Am I just putting myself in bad spots, or do most of the bosses know how to do the pit maneuver at will?
Yes and yes. Especially if they turn you into the siderail, effectively locking you, you're toast. Works both ways though. :)

I can't replicate it though. Either they shake me off like nothing, I don't seem to have the grip to hook them, or they magically recover and speed away.

I really hate I'm having to dig into scumbag tactics again.

You don't have to as long as you don't put yourself in a position where they can do it to you. If they come up from behind, outright block them. Also takes away their speed. If you're the one coming up from behind, make sure it's in a place where you have some wiggle room. On the C1 it can be tricky because it's narrow, curvy and a lot of traffic. But it's also the place where you can trick them into a mistake more easily. As for scumbag tactics: this ís a fighting game in racing game disguise. Some of the lore even tells you that everything is allowed if it gives you a win. :) So don't feel bad about forcing your opponent into traffic and/or a wall. ;) Especially some of the bosses which have some crazy advantages over you.

That's the main thing to keep in mind. This isn't sim racing or legitimate motorsports with clear rules, it's unsanctioned anything-goes street racing where nobody cares how you win, just if you win. We are bringing in cars with giant nitrous tanks 1000+ horsepower engines and quasi-magical powers that change the conditions of how a winner is determined, after all.

True! And while it ís possible to race cleanly with most of the rivals you encounter, I think it's very hard with some of the later bosses, because they have such a big advantage over you in terms of pure speed, unlimited nitrous, regeneration, etc. And car choice matters a lot, esp. later on.

Beat the Devil Z last week and started on an NG+ run. Also started messing around with mods.

The Producer's Letter has been released.
A brief translation of the key points:

  • The physical version is currently only available in Asia, with no plans for release in other regions (*current).
  • Added replay functionality.
  • Added Music Selection.
  • Three new cars, plus playable versions of some traffic cars (i.e., the Dyna).
  • Added Spanish and French localization.
  • Optimized for PS5 (PS5 Enhanced and DualSense feedback).

While the content added in this update is currently only available in the PS5 version, a similar update is planned for Steam.

They also apologized for the limited number of cars added, but stated that they will continue to work on development.

There may be some disappointments, but it's good that they are willing to keep updating it. Let's look forward to their future developments.

Update: The official English account posted the image, so I've attached it. I think it would be better to refer to this rather than my inaccurate translation.

I'm a bit annoyed that the physical version is only available in Asia at the moment. I hope they release it in other regions. No choice but to wait.

I know you can get it online or whatever, but I like physical stuff.

You can easily buy the disc version online, although it won't be cheap.

I've already bought/pre-ordered the digital version and would easily double dip if they had a physcial release in the EU.
Looks like I'll have to go the import route later. Helloooo good ol' customs duty

I'm in two minds if I get this again on PS5, as I'm less inclined to fire up the PC on a regular basis and use the PS5 more than anything right now.

I'm also not that far into it on PC for that reason, either. 🤔

I was waiting for the CX-3, as it was one of the few models that hadn’t been ported over from the 2017 SBX mobile game yet. The only one left now is the Prius, which I can understand not being a priority. It was kind of a shocking choice to appear in a street racing game, as not only could you buy it, but there was a rival that actually drove it.

Already put the Music Selection to use, the OG Edge Of Heaven for the Reference/Rivals menu was pretty much mandatory for me. :sly:

Time to join what the PC folks have had for months on PS5 and head back to the Expressway. :D

Clever Drive remix throughout the entire game wherever possible. I really like that song.

I must admit that I never once thought that having a customizable music selection, both in the menus as well during gameplay, would be a godsend. The changes I've been able to make has elevated the game even more. So, thank you for that Genki!

Now I just have to figure out how I can change the field of view and the adaptive triggers and having the value(s) I've set in the settings actually carry over during gameplay.

Seeing how starting a NG+ now will carryover your total mileage sounds sweet!

Just as I'm under a NG+ save post-endgame, with <2000km for the last few wanderers I need to get to Unknown...

I'm soo happy this game has finally arrived on PS5. I didn't waste any time getting a hold of it last night and I have to say, it's way better than Need For Speed. No stupid handling quirks, no ****** characters, no cringey dialogue and no "always online" BS. I started off with the ND MX-5 and it didn't drive like complete arse, so coming to grips with it was easy. I'm overwhelmed by the perks and upgrade system because it's totally different to anything else I've played, but I'm sure to work it out eventually. Am I blown away? No, but the game is solid and works exactly as it should without any interruptions. In this day and age, that's a huge win.

This being my first TXR game ever, I'm very much liking it.

Few thing that I've noticed so far: after a race, the game makes a small "jump" or pause before resuming normal driving.

You are forced to follow the ai route on intersections, even if you lead. Wasn't this fixed on PC, so that the ai has to follow you when they are chasing?

Also, don't know where to find the pre-order bonus stickers. I only get new stickers and logos when I beat the team or boss.

Also no aura on Melancholy Angel. Bought the perk for it but haven't seen them on rivals.

You can use your directional indicators (dpad left-right) to change the route, but only if you are (substantially) in the lead. At leat on Steam, I don't have the PS5 version.
