You have to remember that the instant-kill perks are "Center of Attention" and "Aura of Dignity". Then when you're in front, the race is already over before it even started.

Center of attention + Pioneer's secret are what cause the stacked damage. Aura of dignity sure helps a few meters, but those first two are what insta-kills their entire SP bar, even if they have defensive skills. Throw Aura of dignity on top to make it happen quicker, but insta kill still works fine without it.

....Well my PS5 disc drive just broke and I'm honestly just fed up with this PS5 at this point. Going to sell it and just go back to playing on my PS4 Pro since I only play PS4 games anyways.
Hopefully this comes out on PS4....if not....I guess I'll just wait to see how the PS6 is in the future.

Well because it's ridiculous that it even broke. I didn't use it much since I tend to double dip and buy games in physical and digital to to have a physical collection, but play digitally for convenience. Yet it still broke only after 3 years.
My PS2 slim from 2007, PS3 FAT model from 2008 and PS4 Slim and Pro still all work without issue and have way more use time.
So that is 1 reason why.
The 2nd reason is I watched videos and it can either be the laser, or the chip thingy in the system...and I'm not wasting money figuring out which one it is.

I don't think I will ever get 100% achievements though. The 'complete the game without ever losing' is going to do me in for sure. Always some AI car messing up, or me making just that little tiny mistake.

Also, I have 154 hours in now, probably could do with a break. ;)

My only advice is quit to Title Screen if you're going to lose, so it won't be held against you.

Otherwise, the Instant Kill combo. (even nerfed just a bit) is absolutely crucial against the end-game bosses like the Record Trio or the final boss himself if you're going for that achievement. I actually got super lucky with the final boss because his swerving across the highway put him into the back of traffic AI giving me the chance to blow by & instant win.

That's pretty much what I did to get my perfect run on both points.

Also, draws on the previous patch did not impact the achievement. Cannot confirm if it still is the case, but I got the achievement with 3 draws. If its still the case, I'm guessing the game is specifically looking for losses and nothing else.
 
After looking around there are quite a bit of interesting stuff in the files. They are either leftovers/unused or upcoming content for the game.

Spoiler Alert :

  • There is a potential second guest rival. Most likely another vtuber
  • Mention of "No Mercy" game mode. Equivalent to a ultra hard mode
  • Obstacle such as Construction, Broken down cars and traffic congestion on the road
  • Time Attack Mode as unlockable mode on the skill tree
  • Survival mode? as unlockable mode on the skill tree. No further detail on this one
  • A skill tree to reduce the amount of traffic on the road
  • There is a team consisting of 6 members that didn't make it to the game. unfortunately there are no further detail about it
 
I imagine the Survival Mode is going to be like Quick Race mode from the early games, where it put you up against a gauntlet of ever-faster opponents until you either beat Zero or get defeated

I still have no idea who and/or what a Rindo Chihaya is. I looked it up on YouTube. Is it like an AI voice making music or something? Or like a cartoon? Also, it's apparently popular with "gooners".

I tried asking on Reddit about it and was told I was racist, which is about what I expect from Reddit. I feel like this is one of those things I'm entirely too old for.

She's a streamer known as a Virtual YouTuber i.e. an anime avatar being controlled by a real person using fancy animation techniques on a PC

A japanese Vtuber (Virtual Youtuber). Essentially a Youtuber/streamer but usually using anime style 3D avatar hence "cartoon like". There is still a human voicing and expressing the character while on stream.
 
Good that the average response here is of much higher quality than Reddit. :D

And I too feel old some times, and I understand some things are to be left to the youth (though I find it highly amusing if I throw out their language in their presence and they look at me in absolute disgust :lol:), I just happily take more rivals in this game. :)
 
I started a new game... I've actually restarted three times already. Maybe I'm just not in the mood for it right now, but I'm struggling to get into this again. I hate feeling this way.

  • An FJ Cruiser with Highway Patrol livery on it. Possibly related to the construction obstacle on the road?
  • A quick tuning presets for cars is also found. the options are for gearbox ratio (acceleration focused or top speed focused), handling (Straight Line Stability or turning focused) and Front or Rear Biased Braking
