec information the car companies give them Thats why it takes so long just to create one car.

And for the *Big Fall Update* Even Kaz himself said they were aiming for damage for the fall. Though Private Rooms was brought into the open by critics and word of mouth personally i dont see private rooms coming but damage is certainly is.

I indeed know how many time it takes to model a car, cause I am working for Digital Productions. That Polyphony are getting the 3D Models from the car companies is not a claim from me, Polyphony themself made this statement.

Oh people come on, do you really believe it takes them 6 months to model a car for GT5P? They said that as comparison of how complex it is to make the cars. It's like Pixar saying there are 2000 men years of work in the last Pixar Movie. Anyone who has made a Car in a 3D Program such as Maya, 3DS Max, C4D, Softimage or similar, knows that is will not take 6 months to model a car, even with the details polyphony are modeling the cars. And Polyphony has the advantage that they are getting most of the cars fully modeled from the car companies, so they have "only" make the necessary adjustments.
Without the models, yes, I would believe that it would take 6 months to model both interior and exterior. Like I said, it's not just sitting behind Maya or C4D to model the car (and yes, I too have worked with software like that on a commercial basis), it's the whole process around it that consumes a lot of time. I wouldn't be surprised if a car manufacturer wants to keep monitoring the whole process to make sure their cars look okay. It's not like someone is sitting behind a 3D program to create stuff day after day, that is only one part of the process.
With the models supplied however, I assume it would shorten development by a great deal, since you need not waste time on getting dimensions right. If that is the case, 6 months does appear to be quite a lot. ;)

Today i read an info on a german news site that they working on GT on the PSP and also on prologue and GT5... they want to finish first GT5 and prologue... but thats a statement from Shuhei Yoshida...

here the source

http://www.play3.de/2008/10/11/gran-turismo-mobile-weiterhin-in-arbeit/

Translation

11th October 2008*

Hardly have all with a Einstampfen Gran Turismo Mobile version abgefunden and the development of the PSP game as the biggest bubble in the history of the series views, reports Shuhei Yoshida, head of Sony Worldwide Studios, to speak. This proclaims quite obviously the continued development of racing simulation in pocket format.

In an interview with Euro gamers Yoshida replied to the question after an appearance of the PSP version: "Good question! It is up to Polyphony Digital, they are working on it. "

Blame for the delays, work on Gran Turismo 5, Gran Turismo 5 Prologue: "They are still working on Gran Turismo 5 Prologue and Gran Turismo 5 for the PS3 and want to finish this. This delayed the development of Gran Turismo Mobile. "

When the PSP offshoot now appear, is so far still uncertain.

:ouch: my bad!!

check it again, looks like it does say spec III, put it down to my none HD TV!!

and maybe a bit of wishfull thinking!!!

3D modelling it's only a part of the 6 month period to create a car, I doubt that you do a comparable time consuming research of every car modeled: traveling, taking hundred of photos, measuring real parts, recording sounds, getting real colors and texture materials, looking for perfect angles and real scale matching on every view and every part, at times track test, programing car's behaviour, game testing, etc. They even disassemble real parts for detailed measuring such as car lights. There's no other game company that offers this extreme time consuming attention to detail and that's the reason that other car games look average compared to the ones in Prologue.

Even if they get some original CAD from the manufacturer(not the norm as you claim) the work to create a car need to be redone from scratch for the game, same as raw laser scanning data.

A year ago they had 40 people involved on car modeling(6 month/car) and 30 on track work(1 year/track).

While invite options were actually promised by PD stuff, how come you are certain about damage?

True but come on we had a list of things promised for us. Remember that unveiling with that huge list when they were having the conference about GT HD? I still have the picture somewhere so 'll try dig it up. Kaz has spoken in many interviews about damage or some sort of cosmetic damage. Not damage that will completely destroy the car. Here's an interveiw with CVG about it. There are many floating about but Kaz wouldnt suddenly change his mind and if he did he would have made an announcment by now so there wouldnt be any angry screwed up faces by the time the *Fall* Hit. http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=186046

Thats incorrect, yes there was a list he made but never did he actual promise all this to us. This is something they are working on and hope to implement in the future.

Well he said to us in that conference that they would be implemented into GTHD is what im getting at but since that was ditched there has been no word of the list since. But of course he wants those features to be in the final GT5

No, he doesn't know what he want with GT5 because he haven't thought about it very much. :sly:
Q: As good as Prologue is, what can we expect in the full version of GT 5?
A: To be honest, I haven't given a lot of thought to GT 5, so I don't have an answer. And it's too early to talk about GT 5 because we still have updates coming out for Prologue.

Q: Is there an ETA on GT 5?
A: It won't be this year and nothing's scheduled for next. It may be out in 2010, but like I said, we haven't really discussed it yet.

Well im just trying to answer some questions i dont need to keep defending myself. Things on that list he would want would be included in the final GT5 Like private lobbies, Voice chat and things like that. And yes it is to early to even be talking about GT5 but i was just trying to answer some questions. Jeez.

I don't ever remember him saying they would be, I remember him taking about these things they hoped to be in GTHD.

Now thinking about it KY hasn't made a public address like this in quite some time, or anyone about Gran Turismo. :(

(Besides being on stage during GT by Citroen unveiling, and GTTV video at E3 press conference)

Every E3 and TGS KY would talk about the future of GT. E3, Leipzig and now TGS have all been GT duds, now we should stop worring about gameshows as I we get more info from Motorshows.

Wish he did go to the British Motorshow this year. Would have been awesome if he was there especially with the amount of new attention GT was getting at the Motorshow there were alot of simulators to do with GT i was frankly surprised he wasnt there. But then again it's quite along way from Japan to the UK.

PD this is BS there are other games that are more difficult to make coming out sooner. To me it seems like they got this demo out and forgot its main purpose wich was to show what was coming in GT5.Stop working on the DEMO and get on with real deal.Sorry for the rant but i had to get that out.

Stuff they making into the "demo" Prologue... It will be in FULL game. If they stop here, they might as well stop with FULL game. We are pretty much BETA testers and its good we stop complain and start making reports about how game feels, glitches, good and bad of the game, etc...

there was no beta of GT3 A-spec.Why GT5 prologue beta? they can fix glitches in full version thanks to the updates..If GT5p beta why we got it? 40bucks for beta huh?

Its Simple they must give us Nordschleife ist done ist shown on special game demos, i dont care it loooks like gt4 on higher resolution because all the tracks dont look better dan gt4 only a higher resolution so give is Nordschleife and La Sarte just as a thanks to our patiance...

Damn my english is so bad..... sorry for that

We only paid £18 quid. For a prologue. They don't have to give us any updates. They have but they didn't have to. Of all the tracks we might receive I would say La Sarthe and the Ring are the least likely.

I don't need thanks for my patience, I have been enjoying the game and certainly got my money's worth.

Did you play SPEC I?
See how SPEC III has changed all the physics, suspension, and tire physics, other misc stuff.... So I think it's a good thing we have PROLOGUE.

If there was no PROLOGUE.
We would be stuck with same physics like SPEC I in full GT5 game. And it would take them another months to change it... So once FULL gt5 comes out, We ganna have even way better physics because they know how sim racers respond to them.
So 40 bucks Is a good price for a good quality game. Even tho it's beta or even ALPHA stage... it dominates all other sim racers on consoles.

KY is a man who doesn't deliver tracks that are not Perfect in every way shape or form. And no, the tracks now are completely different from GT4.

I was going to ask same question too. Most people who have only played Gran Turismo 5 Prologue from March will only have played from Spec II , I've been playing since Spec I when there was only 5 Tracks, & 42 Cars, Physics were completely different and PD Fixed them for Spec II & again for Spec III,

I completely agree also you cant argue on the price especially when you can get hold of it for £10-$20 at the least. IMO it's one of the strongest racing games out there and it's held it's own this year being the 5th most selling game on the Playstation 3.

To think about. Other racing games, just for a HANDUFL amount of cars, You have to PAY to Download them.
GT5Prologue, since SPEC I, added twice as many cars and still FREE and same Price. At first GT5P spec I, was bit over priced with weak physics, now It's really worth 40 bucks.
